Lions and tigers and bears, oh my, They give me the same nightmares at night, As mammoths huge hairy and tusked (sigh) Gave my ancestor hominids fright.
I should have taken the trouble to do an extra shot of the information cards so I could label things properly. A mastodon is the more amazing animal too, isn't it? I feel bad about disrespecting it.

Can't wait til that new movie 2,500 B.C. comes out. It looks pretty good with dinosaurs, sabretooth tigers, etc.
The "mammoth" is a mastodon. Here's a description of the AMNH specimen, which is known as the "Warren mastodon."
The bigger one in the background is a mammoth. That fisheye lens really messes with the scale!
AJ, are you only going to watch 25%

The 25% with the special effects might be a good movie....
That turtle! Remember it well on a visit to NYC. Walked in and happened to look up.
Wow!!!!!!
Only time in my life I have been awed by a turtle.

The snarky Liberal observer:
It's nice to know that you can still find conservatives in New York.
Ha! These are great.
John Hawks, thanks. I knew when I wrote that I was taking a chance.
Everything turns into bones,
Everything crumples and dies,
I know that it's stupid to ask,
But why? Why? WHY?
John Hawks, thanks. I knew when I wrote that I was taking a chance.
Well, an unnatural knowledge of proboscideans is not necessarily a good thing!
