There's a rose garden -- complete with historical plaque -- on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol:

And let us also embrace the beauty of what happens when God and Man and Pigeon work together.

That pigeon poo is ideal fertilizer for the roses. God love 'em.
I beg your pardon. I never promised you a rose garden. Along with the sunshine, there's gotta' be a little rain sometime.
Ruth Anne with an "e"!!!
(O, be still, my Stage 1 Hypertension heart!)
Love the font.
Will the Christianist theocratic horror never cease?!?
Just a note to remind folks that Austin is part of Texas only once every two years, and then for about 5 months. This Austin / Texas juxtaposition coincides with the meeting of the Texas legislature, during which Texas representatives are forced, practically at gun point to enter Austin. During these meetings of the Texas legislature, you'll find the folks in Austin trying atypically to act as Texan as possible. They pull cowboy hats and cowboy boots and bolo ties out of mothball-filled bags in their closets and actually wear them.
The rest of each two year period, you'll find the Austin populace regularly giving the rest of Texas the finger.
Thus the genus of the phenomenon of what folks in the legislature call Austin bashing.
Ruth Anne: great minds think alike, those were the first words that came to my mind.
Hezakiah 4:4 verse 3:
Thou shall not pee in the lake. Otherwise, poop away.
You better look before you leap,
Still waters run deep,
And there won't always be someone there to pull you out,
And you know what I'm talkin' about.
Pretty rose. Wonder if it was named for John Tyler or Tyler, Texas. (Then again, Tyler, Texas is probably named for John Tyler ;-).
Inquiring minds want to know: Did it have any scent?
Okay that skit was meaningul.. and LOVELY.. and WARM.. and good-spirited........ you should learn to take insults, considering how often you dole them out........
Of course in Austin, the Tyler Rose is Earl Campbell.
I don't know about John Tyler, but I know that Tyler, Texas is a good place to buy rose bushes. You can't escape that news if you're on I-20 between Dallas and Shreveport.

Nor the speedtraps in Van Zandt County.
wikipedia says that Tyler (the Rose Capitol of America) was indeed named after John Tyler, who advocated Texas joining the US.
