Shot today. I won a 20 pound turkey. It's thawing now because the freezer is full of frozen chicken and quart containers of potato soup. Did I shoot well? No, but because it was raining half the really good shots didn't show up.

I am in South Florida right now, and damn we are having some weather. It's not a hurricane, but my goodness the wind and the rain and the lightning. The storm stretches from Tallahassee to Miami. Which makes me wonder if it was weather that took that jet down.

Uh, yes. Absolutely. Apparently US law allows foreign heads of state and other foreign elected officials to vote in the United States as long as they haven't renounced their US citizenship. WTF?

There is more to 'Bambi Gambino' (the proper nouns), than the rich imagery of "Get Shorty" (1995). Something paradoxical that is apparently deeper in our common psyche, than mere alliteration. Take it from me, I'm no expert.

I'm waiting for the NTSB to weigh in on the Florida crash, but I will note that two Lear jets ave crashed mysteriously, in January 2025 and again in January 2026. The first was a medevac flight that took off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, and the second was a charter flight in India.

Oh Dear. Looks like the Germans are moving on Poland again.
So I had a dream, where this Jewish kid was telling a story, about how these Catholic brothers used to torture him at school all the time. Yank his underwear over his head. They were horrible to him. "We're going to kill you, Kikie Kike." Stuff like that.
And it was a decade later, and the kids are working at a camp as lifeguards or counselors or whatever. And they have a whole case of leftover beer, and they are storing it in an old fridge in a bag of ice. And they are like, "Watch out for snakes, Kike, you dumb fucking Jew."
"He's never been in the woods before."
"Can you believe this fucker?"
And one of the bullies says, "Relax, we got the fucking anti-venom shot, you pussy." And he shows him the anti-ventom shot. "Don't pee your pants and have a beer, all right?"
And the Jewish kid is like, "I don't wanna."
And they force him to drink the beer. And another beer. And he's like, these Nazis are torturing me.

And then another snake shows up. And the kids are like, "Holy fuck! It's another snake!" And the snake is making a move for the Jewish kid. "Stop the fucking snake!" And they are all trying to stay between the crying Jewish kid and the snake. And the snake is slithering around. "Fuck! Fuck! The snake is going to bite him!" And the snake is about to bite the Jewish kid. And one of the Nazi Catholic boys shoves his arm in and takes the bite himself.
Years later, the Jewish kid has grown up. Studied hard, top of his class, went to Yale, tried to get to the Supreme Court. And the Senators are like, "We already got two Jews. We don't need three Jews." And so they vote him down. And he is crushed. All his life. He studied so hard. He was trying to make something of his life. Impress people.
But what was crushing him, was this memory of this Nazi Catholic bully son of a bitch who took the bite for him and died. He avoided the family, avoided the funeral, moved away from the whole city. It was this horrible nightmare in his life. "Why did he do that?" And "he should have let me die. I'm worthless."
And then there's a scene where the Who are screaming at him. "You are forgiven!"
And the end of the movie, the Jewish kid is going to the Catholic Nazi bully house, to confront the bullies and their parents and apologize for what happen. He's terrified, but he does it. He rings the door bell. And somebody answers the door.
And they're all so happy to see him. "Ma! The Katz kid! He's here!"
"What?"
"The Katz kid! He's here!"
"Cats?"
"Justice Kike, ma! Justice Kike is here!"
"Justice Kike!"
And they're all so happy. And ma is trying to make it on her walker. "Bobby saved your life!"
"You ought to be on the Supreme Fucking Court! Why aren't you on the Supreme Fucking Court? Justice Kike is here, Ma. Bobby saved his fucking life!"
"I heard you, Frankie! Shut up. Pick up your fucking underwear. Get a fucking job."

Convective weather likely played a significant role. Possible loss of control surfaces or structural failure following an upset. Thunderstorm tops, icing, severe turbulence and an accelerating overspeed dive. The horizontal stabilizer appears to be missing in impact footage, although whether it separated in flight or on impact remains unknown. A catastrophic loss-of-control event, potentially followed by structural breakup.
One thing I'd be particularly interested in seeing from the NTSB is the recorded airspeed and vertical acceleration during the final 15–20 seconds. Those could tell us a great deal about whether the aircraft was still accelerating into impact or had already begun experiencing structural breakup.

For those who missed the reason for this comment- it seems the Polish Police surrounding the Constitutional Court were Germans... Apparently some sort of EU Security force... And there is other talk I've seen that all German gas that comes from Russia goes through Polish pipelines because the underwater ones were destroyed- by as yet unknown perrons with lots of rumors as to who... I still haven't seen any proof that is wasn't a fuel hammer, like a water hammer in steam pipes. The pics made available to date shows bulging out, not bulging in, with pipe separation along seams.

I read the essay and it was excellent but I disagree with her conclusion:
Lionel Shriver:
“I believe that what progressives want most of all is to fail. They are most comfortable being against things. They are most comfortable campaigning for purposes that will never come to fruition.”
That may be true of some progressives. But it isn’t true of most progressives, or of the people steering them. They want to win, and they often do; Shriver herself points to Cuba, Venezuela and the blue states Americans are leaving. Progressives don’t need to stay out of power to escape blame. They will never think they are responsible for any misery their positions caused. They will always find excuses.
𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘭 𝘚𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭.
It's a polemic, not a balanced examination of progressivism. It has some interesting observations about political tribalism, performative virtue, and ideological hypocrisy, but its sweeping conclusion that progressives fundamentally want society to fail is more rhetorical provocation than demonstrated argument.
And importantly, the same psychological critique could be applied to elements of the MAGA movement: political identity built around grievance, permanent enemies, perceived victimhood, and the inability to accept a political outcome that doesn't validate its worldview.
The larger problem: She spends considerably more time psychoanalyzing the supposed motivations of her political opponents than examining the merits of their actual arguments or policies.
In that respect, the essay sometimes becomes an example of the very phenomenon it criticizes: a political argument sustained by moral certainty, caricature, and contempt for the opposition.

That was the point of the essay. She set out to explain how progressives think, not to grade their policies. She says so up front. Faulting her for psychoanalyzing is faulting her for not writing a different essay. And she does get to policy: Medicare reimbursement rates, the math on taxing the rich, the DSA plan to abolish the Senate.
The MAGA comparison doesn’t make sense either, because she beat you to it. She grants that progressives can deliver “an even more lacerating and entirely convincing takedown of the Trumpist Right.” She even admits most of us need an enemy: “witness this lecture.”
I just don’t agree with her conclusion. I don’t think that progressives want to fail. But the problem isn’t that she psychoanalyzed them. It’s that she got the psychology wrong. They want to win, and when they do, they never accept blame for the results.
One more thing:
Shriver also writes that her baby-boomer generation is “abundantly responsible” for where the Democratic Party, the universities and the rest have ended up.
Those boomers were raised by the WWII generation, and that upbringing is often held up as the model for raising a family. Yet something went wrong. Maybe that wasn’t the ideal way to raise kids after all.
When I say she got the psychology wrong I only meant her conclusion otherwise ot was a very insightful essay. And I really can’t fault her for wanting to end on an optimistic note.

I was reading it and thinking about all those Jewish kids attending that music festival on October 7, love beads and peace and harmony, and how happy that dream was, and then October 7 happened.
And we're supposed to be on the side of the people who want to fuck up love, peace, harmony, and music.
