Did everyone make New Year's resolutions to start blogging last year and a few years ago? Seems these blogiversaries keep popping up.
Congratulations, ignore the inevitable snipers in this thread, and enjoy the heaps of praise you are likely to receive and have earned.
You even partly inspired me, and I'm sure a few other of your frequent readers/commenters, to try this thing called blogging out.
(I know, I know, that might be a strike against you, but you aren't completely to blame)
I look forward to as many blogiversaries as you intend to extend to your 'audience', it's a privilege to watch your mind work and catch the more candid, less structured, musings of a formidable mind.
You have made the blogosphere a better place. So good to know you're out there, day by day, shining your transcendant light into the dark corners of this tired old world.
Ann, your blog shares a birthday with such disparate people as:
Author John Dos Passos; murderer Colin Ferguson; Mayflower madam Sydney Biddle Barrows; director Lawrence Kasdan ("Big Chill," for example, and appropriately enough); actor/writer Thomas Tryon (of "I Married A Monster From Outerspace" fame); 60 Minutes' commentator Andy Rooney; photographer Cecil Beaton; doctor/humanitarian/organist/Nobel Prize winner Albert Schweitzer; painers Morisot and de Bock; Benedict Arnold; and Calvin Phillips, who has the unlikely honor of the shortest known adult male ever (67cm; 2'2").
Seems appropriate to me! You'd be able to find something fresh and interesting to say about any of those people, which is why this blog is so great. (
(And that is the [very] short list!)
This is also the day, back in 1873, when "Celluloid" was registered as a trademark.
ReaderIam: Yeah, I do need to do a podcast. The idea of doing the "odd last year" is interesting, though perhaps too like that New Year's Eve one I just did.
Thanks to all for the congrats and good luck to all others who have started blogs and reached milestones either near this one of mine or not.
Congratulations! I can't believe only two years ago I ran into you in a law school hallways and you resisted resisted resisted the idea and then --- resisted no more. To the next two, to the tenth.
Sounds like you may not be into New Age stuff - but, I did a quick check on Jonathan Cainer's site for what the stars had to say two years ago. This was it:
The Sun and Venus favour artistic, inventive and creative endeavours now. Don't do what's obvious or predictable. Be bold, brave and brilliant. And you'll be fine.
Sounds rather fitting - especially the bold, brave & brilliant part.
Or as Victoria said of those who called Ann Althouse a "house whore" and a "bile bitch":
"I have no quarrel with the LGF crowd.
I am significantly more traditionalist than many another blogreader of Althouse's, and thus, don't mind LGF's testosterone-led Republican brio on occasion."
Like a warm living room, fire stoked, Lucy Kaplansky over the stereo, warm hot chocolate in hand.
Like a wife, smart and capable, independent yet comforting, able to laugh and share, bitch and moan, always welcome.
Like the variety of the New York Times, except written by a person with deeper intuition, keener suspicion, and greater attention to truth.
Like a gentle snow falling, casting a blue white light over the darkness, viewed from the window, warming the heart.
Like a Paul Revere, riding the countryside, warning of potential horror (PJM), despite the detractors (like me), who thought it was a PMS moment.
You are all these things, and more. A beautifully written and entertaining blog. Congratulations on the two year, and may the coming years bring ample reward from your continued efforts and enthusiasm. And may God, if he exists in the form we imagine, bless your efforts and continue to warm you with success and joy.

Happy b-day, A!
Like Yoda you speak, yes? Proud Prof. B would be. Powerful you have become.
Congratulations and Happy Blogiversary!
It's also Victoria's 1 year anniversary and Reader's 2-month.
Stop by and wish them well.
Congrats.
Congratulations, Ann! Mine will be around four years in late May. But your blog is the one that my blog most wants to be like when it grows up.

Congrats Ann!
Your's is a great blog in many ways. I look forward to what you have to offer and hope to be visiting for years to come.
Happy Anniversary Ann. You've become one of my daily stops when I check out what people are blogging about.
TFM will be a year old in May, I started blogging at a chess blog on AOL in Feb 2005. I've learned a few things in the last year.
Bill
¡Feliz cumpleaños!
And many, many more!
Congratulations, Ann!!
I cannot believe that you and I sat down one January day, 1 year and 1 day apart, and decided to click on "Get a Blog".
It must be something about January, which makes one think of new possibilities.
Keep on keeping on, Professor Althouse!
Cheers,
Victoria
Thanks XWL and Pastor_Jeff! :)
As for the snipers, forgettaboutthem.
Losers, dweebs, and malcontents the lot.
They probably stink too.
Cheers,
Victoria

One of the best blogs out there, tells the tale of a mum coping with life in a spirited manner, which is a joy to read.
And hey, Ruth Anne's blog is also a January baby -- 26th January, to be exact.
Don't forget to wish her well, then, too. :)
Cheers,
Victoria
Whoops . . . should have done a spell check . . . transcendent with an e.
Wow! A blog that's twice as good, more informative, and twice the age of mine, give or take a few days.
Happy Blogiversary!

Happy Blog-day to youuuu...
Happy Blog-day to youuuu...
Happy Blog-day, dear A-Aaaannn
Happy Blog-day to you!
Is there a special anniversary Audible Althouse podcast in the offing?
You know, honoring "the odd last two years on a blog called Althouse ..."
(That's more like it)
ReaderIam: Yeah, I do need to do a podcast. The idea of doing the "odd last year" is interesting, though perhaps too like that New Year's Eve one I just did.

Happy Blog Birthday! My only regret is I didn't discover you during your first year. Here's hoping for many more!
Happy Anniversary! May your blogging continue for many years, and may your comments be troll free. /cheers
Happy blog-birthday!
Congratulations, Ann!

"What trouble?"

Congratulations on your endurance, and on building up such a good blog community!
But you know, only very egotistical people engage in such blatant self-promotion around arbitrary milestones.
:P
Congratulations!
It might not be too much like the New Year's if you did the odd TWO last years ... then you could even include the other one you used to have.
Congratulations Ann!
Congratulations, and may you have many more years of blogging.
As Piglet would say (or write): HIPY PAPY BLGGDY BLOOGY GLOBDAY!
Congratulations! I can't believe only two years ago I ran into you in a law school hallways and you resisted resisted resisted the idea and then --- resisted no more.
To the next two, to the tenth.
Happy 2nd!
You have many admirers.
Happy b-day!
