The 2006 Weblog Awards.

They're taking nominations.

Discontinued categories: Best Group Blog (though there still is best individual blog, interestingly), Best Blog Design (who cares anymore... is that it?), and Best Religious Blog (yet there remain categories for science, technology, and medicine...).

Ann:
If there were such a category, I'd nominate Althouse for Best Group Blog by an Individual.

Hey, look! You're nominated for Best Blog. [Scroll down to 212th comment].

You certainly deserve to win.

Thanks, Ruth Anne. (If I wanted the best chance of winning... the category should be individual blog.)

Who decides who makes the final cut?

Got it. Comment 216 in Best Individual Blog. I'm working on a masthead mention.

I nom'd for the podcast yesterday, on the logic that it might encourage, y'know, further podcasting. LOL.

I need to do a podcast! Skipping a week caused additional skipping. I never believe I have anything to say, but when I was committed to recording every week, I just said something. Now, when I feel I have nothing to say -- which is always -- I just don't start recording. I need to put myself on the spot again.

I find it a little hard to believe that you'd have nothing to say. :) So much to talk about in the last few weeks!

Simon: I feel like I've said it already, though. I like to bring something new to the podcast, to play off old posts where I feel there's a digression waiting to take place, where I get to find out something new by talking.

I saw Ann nominated in some of the other categories so I nominated her in the Culture one.

"Vain."

Vanity appertains only to excessive pride in one's appearance, qualities, abilities, achievements, etc.
