It's a good day...
To be born...
The same day...
As Lydia Lunch and Frank Rich ...
And Jerry Mathers and the Marquis de Sade ...
And Johnny Weismuller, Martha Washington, and Thomas Hardy ...
You could go anywhere.

Happy Birthday, Katie!
In the third picture down and the last picture there's a cloud in the shape of the Iberian peninsula. Just thought I'd let you know.
Excellent.
Make a wish.
But why conceive a kid in September? September is a busy month. Too busy for conception, unless you are Althouse, I guess.
Happy Birthday Christopher, or is it Chris?
And, on a Saturday, too. Enjoy it, because next year's leap year, and you won't be able to have another weekend birthday for awhile.
The Cloud Appreciation Society wants you...

If you click on 'Select Category,' you will find that there is a type of cloud called "Mamma."
Who knew?
And how comforting.
It is my birthday!
What a coincidence to have this post today:
As of 5:44 this morning, today is also the birthday of my third grandchild!
Maxine:
But why conceive a kid in September?
Well, you really want to know the truth of the matter, my new granddaughter was conceived during hunting season. My daughter swears the next time my son-in-law asks her to go hunting, she'll say, 'no.'
"But why conceive a kid in September?"
Labor Day?
Start of the NFL (LOTS of guys would, ahem, get up for that) or college football?
Last chance at the bikini-clad babe?
Start of school??
Anyway, my own first child was conceived approximately around the time my team beat the damned Cowboys. Hooray, on two scores. I never asked my parents about my own conception. Too embarrassed, and now I couldn't ask even if I wished. Which I'm not sure I do.
Regardless, I'm reasonably sure most guys don't need much of an excuse. But maybe I'm projecting.
Or maybe your question was directed toward women?
Eli: Congratulations!
Is this a post on the Beatles theme? "They say it's your birthday ... "
Mortimer: Happy birthday!
Amba: Good idea, but Beatles aren't right for this one... A personal thing.
I'm a June baby... but not until the end of the month. As for being conceived in September, that was my parents' anniversary month. Even as an adult, I really don't wish to think about my conception. ewwww Just ewwww.
By the way - the pictures are delightful. Whimsical and random.
I have decided that I am inspired by your photography. When I was a teen in the 70s, my dad had a darkroom set up in our basement. It wasn't an expensive endeavor, he bought the stuff at garage sales and such. He taught my brother and I how to develop 35mm black-and-white film. It was such a thrill to see the pictures take form in the trays of chemicals. I took pictures of everything and everyone.
Then I 'grew up' and the hobby took a backseat and I never returned to it.
When I got a digital camera, I thought it was the best thing! How cheap it was to just take pictures of anything. But I haven't been doing that lately. My camera collects dust on top of my desk now. But that is going to change. I'm resolved to carry it with me everywhere. Back in the fall, before I shelved the camera, I took my dogs for a walk and enjoyed my own personal random photo moment. The pics came out okay, a little blur though, but I was holding on to the leash of two very active dogs!.
It is interesting to think that persons such as Thomas Hardy actually lived, had birthdays, and then died. The mind's eye too often thinks of them merely as authors, rather than actual human beings.
