The meeting between Pope Leo and Dylan—who wore a black hooded sweatshirt—was brief, consisting of greetings and a few lighthearted exchanges."

"The Holy Father presented the singer with a rosary, while Dylan reciprocated with a book: Chronicles: Volume One, his autobiography, which has been published in the United States and other countries around the world."

Vatican News reports.

Is the Pope mentioned in "Chronicles: Volume One"? Yes
Ray was not a guy who had nothing on his mind. He knew what he thought and he knew how to express it, didn’t make room in his life for mistakes. The mundane things in life didn’t register with him. He seemed to have some golden grip on reality, didn’t sweat the small stuff, quoted the Psalms and slept with a pistol near his bed. At times he could say things that had way too much edge. Once he said that President Kennedy wouldn’t last out his term because he was a Catholic. When he said it, it made me think about my grandmother, who said to me that the Pope is the king of the Jews. She lived back in Duluth on the top floor of a duplex on 5th Street. From a window in the back room you could see Lake Superior, ominous and foreboding, iron bulk freighters and barges off in the distance, the sound of foghorns to the right and left. My grandmother had only one leg and had been a seamstress. Sometimes on weekends my parents would drive down from the Iron Range to Duluth and drop me off at her place for a couple of days. She was a dark lady, smoked a pipe.
Anybody else talk about the Pope as the king of the Jews or was it just Bob's grandma who did that?

Very Benedictine of him.

Wish he had asked the Pope if it mightn't be a good idea to defend Christendom.

Bob never checked whether it was okay not to wear a suit.

I said for the Pope of Eruke
I was employed
They let me go right away
They were very paranoid

They shook hands? I thought you were supposed to kiss his ring or something.

Bob still wearing the Grim Reaper outfit from Halloween.

Probably a weekly rental so he's making the most of it.

Yeah, I’m not so sure about the hoodie.

It seems to me that you can be yourself and yet still dress for an occasion. I guess I’m just old-fangled that way. Aw, whatever, in the scheme of things.

He looks damn good for 84 or whatever. As for the sweatshirt - just be happy he didn't wear sun-glasses.

My father and two brothers met the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew the leader of the Eastern Orthodox Church, the one true Church. He's like the Pope for Orthodox Christians, except he's much, much smarter. The meeting was pretty cool. Imagine talking to someone who casually says I have a meeting with Putin in a few hours. Anyways, he was a great guy. There were also Serbian monks waiting and these guys were literally trembling with excitement. The Archbishop was a superstar.

Yeah, well.

When I was a senior working at the MSU library, my assistant for a time was Minas Mutafian. He was a nice young man and later became a patriarch of the Armenian Church. Died in 2019. (I'm very good at remembering names, especially when I don't have to.)

Trump, go visit the Pope! Make friends with the Pope. Ask if you can have an audience with the Pope. Be polite, damn it. Be secretive! People will wonder, "What the fuck are Trump and the Pope talking about?" It will drive the Democrats bat shit crazy.

When is the Pope going to host the Brewers at the Vatican?

Americans need to take advantage of having an American Pope while it lasts. Might be another 2,000 years

What’s the pope’s favorite Dylan album? Given his age I’m going with Blood on the Tracks

That bookcase is worth, like, a million dollars.

…did the pope kiss his ring?

At least he wore a tie.

And the hoodie features spiffy Western detailing.

…I like the way he dresses. Paddy O has it- there’s a monkish pope audience vibe while maintaining his poet Nobel street cred…

…I dunno bat looks like Vatican maintenance refinished it a century or two ago…remember that Antiques Roadshow where that guy was so proud of refinishing his cabinet because it was that hideous orange color and one of the gay blonde brothers told him it was the original shellac and it would have been worth seven figures? Simultaneously catastrophic and schadenfreudelicious…

Monkish? Bob looks like a Sith Lord.

Who is Pope Leo?

The book case shown behind the two men. When was any one of those books ever taken out and read?

Bob Dylan makes Senator John Fetterman look like a Brooks Brothers mannequin, by comparison. Black jacket over black hoodie over rumpled shirt and who knows what happened to that tie/scarf/whatever? Pope Leo looks properly amused!

PS - Dylan's gift to the pope, of his own autobiography, reminds me of something from years ago, when Light-Bringer Obama gave some Brit royal (maybe the queen?) a recording of his speeches. Thanks, Obama!

Pope Leo also voted in yesterday's Illinois election, via absentee ballot, per Chicago Tribune, relying on his brother's home address as his Illinois address. Illegal, yes. FBI, time to investigate illegal voting by the life-appointed ruler of Vatican City.

Who wore it better? Dylan or Emperor Palpatine?

No doubt, both of them trying to come with a way to keep the Bear's stadium in Chicago.

They're gonna need big help.

“relying on his brother's home address as his Illinois address. Illegal, yes”

Illinois allows its citizens living abroad to vote absentee using an Illinois address with which they have no current ties. If they allow that, what could possibly be wrong with using a brother’s address?

FYI No Jewish bubbi (grandmother) in their right mind ever claimed the Pope was the king of the Jews.

There may not be many more comments here: The Benedictine order is typically tied to a house, a monastery. The primary work of the Benedictines is writing.
