By the way, remember the AutoAdmit lawsuit? If you think those Yale law students ought to be able to sue the on-line idiots for saying what they did about them, don't you also have to believe Tim Russert had a cause of action against Ezra Klein?
ADDED: In the mindset of the AutoAdmit plaintiffs, what Ezra twittered was a rape threat.

Was that the moderation job that I said Russert was more repulsive than the candidates about?
I don't see how you get cause of action about it.
Anyway it's an epithet, not any sort of declarative or imperative. You need some grammatical support for a lawsuit.
In the mind set of the AutoAdmit plaintiffs, it's a rape threat.
We can all take comfort that Tim Russert is now in a better place. How do we know that it's a better place?
Because Ezra Klein isn't there.
I miss the days when senseless shit like this was settled with a punch in the mouth or pistols at dawn. I tire of metrosexuals letting their mouths write checks their asses can't cash.
Typical comment in Klein's thread from the mea culpa post:
Idiots think 'respect' is more important than 'truth'. You really do belong in the same category Russert does.
That was about the kindest thing the EnemiesOfRussert could say.
I cannot say anything about the man, having never watched him in action. (I try to stay away from TV news in general.)
But I get the sense of many of the angry posters at Ezra's place (and the leftosphere) that should we read about them in the news, the neighbors will say He was a quiet guy. Kept to himself. as cops search their basement room.
From American Prospect Our Mission
Through dogged reporting, cool analysis, witty commentary and passionate argument, the Prospect strives to beat back the right wing and to build a majority of true patriots who understand what really makes America great.
The Russert Twitter exposes the Mission statement as empty rhetoric. Granted the Twitter was not for public consumption, but even in private why the inclination to engage in such hostile gutter sentiment?
Dr. Kill:
When I tended bar in my youth, it was a common event for me to firmly suggest that two angry customers "take it outside".
Then all the customers soon followed them to get a better view of the brawl.
Is Ms. Althouse like the old woman in Titusitsbedtime's story last night?
Is she shining a light into the bushes of other peoples blogs and saying, "Stop sucking dick!"?
er..minus the old of course :D
The Klein kid didn't acknowledge his Mother on Mother's Day, in his blog.
A Son has a blog. Mother's Day came and went without a public acknowledgement and online declaration of how much Mom means to him.
It's not enough to do it privately. If a son has a blog, Mom expects public recognition, and Mom was definitely hurt that she didn't get a mention in his blog, on her special day.
I think Maxine Weiss is back.
Presumably Larry Lessig will say that the leaked private message is null and void since it represents an unwarranted invasion of Klein's virtual rec room (although the toilet would be a better analog).

Agree. We live in a world where technology has usurped the physical (which is a plus for women), and now we can all be verbose supermen from behind the walls of our computer setups.
And what grown, real men use twitter?
Is Ms. Althouse like the old woman in Titusitsbedtime's story last night?
No.
"If you think those Yale law students ought to be able to sue the on-line idiots for saying what they did about them, don't you also have to believe Tim Russert had a cause of action against Ezra Klein?"
Jeeez, poor old Hugo Black is turning so much in his grave his Klan robes are getting all twisted.

i only have 960 brain cells and i can do better than that
jesus what a tool
Am I the only person who thinks Klein is way, way overrated.
I keep hearing that his health care work is so fabulous, other than being a fair writer he has absolutely no credentials in health care.
(Oh, come to think of it, most of the leading reforming have no credentials either.)
Any other votes for Klein being overrated?
Klein must be very young. He wanted to apologize to Russert, and that was the right instinct, even if just a professional strategy. But he couldn't get his email address! Oh nos! Fail!
Snail mail to an address no doubt listed on msnbc.com, c/o Tim Russert, Meet the Press, never crossed his still developing mind.

Not sure why women -- even liberal ones -- like these guys.

Yes. I don't see anything of particular interest in what he has to say, and he lacks Yglesias' charm and fluency.

I once saw a satire that postulated that we could generate all the power we needed if we wrapped someone-or-other's grave (I think Jackson's) in copper wire, the premise being that here was a man with a backbone of iron who's perpetually spinning in his grave.
This is a trash post on the level of one of Bill O'Reilly's retarded rants about hate sites. So let me see, a guy dies, so some blog twit digs up a negative comment made about the dead man before he died, so she can have something for her and her retarded neocons to rant about. What is the point, besides just pettiness? You people are scum!
Finn,
"And what grown, real men use twitter?"
None.
Save,
"Am I the only person who thinks Klein is way, way overrated."
No.
Save the rust belt:
I vote yes too. He is so bad, he should not even be rated.
As to his health care cred, he writes with confidence but mainly espouses one payer for all.
Meet The Press didn't have an address that they advertised at the end of every show? Don't all talking-heads news shows do that?
I can understand being embarrassed saying that, but it would've been long before it was leaked.
As for the old "take it outside", yeah, it's interesting to look at the old movies where that went on. And the old film directors who really did settle the occasional problem with a few punches.
What's different, looking back, is that, after blows were exchanged, it was supposed to be over. You didn't whine, you didn't gloat, and you sure as hell didn't sue.
This modern reflexive recourse to Authority seems unmanly.
Sports bets evolved to head off the need to take it outside.
Best comment of the day: "I miss the days when senseless shit like this was settled with a punch in the mouth or pistols at dawn."
So true. We live in the Golden Age of Whiny Little Shits.
Hardin:
I think pencils and writing evolved so sports bets could be recorded.
