Given what this kind of flower looks like (these particular examples less than others), I tend to get more excited than calmed down.

Hey the WORLD CHAMPION NEW YORK GIANTS are not going to play until Monday Night Football so we can relax this Sunday as there is nothing of importance going on.
Turn in on Monday to see THE WORLD CHAMPION NEW YORK GIANTS march on in the undefeated season on the way to another Super Bowl.

Did I tell you lately that the Giants won the Super Bowl?

"Calm down at The Pink Rose Tea Room"

Feel better?

No. I'm not tickled pink by your flowers. I'm purple with rage, fiery red with anger . My hate has become an intoxicating drug...

....... SARAH, SARAH, SARAH!!!!

^ fixed it for you.

No. It's not calming me down.

We're advising our kids to get together a disaster kit and enough money to get out of the city should the unthinkable happen, and Obama loses. The riots and the meltdown will make anything we've seen in the past look tame. You think Bush derangement syndrome has been bad.

We hope we're wrong.

Rose - the nightmare scenario (for the purposes you mention) is that Obama not only loses, but loses because he came up short in the electoral college despite a significant popular vote majority. In that scenario, we not only have riots and so forth, but after things calm down, there will almost certainly be a concerted effort to eliminate the electoral college, something I dread almost as much as an Obama Presidency. Still, that seems unlikely given recent trends in the projected electoral college.

Rose said...

I agree, Simon, if McCain wins, we have to hope it is by a significant majority.

And I do hope he wins. The very fact that we are worrying about this should speak volumes.

The greatest ode to whacking off ever written:

She was standing at the load-in
When the trucks rolled up
She was sniffing all around
Like a half grown female pup
She wasnt hard to talk to
Looked like she had nowhere to go
So I gave her my pass
So she could get in and see the show

Well I sat her down right next to me
And I got her a beer
While I mixed that sound on stage
So the band could hear
The more I watched her watch them play
The less I could think of to say
And when they walked off stage
The drummer swept that girl away

But rosie youre all right -- you wear my ring
When you hold me tight -- rosie thats my thing
When you turn out the light -- Ive got to hand it to me
Looks like its me and you again tonight rosie

Well I guess I might have known from the start
Shed come for a star
Might have told my imagination not to run too far
Of all the times that Ive been burned
By now youd think Id have learned
That its who you look like
Not who you are

But rosie youre all right -- you wear my ring
When you hold me tight -- rosie thats my thing
When you turn out the light -- Ive got to hand it to me
Looks like its me and you again tonight rosie

sarah, sarah, sarah, indeed.

Can you hear the boos?

On the other hand, Philadelphia fans booed Santa Claus.

They are just funny that way.

I have been a New York Rangers fan my entire life, but due to the fact that they were nice to Sarah Palin I will be rooting for the Flyers this season.

The flower reminded me of a nucular explosion and a mushroom cloud.

Ann's flowers are like a Rorschach test. Where others see beauty I see fiery death and vengeful anger.

I'm a gun owning White man in Pennsylvania who is a big fan of Sarah Palin.

I've been stirred up by Sarah and gramps. I can't help myself.

Ernesto Ariel Suárez said...

jdeeripper, so you are saying that you are a McCain/Palin supporter who wants a nuclear explosion??

Ernesto Ariel Suárez said...

Right. That's what I thought. You may see roses, but I seen plants of another kind.

Rose said...

This makes me feel calmer.

Clinton supporters sharing evidence for RICO case against Obama campaign

Like, maybe there's HOPE!

Nice roses.

I'm trying to feel better. I could use a dirty martini.

Out of olives, though. Damn it.

It's a little known fact that Jackson Browne wrote that song one night after seeing a young Rosie O'Donnell in a bar in Hoboken.

She was thinner then, and passed for straight. And the lights were dim and she couldn't be heard speaking.

A few months ago? No. But now...I don't know what's come over me. I've been watching Sarah Palin speeches , McCain campaign videos and going to some crazy lady's website and I just feel different.

I feel a rage welling up in me. A boundless rush of hate and a twinge of fear.

Nothing is quite the same, maybe it never will be again. A change has come over me .

Rose, unless he's actually indicted in the next week, I don't think that's going to help. The electorate have that "deer in the headlights" look about them, bound and determined to get run down by Obama's campaign. I just don't know what it's going to take to make them wake up and see what they're about to do. When even someone smart enough to know better is 89.5% likely to vote for him, what are the chances for the electorate at large?

Zachary Sire said...

I fear that if Obama does win, which by all accounts seems highly likely, people like Simon and Rose might start rioting and looting the Althouse comments. Hope you're ready to start boarding up the blog, Ann!

Simon said...

Zach, hardly. Should he prevail, I think (or rather, hope) you will see an effort to, by all means available, undermine, forestall, delay and where possible defeat Obama's agenda. For example, all available procedural options should be exercised (witholding unanimous consent for items being placed on the calender and dispending with the reading of bills in the Senate, to name but two), litigation wherever possible, outright resistance where practical, and so forth. "Rioting" in the comments section of a blog we like? Doesn't really accomplish anything, does it?

Darcy said...

Quite right, Simon. There will be no rioting.

Fierce, thoughtful resistance, but no rioting.

Good luck with a Democratic controlled House and Senate.

Oh no!

I'm just razzing you. Don't worry, everything will be fine under President Barack Hussein Obama. Just relax. Him and Vice President Joe Biden will take good care of us.

I am inclined toward the attitude of the email, Glenn Reynolds posted to the effect that after what has happened over the last 8 years, President Obama will get no slack from me.

Being a critic is so eaaaassssssy.

Darcy said...

Oh, SteveR...I just went and read that. And it made me laugh a little, but it was a sad laugh, to be honest.

The man is right in the behavior of the Democrats these last eight years, and they deserve a double dose of all of that for their despicable actions and words.

But I don't want to do that! I don't want to be like them. I don't think we are, and I don't think we will be.

Darcy said...

My last comment sounded preachy, and I didn't mean it to. I'm angry, too.

BJM said...

Darcy said: Fierce, thoughtful resistance, but no rioting.

Yes, and wait for the MSM to turn on The One, for turn they will; see Clinton, Bill.

Simon said...

Zach, Democratic control of the Senate presupposes comity in that body. Items are placed on the Senate calender by unanimous consent; the witholding of that is called a "hold." Look it up. Once a bill comes to the floor, the rules require that the bill is read, in full, by the secretary of the Senate. Ordinarily, that reading is waived - by unanimous consent. Recently, Senator McConnell refused that consent; the Senate was shut down for the better part of a day while the entirety of the bill was read aloud. You might remember that. The minority has tools. The question is whether they have the nerve to use them.

Of course, the Democrats have no respect for the traditions and rules of the Senate; they will do everything possible to eliminate such limits on their power. That's what liberals do: identify limits on power and try to remove them. Hence, Roosevelt's court packing plan, for example. The question will be, do you have time to do that before the midterms evict your majority? This slumber of reason might get you past election day, but it isn't going to last long.

Ernesto Ariel Suárez said...

jdeeripper, sure, I was born last night...

Rose said...

Too bad there's not a law on the books that you can suspend the election in the event of massive voter fraud - until such time as all registered voters are verified as actually living, and voting in only one place.

What's the alternative? A win, and an election overturned? A slap on the wrist? Fines paid? Plausible deniability?

I looked at those pix, and I actually **smelled** those flowers. Seven-alarm olfactory fire. Amazing.
