The poor British! Isn't there some way we can get them telephones so they can stop using telegraphs?

Literally wrapped itself around a telegraph pole? Maybe I am missing some British take on the english language, but how did the car do it "itself" if it had a driver. I mean KITT from Knight Rider could wrap itself (himself?) around a pole but other cars need actors to do the wrapping.

Driver and passenger walked away with minor injuries.

But they were later beaten senseless by a gang of Ferrari aficionados.

It's not actually wrapped around a "telegraph" pole. It's cleft nearly in twain by a telegraph pole. It's been half-bisected by a telegraph pole. Come on! These people supposedly invented the English language! Time to start using it more carefully!

God bless crumple zones.

Well, the driver gave it the necessary kinetic energy, but the Ferrari's structure put it to good use :)

"That Ferrari wrapped itself around a telegraph pole" makes as much sense as "that gun killed a robber..."

Many people with more money than driving experience have a tough time getting used to oversteer.

Well, let me defend the seeming anthropomorphism. I actually think it is fair to say that the Ferrari wrapped "itself" around the telephone pole.

If you launch a car at a high rate of speed at a pole such as that, there are quite a few ways it could turn out. I've done the experiment once myself, and it didn't turn out quite that way. The exact result is going to be determined by the rate of speed, the angle of attack, the precise point of contact, and many aspects of the specific design of the car: engine location, crumple zone design, etc.

So the way I see it, all the driver really did was to get it there with considerable momentum left to spare. The car took it from there. Indeed the car's designers probably had more to do with the "wrapping" aspect of the final outcome :)

How fast was he going? Wonder what that crash safety test rating is.

Good onya mate, you walked away.
So ya di'n't get laid.
But ya sure enough paid
Fer gettin' turr'ble pissed in Adelaide.

That's a top-quality telephone pole. The ones around here shear off and hang from the wires they had been supporting.

That's what I was wondering. The poles where I live are designed to shear off as a safety feature. This one seems designed to kill people.

Am I mistaken, or is that a metal pole? Ouch.

I would have loved and cherished that car and kept it on the road. The rich are so undeserving.

Is it just me, or with those big headlights and doors open, doesn't that car look like a big, dazed bug?

Or pay attention to the plants in the background of this picture (or note the sunshine!)

Too many look but do not observe.

That said, Michael Ryan's comment at 9:14 made me silently chuckle.

MM,

You're a better class of individual than I am, as Michael's comment made me jealous that he got there first! :-)
