In a nutshell why he'll lose.
I can see the video just fine.
I don't expect perfection in off-the-cuff talking by candidates, so while this is good for a guffaw, that's about it.
Ah yes, a video capture provided by a guy who gets to sit in front of his keyboard wearing his tighty whiteys, all the while never having to speak in front of, oh you know like real people.
Just a few seconds snipped from literally hours of speeches by John McCain, proving what?
Well, absolutely nothing frankly. Which brings us to TPM and the potential for value added that TPM brings to any endeavor.

I love his look right after those mistakes. His eyes go real wide as he realizes, like it was a jolt waking him up.

True... I am sure it was from hours and hours of video available from that particular day.
Still, it was pretty damn funny.
It won't lose him any far-right conservative votes that he hadn't already lost, but it might capture a few moderate to liberal independent votes.
For that reason I don't see the Dems pushing this a lot.

He's tired, and we get to see how he slips when he's tired. It's funny and it's a little revealing.
Gaffes like this are boring. They remind me of people who collect all the mistakes in movies, like someone wearing a green jacket in one scene, but carrying it in another. Wow, that's reeeeally interestingzzzzzz.

Glad to learn he won't be throwing any hate bombs or fear bombs.
Unfortunately, the misspeaking is a reminder of his age. Which is seventy two. Not so good. It's a long way to November with many long days ahead of campaigning in the summer heat.
And Bushy inarticulateness in the face of Hurricane Obama will not be so helpful either.

It was during the Las Vegas Democratic debate.
Hillary lets him go on and on-patiently waiting for her turn and then-
She swooshes in grabs the microphone-turns around to the younger adroit candidate and says-
I think you meant RAISE taxes, Barack
"My campaign will be dispirited, because I'm a proud conservative liberal..."
Straight talk at last!
The "dispirited" part is an obvious gaffe, but it seems that it's entirely possible to be a "conservative liberal," depending on what you mean by those terms.
The word "liberal" has of course come to mean something entirely different than it meant classically. "Conservatism," imho, is best understood as not so much exemplifying a concrete set of policy beliefs, but simply as a habit of mind that says "when it is not necessary to change, it is necessary not to change" (a formula that Albert Jay Nock, a self-described "philosophical anarchist" and "radical," apparently approved of and subscribed to). As such, it seems it could co-exist in the mind of both the classical liberal and the vulgar liberal/socialist.
I am betting John McCain will be able to weather this storm much better than Barack Obama will handle his second amendment problem--he is way out of touch with even main line democratic voters on gun control.
I am not sure how this hurts McCain. Conservatives already believe that he is a liberal republican, but most will be voting for him anyway.
Yay, 8 more months of MSM donations in kind to the DNC in order to guarantee an Obama win.
Freudian slip. McCain is not a conservative. He is a liberal in disguise and is lying to us with every breath he takes. This is why I will never vote for him.

I agree with the funny part, but what does it reveal? People thought, perhaps unfairly, that Kerry's "I was for it before I was against it" slip was revealing, in that it showed a tendency to straddle, a desire to play both sides against the middle, and generally a willingness to fudge for advantage. It left a sense that the guy was a bit of a phony.
This shows that, when McCain gets tired, he mixes up his sound bites to the point where they come out like a verbal tossed salad. That's the sort of failing that most people can identify with. How is it revealing, exactly?
It's revealing because it's true but not something he'd say if he were fully alert.
