All this is a waste of time. For some reason, despite years of failures, Trump and his yes men think Putin will end his war in Ukraine with no territorial gains in exchange for some business deals. Business has never been important to Putin. If it had been, he would've never started this war which has devastated Russian businesses and its economy.
For Putin, these business talks are about trying to normalize relations with the US and using the relationship to end US support for Ukraine, allowing Russia to divide and conquer.
Beyond that central misconception, the Trump administration really doesn't have the power to make some of these deals either- and with two years to go time is running out for them to do any of them.
Unfortunately this relationship is quite unremarkable. The family business has been helping businessmen with ties to the Kremlin evade sanctions and move money out of Russia into Western property holdings. It seems this family business is being picked up by the next generation.
No team has ever come back from a 3–0 deficit in the World Series. Only one team in MLB history has overcome a 3–0 series deficit, the 2004 Boston Red Sox, who rallied to beat the New York Yankees 4–3 in the American League Championship Series.

" DataRepublican @DataRepublican · Oct 26 Governor Newsom on 17 October: "The whole - the system's broken. It's completely unbalanced. And you can't - we can't manage the decline. We have to completely reimagine."
Then within the files, I see very similar language: "The system is broken — and it cannot fix itself."
Does that mean the specific ex-USAID workers we've been tracking are controlling Newsom? No. But as you've seen throughout these files, every individual in the ecosystem belongs to multiple NGOs and alliances. They network constantly. They attend each other's conferences. They form coalitions on similar projects. They give each other feedback. That's how they develop a hive mind.
The proposed methods may differ from group to group, but they are all converging on one goal: America governance must be rewritten from top down, and soon."
Amid soaring prices and mounting corruption, it’s getting harder to find MAGA diehards at the Cheesecake Factories in Trump country. But after an exhaustive search, we found some. Here are their stories, their grievances, and what Trump must do to win them back.

I'm surprised no one here has mentioned the huge Twitter blow-up a few days ago between Turks and Chinese. A lot of Turks like to claim half of Asia as 'Turkic', and Chinese Twitterers have been cruelly and hilariously mocking them. Here (link) is a popular picture: the star and crescent on the Turkish flag turned sideways (crescent on top) and repainted to depict the starfish from Spongebob hanging from a crescent-shaped parachute. That's one of the tamer ones. Others depict the crescent and star as the butt end of a sheep Turks are drooling over. They've also cruelly pointed out that modern Turks are genetically only 10-15% central Asian, and are actually mostly Greek and Armenian. The Turks are insulting the Chinese right back, but clearly losing.
Wall Street Apes @WallStreetApes "The hypocrisy is insane Foreign billionaire George Soros has spent over $500+ MILLION on Democrat campaigns in the last 8 years, and he’s already spent over $103 million on Midterms
But Democrats are outraged over Elon Musk?? George Soros also spent roughly $128 million in 2022"
ai : The Tampa Bay Rays are massive long shots to win the World Series. Staring down a 3-0 series deficit against the Milwaukee Brewers, their consensus championship odds sit at +1500 (or 15-to-1). A $10 bet at these odds would yield $150 in profit, returning a total of $160 to you if they manage a historic comeback.
Spenser Pratt. More of the "It's all broken" leftist mob hive language + Blue State Hell - they openly admit their own epic failure, but refuse to own it.
King Augeas of Elis owned more cattle than any man alive, three thousand head, and in thirty years nobody had cleaned the stables. The filth was the king’s own, and it had piled up under his roof for as long as he’d ruled.
Heracles was sent to clear it in a day. He didn’t use a shovel. He broke the walls at both ends, turned two rivers through the yard, and the water took thirty years of dung out to sea before sunset.
Then Augeas refused to pay. He said the job had been ordered by someone else, so he owed nothing, and when his own son Phyleus testified that the deal had been made, he banished the son along with the hero. Years later Heracles came back with an army, killed the king, and put the son on the throne.
“Drain the swamp” was the labor. Here’s the stable.
• The filth is the king’s own: up to $4bn to the family in office, a Versailles ballroom paid by donors, pardons for a Binance founder who laundered Iran’s money and a Honduran president jailed for cocaine.
• The neighbor’s cattle: over $13bn of Venezuelan oil money this year, “controlled by me”, $3bn returned, one ledger entry, no reports, while the country takes a $37bn earthquake. The first sale went to a trader who gave $6m to the campaign. The son‑in‑law’s fund holds $2bn from Riyadh.
• The king won’t pay: asked about his grift, “look at the real corruption, it’s Democrat corruption.” Augeas’s exact defense.
• The river: 88% of voters say corruption is their top worry, half of Republicans included. It’s run through two stables this year, Orbán and Vučić.
I ask whether voters will connect the strongman to the grift. The Greeks didn’t need to be told. The man who owns the cattle never drains the stable. He sells tickets to it, and calls the river a hoax until it reaches the door.
The global corrupt left cheat - and we all know it
"While the left were toasting victory on Monday morning, investors were furiously dumping Brazilian equities and, more importantly, debt. It was ugly, and shows little sign of calming down any time soon.
In reality, the sell-off made perfect sense. Investors had anticipated a Bolsonaro victory, and were expecting lower taxes, controls on spending and pro-business reforms once their man took power. They had positioned their books accordingly, confidently expecting a post-election rally. After all, on the night before the election, the prediction markets, which are increasingly taken as gospel on Wall Street, gave the right an 80 percent chance of victory. As that prospect of that disappeared, they reversed all those trades as quickly as possible."
