"Who’s the real whore here?"

Steve H. is talking about me. In a good way.

MORE: There's a Wikipedia entry for Pajamas Media, now, and not only am I discussed under the heading "Feuds and Flamewars," but the expression "Berkeley house whore" appears.

AND: "Will they succeed? Who cares." Dan from Madison weighs in.

Another data point here: would Steve's comments be acceptable under the new policy?

So you're getting yourself a motorcycle? Cool!

Jerry Troutman કહ્યું...

Do you realize that with your linkage to PJM critics, you are rapidly becoming the Instapundit of the Unwashed?

Never been there and not planning to. It seems the whole thing goes against the whole thing (or something like that)

I'll let Ann fight the fight but I have no reason to doubt her POV.

Boom-boom in the house? Who knew?

Ann Althouse કહ્યું...

Jakeman: That was off topic. Also, I'm not appreciating sentences written in all caps. If you have a grievance with Steve, take it up with him elsewhere.

Ann Althouse કહ્યું...

Jakeman: He can answer for himself, but I imagine he sees the comments as part of his humor material, sort of a joint writing project. The post itself contains untruths, like the stuff about crayons. I think what is intended as humor is pretty clear, even if it might hurt your feelings. He's "tampering" with his own website, screwing around with it in a way that amuses him. Don't comment there if you don't like it.

Ann,

I am feminist sebsitive enough to understand that "berserkly House Whore" is a loaded phrase on several levels. But as a UC undergrad and postgrad, I can say that you are not one, etc. :) Anyway, beyond that, I'm surprised that you have that much ego invested in comments that are clearly out of line. Shake it off and move on. You can't control what people say on the net. All you can do is prove them wrong.

keep up the good work and thanks (sort of) for the support on the morale topic. :)

Hmmm. Matthew 7:3 might seem to apply.

In any case, I'm still curious whether calling people "whores" would be permitted under your new comments policy.

Calling someone a whore here? BFD. I've been called worse here in the last 24 hours, including a bald-faced statement that I'm a serial killer. (Acquitted!) But I will take this opportunity to deny being a puppy blender. That's some other guy.

Yeah, Ann, I always had you pegged as an Instatoad too.

In fact, I think that's your new TTLB category.

Pajamistan

*LOL*

Cheers,
Victoria

Ann Althouse કહ્યું...

"Instatoad." You should be ashamed of yourself for your envy. I never did one thing to play up to GR. And I've never even met then man, btw.

From Steven H to Steven Avery. Or are you still not talking about him? Anyway, since these comments are almost entirely childish, I thought I'd inject some substance:

Interested readers might want to know that Steven Avery is now claiming that Teresa Halbach, the woman who turned up dead and burned on his property, "could still be out there." He is, in other words, adding insult to the ultimate injury.

Who will comdemn this cruelty?

I know: the "innocence" types can't possibly draw any conclusions or make any judgments. They need a court to do that for them.

Funny how it never works that way for alleged police misconduct.

This might be a bit off topic for this thread, but I just this second realized that Pajamas media is a group blog that connects revenue by linking to other blogs...

But Glenn Reynolds already does that, and I don't think PM can do it better. So wtf were they thinking? Unless they make Glenn Reynolds or Dean Esmay their editor...

What am I missing?

Ann Althouse કહ્યું...

Harkenodog: I think what you're missing is that the individual blog (and possible a very small group blog) has a life and personality and energy to it that no mass aggregation can ever have. Instapundit by itself is much better than Pajamas Media can be. Taking Glenn our of his perfect natural environment and making him some company man is a horrible idea.

Indie blogging forever. Blog free or die.

For another take on all this I recommend Photodude's essay Blogging for all the wrong reasons.

That's pretty radical.

I love how Wikipedia links to the most banal terms within an article. Reading the PJM entry, I noticed that Luke Ford was described as a "seminal blogger." Thinking that he might have some sort of connection with the body fluid controversy, I clicked to his Wikipedia entry. There I found this delightful disclaimer.

This pornography-related article is a stub.

Well, just as long as his pornography-related member is not a stub.

Jonathan: I can't ban people or edit comments in Blogger. I can only delete (or switch to monitor). Some folks condemn themselves with their own words.

Please use the comments forum to respond to the post. Don't fight with each other. Be substantive... or interesting... or funny. Comments should go up immediately... unless you're commenting on a post older than 2 days. Then you have to wait for us to moderate you through. It's also possible to get shunted into spam by the machine. We try to keep an eye on that and release the miscaught good stuff. We do delete some comments, but not for viewpoint... for bad faith.
