The squirrel's suicide, while sadly misguided, was highly appropriate to the genre. Most operas are romantic tragedies, and in some the death toll rivals the body count in "Hamlet." Two of the most famous exits are Madama Butterfly's hara-kiri and Brunnhilde's immolation. And of course there's the aria "Suicidio!" from "La Gioconda."
On the other hand, maybe the squirrel made the ultimate sacrifice to spare the audience from this tenor's singing.
Oh, HO! Methink's it weren't an accident! How much you wanna bet the squirrel was sent by the understudy, hmmm? I think this was somebody tryin' to get ahead in the world, and simply convinced this poor, gullible squirrel to sacrifice itself for that cause.
Well, this is Europe, so shouldn't it be Squirrels for 4/9 Truth?
:)
I'm just waiting for the single bike meme, the "why didn't the police intercept the squirrel" meme, the "it was a military bike" meme, the "it was a military squirrel" meme, and the "squirrel doesn't exists, it's an invention of the neocons" meme.
Anyone catch this on video? I wonder if the tenor fell faster than freefall...

From the Reuter's story:
"The squirrel died in the accident."

There should be an investigation.
Haven't you heard of Squirrels for 9/4 Truth?
Where are the moderate squirrels who are now forced to bury nuts like these instead of the nuts they want?
I suppose it's not pc to ask, but one wonders if these are IRocky squirrels...

Stingrays that bump off celebs are more interesting than squirrels that cause accidents......
It took me til the last sentence of the article to realize it wasn't the squirrel who broke his nose.
