An unusual sink.

It's rustic, yet impractical. Cool, yet absurd.

A strange sink

You'll find it at Cibo, a restaurant in Austin, where we've eaten twice. Not only does it have great food, good atmosphere, and nice music, it stays open all day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. I have a thing -- not that I do it all the time -- of only eating once a day -- it's all about the ghrelin -- and my favorite time for a nice meal is 4 in the afternoon.

More pics of Cibo:

Ciba

Ciba

Mmmm.... supplì.

DSCCiba

Mmmm.... gnocchi.

And the Little City café is right next door, so you can hang out and drink coffee all day and -- whenever you get hungry -- stumble next door... taking the free WiFi with you.

Are you a barbecue fan, Ann? Got a favorite place for barbecue in Austin? If so, could you photograph a nice piece of brisket, I haven't seen one in years..... :)

Food as art. Even if it tastes good it's usually too expensive and there isn't enough of it.

I've never been able to get this "food experience" thing. It's probably just me.

uh oh ... food stuff in Austin. Althouse practically asks for this ...
If you can't make the 60 mile drive from Austin to Eurestes Grocery in Waelder, TX, then you really should drive out to the Salt Lick in Driftwood... for BBQ, that is.

If you like Cibo, did you try Zoot yet. And, we hear that Sazon is a recent hot spot.

Finally, don't leave without hitting Fonda San Miguel... Oaxaca decor and Mexican interior cuisine. Mango margaritas.

Ohhh, I need lunch.

$16.00 for a bowl of Spaghetti?

Over $10.00 for "gnocchi"....which is just potatoes! That's all it is.

I buy a sack of 2 dozen potatoes for less than $2.00.

My those plates have awfully big borders.....

More plate than food = rip off.

Sure hope Althouse is an expense account.

Love, Maxine

That’s a fancy sink, alright. Now maybe they’ll do something to update that hand dryer.

The best barbeque in Austin is 20 miles south of Austin in Lockhardt. Four great restaurants (Blacks, Chisholm Trail, Kreuz, Smittys Market) have made "this" the barbeque capital of Texas.

And I second Paul's comment about Fonda San Miguel. The food is fabulous.

Eat once a day?

I might be able to pull that off...but only buffet style, with carving station, cheese table, etc.

Food looks great. Sink is attractive interesting but not very hygenic I would imagine.

OMG, thank you sooooo much for sharing this with us. My day is COMPLETE.

Unknown म्हणाले...

Would you like to SEE what I ate today? MMMM

Sigivald म्हणाले...

Suppli? Ought to be a set of shelves sold at IKEA.

Maxine: More plate than food means less mess.

Ronin: I don't know about you, but I endeavor not to touch the sink at all (except for handles) when I wash my hands; thus the rocks and metal finish don't much matter.

Spoken like a true midwesterner!

:)

Really, Chuck? What would they say in San Francisco?

Bruce Hayden म्हणाले...

Some things are the same, and it seems more are different in the almost decade since I moved away. Back then, Barbeque meant the Salt Lick.

Buffy म्हणाले...

I'm trying to eat clean today. But everyone's blogging food.

No help.

At all.

I need gnocchi.

I've gone long periods of eating once a day, just for convenience.

Who knew it made me even smarter?
