"I was so enthralled with the line, I didn't see the ball mark."

"I knew if I hit it left-center, the match would be over. It's my fault for not paying attention to detail."

Yes, but I do love your detail in reflecting on what happened.

Woods is amazing. His skill level is far and away above anyone on the tour. Can't wait for him to hit is prime, however.

He also never blames anyone but himself when things don't turn out right for him. He takes responsibility in a sincere way. He is a nice person and approachable and puts his charitable money where his mouth is.

There are few who wish him anything but good. Not so bad and his quote is really a better way of saying "forest for the trees".

Personal responsibility is inherent in the nature of golf. The key is not that you take it, but that you take it well.

There is a very nice current film on I think Encore called "The Greatest Game Ever Played". It has a lot of maudlin in it but if you are an avid golfer (50 years here) and the honorable play on the tour, ... well you may enjoy it.

joated...what is particularly of interest is that there are about 6-8 playes in less than a shot of him in scoring average - yet he wins so frequently...outside the projections that that 1 stroke should allow him.

frankly i'm astounded that there are so few posts here. Woods and the professional golfer in general exhibit so many admirable things...honor, honesty, humbleness, self responsibility...its a perfect role model.

I was at the US Open in Southampton perhaps 10 years ago and watched the eventual winner Corey Pavin call a 2 shot moving ball penalty on someone he was playing with. In the NFL, NHL or NBA a fight would have ensued. On the tour, the offending golfer asked for a ruling from the USGA and it held against him. Although saddened and upset, he took it and moved on. There were no hard feelings against Pavin...as Pavin later said, he was representing the field not him alone...frankly it was a magnificent moment in sports and if we all behaved that way....well frankly, hillary, mccain, rudy and rush could go scratch as they wouldn't be needed to run our affairs.
