It made me think of Batman comics from the 1950s, a character named DTL who would show up and -no matter what was happening in the story- berate Batman and Commissioner Gordon about gay marriage.
He was always leering at Robin, which I found kinda creepy, too. Thankfully, batman routinely beat the bejesus outta him.
