I watched the clip -- famous chess players lose weight while playing. I figured it's cause they forgot to eat and because they're keyed up and nervous -- not necessarily 'cause they're thinking.
Let's be clear. You can't lose that much fat even if you've run 100 miles. What may have occurred is simple dehydration. Water-loss is very common during stressful activities, and is the easiest way to temporarily lose weight.
I'd bet donuts to dollars that the weight was put right back on within 24 hours of the end of the tournament.
