I think they mean to look virtuous and wholesome, but wielding needles on the street seems sleazy. It's something an addicted recreational drug user would do. And I instinctively covered my eyes, as I think many people do when they see an injection.
Explanation by a speaker reading from a script: "We're taking our HRT here at the doors of the people who have given up to demystify, normalize, and celebrate our trans bodies in the face of NYU's cowardice." But medical treatments are normally taken indoors, in privacy. How can you "normalize" these treatments by performing a way that is not normal? It's
normal for
illicit drugs. And the administration of a medical treatment is not a "celebration" of the body. It's premised on the understanding that there is something
wrong with the body.

I don't believe you're actually changing your sex. So that's my bias.
But the really damning thing that is absolutely hurting this movement is their obsession with children, which verges on a true sickness and criminal conduct. We saw this in Drag Queen story hour, where they are reading books to small children while in drag.
Why not read in the senior citizen home? Why is children your focus?

No kids. Not even oneself if oneself is a kid. You have failed to identify the real problem, thinking it's a problem in diagnosing this disorder in childhood.
The proponents of early sex change, the shrinks and other medical professionals (mostly female), the teachers (mostly female), the liberal mothers (all female), are literally 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 this diagnosis and the sufferers from it.

To the uninformed, a glance at this performance could illicit the spooky Covid excesses. Not exactly what the other side wants nor need right now. .
They are wearing poorly fitted masks in public, which suggests a concern in becoming sick, either because they are germophobic or know themselves to be immunocompromised. Then they are holding up the needles in front of everyone's faces, while measuring out the appropriate dosage. Next, they inject that needle into their body without sterilizing the injection site.
Jackass was a show of people performing stunts too, and many of the stunts went viral, but the title of the show suggested the participants were self-aware. That's more than I can say for these protesters.

The novelty of "gender affirming care" doesn't lend itself to gut level recognition/identification. Isn't that fundamentally necessary, when sympathy is on the line?

It's the Demonstration that you find incoherent??? It's the entire trans premise that is incoherent. One cannot modify reality through emotion. Ever. Period. A man cannot become a woman by feeling like a woman.

I didn't mistake the problem; the problem is that trans is definitionally a mental disorder with *nothing* to do with the actual, physical body. For some tiny percentage of gender dysphoria sufferers, the only relief they find may be in the pretense of being another sex - but I cannot support letting them do anything to themselves until mature adulthood. We allow people like Michael Jackson to make awful alterations to themselves in (their) hopes that they will find relief - if we're going to allow it at all, I didn't see why we would except this particular disorder.
Lots of demonstrations are incoherent. Their raison d'etre is a Media Event. The Media doesn't need coherence. They need Victims and a presumptively guilty Oppressor. We are now in an advanced stage of oppression fatigue.

Demonstrations held indoors, in privacy, are seldom effective.
They can change or rather simulate gender (i.e. sex-correlated attributes). They can't change their sex, ever, period. Women are the exclusive child-bearers of humanity. Men are their complement in Nature.
