"Bedgate: Rice on floor, Straw in bed."

Headline of the day.

MORE: Am I the only person who read that headline and thought "Tie on-a the bed, throw the rope out the window"?

I read the headline and pictured grains of rice on the floor, and straw and hay in a bed. I couldn't figure out how this could be news.

She sounds like a good host!

The obvious study in contrast... the graciousness of Rice, the peevishness of McKinney. Beauty and the Be...err, uh, never mind.......

Another bit of non-news? But amusing nonetheless.

Refreshing to see something other than demonization of Bush staff from the press.

This is one of the more charming stories I've read in a long, long time.

I vote for no feminist backlash: what we have here is a (perhaps quaint, in these days) traditional sense of hostly manners--AND why etiquette can actually PROMOTE egalitarianism.

As my grandmother would have said: Her mama raised her right.

Yep, I was being ironic! But thanks for the lengthy reply anyway.
