Afraid to go out in your own $10 million yard?

Well, what do you expect? You moved into the ecotone.

Ann, this is happening all over California, including my decades old, tiny bungalow neighborhood near the place mentioned in Beast in the Garden. I saw a coyote across the street 3 months ago (my cat hid under the house all night), and last week one attacked a kid at a playground near the beach.

PC Officials give us a version of the "we deserved it" meme because we're taking away "their" habitat, yet population growth is exploding and uncontrolled with their blessings. Not a good situation and another reason I'm thinking of cashing out and leaving.

Why think, patca? I'm leaving Menlo Park for Austin, and even though the housing prices there are elevated, it's still a tremendous shift downward. And the last time I checked, I won't be seeing any mountain lions. :-)

I just got back from the Midwest, where I grew up, and would love to move...My only reason to stay: people. I love my extended family and my friends. I feel like I'm being forced out by circumstances and am just stubborn enough to ride it out one more year.

Best of luck in Austin. I hear it's a great town.

PatCA---that's the best reason in the world to stay. Fortunately that's what I'm moving to; but were I in your position I would stay as well, mountain lions be damned!
