Guy on plane wearing shorts makes his way to Festival, steals guitar and poses like celebrity.

Perhaps he's in that new documentary the Times is talking about where people in New York just break into song and then the filmmaker captures people's reactions to it: Musical.

That explains why we didn't see him in Time Square yesterday.

A few years ago, a friend of mine helped finance a local filmmaker's documentary about the Naked Cowboy. It was shown at a few theaters in our area.

It would have been easy to have made a film that ridiculed him and maybe he deserves such treatment. But the portrait was gentler than that. My friend met the Naked Cowboy a few times and came away feeling that he was earnest and not, as one might expect, a nut.

The appeal of the Naked Cowboy escapes me. But Ron is right, his simple gig has turned out to be both lucrative and appealing.

I am cowboy, here me roar,
Not no hustler, not no whore;
My choice of undies: BVD's;
Nicely nestled my big balls be.

I would guess enhanced, too--better change that to lil' balls--steroids cause testicular atrophy.

How does he make money? Do people stuff his shorts with bills?

A treasured pic o mine is g-mom, mom and g-daughter wid that pretend nekkid cowboy. When i get to it, it will be blown up and put on a prominent wall to document how pretend daring the wimmin in our family are.

Mark Daniels is right, though. He was gracious down to his not so uncovered parts. We luved him for his music...
