Saltwater crocs did the deed(s) in a fit of misguided jealousy over not being able to kill the dummy who antagonized and pestered their kind with a lawnmower and food and who would not hand over that plump infant for a snack. Typical behavior of those who resent the success of others.

That's good because it will end the stringrays' nefarious plotting.
Oh stingray, where is thy death?
...sorry.
No way. Hoax.
Wasn't this the plot to 'The Life Aquatic'?
Stop the stingrayophobia!
Where are my placards and demonstrating shoes? This calls for a protest!
(It also calls for morons to quit killing stingrays. We all know that it's the jellyfish that are really plotting against us.)
I read somewhere that briefly after Irwin's death, someone vandalized Wikipedia's page on stingrays to read simply "Bastards Killed Steve Irwin!"
How sad, and a little ironic, if these attacks on the stingrays really are being done to avenge Irwin's death.
Steve would be among the most outraged and upset by these attacks on a usually harmless animal.
I love how wikipedia can generate it's own urban mythology!
Gahrie has it right.
Obviously, someone who apparently considers themselves a 'Steve Irwin fan' did not pay any attention at all to what Steve Irwin was all about.

If the stringrays were found with their tails in their mouths, I'd suspect the mafia.
