"You just have a sense of... brotherhood."

Said Robert Gasser, a Brewers pitcher:

Texting that to Meade, I wrote "'brotherhood'/crystal blue persuasion/'There'll be peace and good — brotherhood.'"

He sent me this video of the song, and I said "I blogged that video in 2015." It was here: "The new Hillary catchphrase: 'Love trumps hate.'"

And I blogged about the song in 2006, describing what I'd just put in a podcast ("Audible Althouse #64," no longer on line):
I talk about reality and unreality, song lyrics that might be about drugs or religion (like "Crystal Blue Persuasion"), the life of the mind and conspiracy theorizing, how the 1960s transformed America and me, how my parents savored the adult life (it had something to do with Playboy), why the students today don't do anti-war demonstrations, how Alan Turing and Kurt Gödel killed themselves, the way you might know but not know that the food is tainted, and whether you'd rather hear a writer tell you what he's really like or have him cook up his loathsome characteristics into a tasty piece of fiction.

I texted Meade, "i’d like to hear that. must have it on one of the old laptops."

While I was firing up old laptops looking for the lost podcast #64 — and finding it — Meade was making this:

Look over yonder/What do you see?/The sun is a-rising/Most definitely...

Is it the last song charting on the Billboard Top 100 containing the word "yonder"?
AI says no.

I hope all the attention isn't going to their heads.
They're not done yet.

Points for not pitching the word "fraternity".

“Crystal Blue Persuasion” is a beautiful song that brings back many memories of friends and the fun we had for me.

The mention of “Breaking Bad” also brings to mind the recent passing of R.J. Mitte, who played Walter and Skylar White’s son, Flynn. RIP

I am still holding out hope for a "Mistake on the Lake" vs "The City that a Beer Made Famous" WS.

The Indians vs. Brewers would've been a massacre. But the brewers vs. the guardians. Who knows?

That’s a good example of a pop song.

Despite the NIL circus, yesterday was the best day in the history of college football.

Sorry most of y'all missed it.

This is on topic because it involves both sports and religion.

I hope they don't lose their mojo waiting for the ALCS to finish. It could go 7 games.

Does Hillary love Donald Trump?

Don't bother to check; it's no. The Hildabeest hates Trump with a searing white-hot animus ever since he defeated in 2016. I'm just pointing to her GOAT hypocrisy.

RCOCEAN II म्हणाले...

"Maybe tomorrow when He looks down
Every green field and every town
All of his children every nation
There'll be peace and good brotherhood
Crystal blue persuasion"

That certainly is a good dream. Like the White sox winning the world series.

I think the Brewers should pay the Dodgers to play an exhibition game with them. To keep sharp.

planetgeo म्हणाले...

Speaking of the Dodgers, keep in mind that they are probably scraping together their pocket change right now so they can simply buy the Brewers. I mean, IF the Brewers actually win the Series. Otherwise, forget it.

Brilliant idea but wrong team. Right now, the Dodgers couldn’t even sharpen the Colorado Rockies. Hire the Padres. While they’re still smoldering.
