Here's the exact moment when I switched to the fisheye lens in L.A. — and I never went back.
It was my first day in the city, July 27, and I was just setting foot on Melrose Avenue for my first photo walk. Time: 11:45 PDT. I wanted to photograph the Fred Segal store:

Wait, which one has the fisheye again? That's just how Melrose looks, isn't it?
It's the presence of the looming mountains. In that one picture, if you enlarge it and scroll way over to the right, you can see the mountains peeking through.
The mountains juxtaposed against the low-rise boxy structures.
It's like those mountains are ready to attack and impose their will on those flimsy, helpless buildings.
I can see we shall have to pry that fisheye from your hot, moist fingers.
