"Cameron offers audio commentary, and so does a much welcome and much sassier Kate Winslet. "
Come on, you know you want the new, improved DVD of "Titanic." DiCaprio does not contribute. Is he being snooty or does he know he's not good at commentary? Who cares? More audio time for the divine Miss Winslet.

Yum, Kate Winslet. My absolute favorite actress.
For the TRUE Kate Winslet fan:
Deep and Infinite - The fanlisting for the song "Juliet's Aria (Sono Andati)" sung by Kate Winslet

Her singing in "Sense and Sensibility" was sublime as well.
I'm sure Leo wasn't being paid enough.
My favorite Winslet movie is Heavenly Creatures. A few friends from film school and I pretty much revere this movie.

PatCA: Yeah, I revere that movie too. Have seen it many times.
Love Winslet, and even have some respect for DiCaprio after his turn in "Catch Me If You Can", which was just brilliant. Titanic, on the other hand, remains an irritant, and will probably never be anything but.
Re: what BoneUSA said...
Isn't that the truth? Ricky Gervais sure must have some serious juice these days to get all of those super powerful stars to come on that show and make utter fools of themselves. Kate Winslet as "The Slut". Patrick Stewart as "Bonehead Actor". Ben Stiller as "Big Fat Jerk". They all deserve special recognition for being cool enough to do that.
Dave, well spoken. I saw it once, and DeCaprio was so miscast it wasn't funny. (Or rather, it was funny). Awful film, nice boat.
And Kate did nothing, NOTHING for me, and I was prepared to dislike her the rest of my days till I saw her in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and decided that I loved her.
If you like Kate Winslet's singing, you'll want to rush out and buy Sandra Boynton's new children's book/CD Dog Train, which includes Winslet singing the duet "I Need a Nap" with none other than Weird Al Yankovich. You're supposed to be able to listen to a bit of the song at http://www.sandraboynton.com/sboynton/boyntonmusic.html, but so far I haven't been able to make it work.
Kate Winslet isn't just a beautiful woman and an enormously talented actress; she's hip and quick on her feet (I love seeing her interviewed) and has the atristic sense to pass over traditional "pretty girl" roles in favor of well-written characters in interesting films. And I really admire how she came out and said that the magazine cover had airbrushed her photo, because she's not that skinny in real life and wouldn't want to be. *swoon*
I have to admit that Winslet has become considerably less appealing with every year that goes by and every pound she sheds. The horrible credit card ads were the last straw. None-the-less Titanic was her peak, in terms of really quite good acting ability and sheer, drop-dead beauty.
Tim:
"I agree with Simon that Miss Winslet looked a bit better when she was a bit curvier, but she's still a beauty. She was great in Quills, Eternal Sunshine, but she was naked in Titanic and Heavenly Creatures. Thusly, they are superior."
Curvier, and a redhead, no less importantly. Without meaning any slight to our hostess, blondes - real, or as in Winslet's case, bottle - really aren't attractive, IMHO.
Simon: I don't consider myself a blonde. I am a redhead ravaged by the force of time. It's not a choice. It's a surrender.
Wildaboutharrie...I think it would have been a nice role to introduce a fresh face, or at least someone more rugged in appearance.
Uh, no, I don't.
Winslet is marvelous, otherwise, but the original version of Titanic sent me into an insulin shock from which I've only recently recovered.
Re: I don't consider myself a blonde. I am a redhead ravaged by the force of time.
Interesting. Now, I'm currently a redhead because I was a blonde ravaged by time. (Although, I must say--stereotype alert!--red better reflects my quarter-Irish temper. Plus it brings out the green in my eyes.)
