If you do indeed end up voting for Hillary the only conclusion one can draw from it is that you are a frivolous person, someone not to be taken seriously. Not because you had voted for her per se, but more because you voted for her knowing full well what's wrong with her, what the knock is against her (knock, hell, knowing the multitudinous knocks against her), knowing how fundamentally flawed she is. And your vote would then have to be seen solely as a gender solidarity thing. Like I said, frivolous.
Surely, there is at least one candidate out there who is without fault, and I intend to vote for that person.
Now, if it is true that nobody's perfect, then in order to preserve my seriousness, I will have to stop paying attention to the candidates. If I am not aware of their flaws, then I won't have to worry about people suggesting that I am frivolous for voting for one of them, despite being aware of his or her flaws.
Here in ultra-progressive and ultra-green (at least posturing wise) Santa Monica, there are those who don't want you to even have the choice of "paper or plastic".
They are encouraging everyone to haul in and use reusable canvas bags on every shopping trip.
The big progressive dream, a whole city of bag ladies (and bag men).
It's how they do it in Europe afterall, so it must be superior.
TightSpotKilo - one votes for the candidate one thinks will do the least damage. For the lesser evil. That's how elections work in grown-up land; I really don't like Huckabee, but if he's our nominee, I'm going to vote for him even "knowing how fundamentally flawed []he is" because any of the people the other party are likely to nominate strike me as being muc worse. I might not agree with Ann as to the calculus as to which nominee is the lesser evil, but it's hardly frivolity to undertake the calculation. It's how elections work.

Demonstrating again that the Left chose a Republic out of Hope, the Right out of cynicism.

A great deal of democratic enthusiasm descends from the ideas of people like Rousseau, who believed in democracy because they thought mankind so wise and good that everyone deserved a share in the government. The danger of defending democracy on these grounds is that they are not true....Mankind is so fallen that no man can be trusted with unchecked power over his fellows." - C.S. Lewis
When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful, a miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical. And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily, joyfully, playfully watching me. Won't you please, please tell me what we've learned I know it sounds absurd but please tell me who I am. Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical, liberal, fanatical, criminal. Ann you "might" say you are a Hillary voter-but your subconscious knows better.
So--how is the Overlook Hotel? I hear it is quiet this time of year.
Peoples' dreams about Hillary Clinton....that would be amusing...Probably be a lot of Angela Lansbury red queen type stuff.
I watched about half of your video. A little long...
You should have hired an actor or two or three to do something outside the windows, pretend to be burglars or make out or eat a sandwich...while you continued, oblivious.
When Hillary! was a girl, she had a penpal in England. Even then Hillary! affected an accent, by writing "colour" and "favourite" "theatre" and such. Free dream analysis: Like Madawaskan intimated, Hillary is running for Queen. And not the cool Freddy Mercury kind, either.
Althouse: You know your favourite comment--It was Palladian riffing on Verso saying something about his 'recto' being covered. That should make the search quicker.
That's why they release the Oscar hopefuls at the end of the year. Ann's not the only one who can't remember January 2007. Our memories seem to little respect the divisions of the calendar.
I don't know about the best comment, but there was a thread in late march or early April which had the first appearance of both Titus and tc. Now that's entertainment!
Well, I finally had a chance to watch the vlog. Let me get this straight. You had a dream where you and Hillary had a pillow fight and Hillary is talking in an English Accent. Are you trying to kill Simon? The sensory overload to his imagination is going to fry his synapses. Have mercy! It won't be a good start to have one of your best commenters have his head explode! Be nice teacher.

"solely as a gender solidarity thing"
What? Have you been reading this blog very long? That's based on less than nothing I've ever said.
Paper or Plastic? Romney and Edwards , definitely plastic. Thompson, paper, and the rest you pick 'em!
Please don't need crises to blog well! Make the positive arty too!
The set, the hair, the black sweater...you're workin' your '60's spy thriller vibe, like The Avengers!
Semper Vlog!

One doesn't dream about Hillary, one only has nightmares.

And as far as badness . . .
Mae West has it covered.

Ann you "might" say you are a Hillary voter-but your subconscious knows better.
Was she speaking The Queen's English?
When you've got trouble-who has your back?
When America has trouble...?
"Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're acceptable, respectable, presentable, a vegetable!"
You don't want to get me started on Clinton and the vegetables.

So, what were the top ten most memorable comments from your readers from 2007? Not necessarily best or worst, just memorable?
Windbag, do you have any idea how hard it would be to search the comments from a whole year?

If you had to search for them, they wouldn't be memorable, would they? Surely, a few stand out from the rest.
I appreciate things but don't have them in accessible memory... other than in Ruth Anne's head.
The verso/recto thing is here.

Is it just me, or has the comment section calmed down a little? Knock on wood and all that.
Sorry if my pointing this out jinxes everything.
