I feel like in the pre-reading for my job in a department of hair chemistry I had to read something about how hair developed on the heads to protect the new less tree-ensconced standers. Maybe the light sensitive ginger neanderthals were a necessary variation, just like apes baldening too far.

But on topic, no wonder the Neanderthals went extinct. Everyone knows gingers get an unfair share of bullying, so if an entire species is stuck with it, damn!
I have wondered why we think of Neanderthal as having gone 100% extinct. Is it not possible their genes have become mixed as per Jean Auel? It seems to me she had it about right. I see a few Neanderthal types, just say'n.
