Thanks to Facebook customer service.
They did a nice job of responding to my complaint about someone who was impersonating me -- noted here -- and deleted the account.

And yet, you still don't know the identity of the "Prominent Blogger" who was impersonating you.
You feel it's ok for the Whole Foods guy to impersonate whoever.....
But, when someone impersonates you....it's unfair.
Either impersonation is ok, all the time......or it's not. Which is it?
That was a pretty quick response on Facebook's part. Nice.
Maxine, come on. The Whole Foods guy didn't impersonate a specific individual, but had a nom de plume. Not even similar.
Sock Puppet ≠ Identity theft
I only became aware of the Facebook "impersonation" when it was mentioned in a previous blog entry. I then checked the Facebook listings and, based on what I saw that day, judged the other listing to fall short of qualifying as an impersonation. Other than being juvenile and a minor annoyance, was the other Facebook listing causing a problem?
No disrespect intended, but this strikes me as a more serious and interesting Facebook-related problem.
Facebook is a particular type of service and it bans impersonation. If people search my name, I want them to find my profile, not a fake one. Facebook offers me that service, and I don't want it screwed up by some idiot who is abusing it for his personal expression.
We should all be so lucky to have enemies with the names "Brad" and "Andrew".
Althouse gets to have detractors with names like Brad and Andrew.
Maxine's enemies have names like: "Hymen" "Gertrude", and "Methusala".
