This is a neat piece of artwork, BTW. Had you seen this before and thought of it as 5 million approached or did you go looking for something appropriate?
I was just creating a blogroll link to Ann's site.
Found it a couple of days ago.
I am probably in the running for the 5 millionth link...
I had to keep viewing it to format my link list - I have been accused of pyramid worship or something. So, I have been making changes on my silly little blog (looking up at 5,000 visitors) and viewing Ann's site for the past 5 - 10 minutes...
It was this one. Somebody in LA who came in from Instapundit to the Newsweek Kos thing at 10:56.
And Site Meter won't count you if you keep coming back. You have to be gone -- I don't know -- at least half an hour for it to see you as a new visitor.
But then again, I wasn't actually aware of the mini-contest... Just found the blog via: "If any of us blog on this right now, we fuel the story. Let's starve it of oxygen." - either through an InstaLaunch or the Anchoress. Had to comment on that fiasco, talked about her cat, wanted a cat blog posting (got it, a cutie), and then looked at some fine architecture...
So I wanted to link in my BlogRoll...
Dang Site Meter - I probably would have had it without the repeat thang... Looks like I was the 4,999,996th visitor :-{
DJR: I guess it wasn't a stable link. I originallyy had the 5 millionth there, with the characteristics I stated. I guess you can't permalink into Site Meter.

Damn! I'm only visitor number 4,997,746.
5 million!
Damn. Just 4,999,564.
I never won those radio call-in shows, either.

5,000,007. Who's the lucky 5,000,000th?

As the captain said in the movie Midway:
Gosh Darm It!!!
Close, but no cigar...

Many happy returns!
Do you think these million milestones will ever get ho-hum?
Loved that painting as a child. Thanks for bringing back the memory.
Heck...I'd be happy for 5,000! Or 500, he said sheepishly. Congratulations!
Internet Ronin: It's a famous painting I've seen many times.
I don't doubt your comment but I'm trying to understand how sitemeter works. If the LA visitor was #5,000,000 then why does the link show this?
"Visit Number 5,004,002"
Maybe it keeps counting and I was #5,004,0002?