@OG Mike — The story of King Augeas and the cleaning of his stables is part of Greek mythology, specifically the fifth of the Twelve Labors of Heracles (Hercules in Roman mythology). My account is broadly faithful to the traditional myth.
According to IEE's account of Augeas, someone's going to assassinate Trump, but Barron will succeed him. He should have thought over his supposed parallels before boring us with a potted summary of a myth everyone already knows. Plagiarism or AI? Who can tell? And who cares?
dr weevil — I think it compresses the whole political argument into one image: corruption turned into spectacle, denial deployed as strategy, and accountability treated as a threat rather than an obligation.
My one reservation is that Augeas ultimately loses his throne. In modern politics, accountability is never guaranteed. The stable can be exposed, the evidence can be overwhelming, and the king can still survive. The real test isn’t whether voters see the filth. It’s whether they finally decide they’ve had enough of living with it.
No one cares what IEE thinks, but we can't help noticing that he picks a myth in which the Trump character is murdered. Subconscious or conscious choice? Again, who cares: the fact he's a creep comes peeping out every time.
"The real test isn’t whether voters see the filth. It’s whether they finally decide they’ve had enough of living with it."
Voters saw more filth in Harris/Walz last time around. I can't believe half the country almost put those two in charge of managing the unmanageable decline.
Less exciting than the Brewers, but interesting. The Israeli election has been won by Netanyahu. The polls before, during and after the election showed him losing heavily. The opposition leaders began a victory party. Then came a sort of pause, and then: "But there is no joy in Mudville” for the mighty Left Has. Struck. Out.
Of course, they are still counting in Israel so there is time for a sudden new ballot drop: a finding of shoe boxes as they do so easily in Chicago; or a counting of the Alzheimer vote from the locked wards of nursing homes as we always did in Wisconsin; or a counting of recently discovered mail-in ballots as they do in California.
Speaking of fat A%$# men and women , this was shouted out in RED MISSISSIPPI at a rally "trump is heckled for a third time at his speech in Mississippi: "SHOVE THAT BALLROOM UP YOUR FAT ***!!" But at less Nikki Minaj go another moment in the sun when to the laughter and cheering of the MAGAS on what a great big ass she has and told to stand up and be gawked out. Now that's real respect for women and them MAGA women seem to eat it up. Ah yes dear children ,you mother may be reveered for her fat ass in these circus like events, how proud you may be... Melody is too old and played out for this fella and now he is on to mens' and womens asses, A beautiful presidential presentation. Back to doping the Breeders Cup these are not serious people as has been stated.
Looks as if trump cant even indict a ham sandwich and his puppet who was told to do this looks the fool as usual but he says well thats who I work for so I have to do what he tells me. Ah yes how the rule books are thrown out the window and the blatant orders must be followed . How much farther down, before this plight is sent to the bleachers.
must watch tv Ayaan Hirsi Ali speaks about the Muslim Brotherhood agenda It’s an excellent discussion. The relevant part for the US today starts at 1:03:38 There’s a time stamped transcript provided as well.
So what’s so bad about the DSA? The DSA wants big parts of the economy, like housing and utilities, run by planners instead of by what people buy and sell. Prices tell us what’s needed - planners have to guess. Call it democratic if you like; someone still writes the plan. When the plan misses, the planners have to make people follow it anyway. Over time the people who most want that power get it. That’s the inevitable pattern. Now you might say power-hungry people do the same thing under capitalism. The difference (and it’s an important one) is that under capitalism they try to influence the system from outside, through lobbying and campaign money. When the government runs the industry, they move inside the government itself, where they are much harder to remove, sometimes for generations. DSA candidates are running as Democrats, and they are pushing the party their way. Since non-DSA Democrats seem frozen in place, help them by voting Republican this time, so the party learns that lurching left loses.
Spencer Pratt @spencerpratt · 20h I hate to be this cynical, but I’ll be honest…running for Mayor exposes you to things that make you believe the city is actually being overtaken by demonic energy. Drive south Fig at night. Go to 6th and San Pedro. You see children openly prostituting, drug zombies setting dogs and cats on fire, babies born to crackheads and tossed in a dumpster, dead people just lying in the streets…that’s not even to mention the dozen neighbors of ours who burned alive in what is now a crumbled hellscape.
Many times I wondered if the city’s problems weren’t beyond the reach of any politician’s capacity to actually fix. There is a cultural and spiritual rot that can’t be fixed at the ballot box. Until we fix the culture, we are kinda just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic and the shit we shovel around every 4 years doesn’t really mean a thing.
I won my second bet of the World Series last night. Hmmm. I think TB again for Game 5 but the Brewers end it in six. I just bet $20 and it pays $46.60. I'll wait to place Game 6 bet until Game 5 comes in -- If the Brewers close it out in five, that money would go down the drain.
“. . . the shit we shovel around every 4 years doesn’t really mean a thing.” We have midterms coming up and they’re important so I kind of don’t appreciate the despair about voting because voting Republican in the midterms is important. We can handle 2 things at the same time - voting and encouraging and supporting a healthy culture.
Think about the level of fraud (read: billions) intrepid reporter Nick Shirley discovered. What if the MSM sent a battalion of reporters to identify additional fraud. The U.S. could balance the budget.
Obama broke the U.S. healthcare system with his Obamacare bait and switch. Now the same gang who destroyed the healthcare system want to fix with Medicare for all.
…the government had said if we eliminated the entitlement payments going to people who aren’t eligible to receive them they could balance the budget. Fraud everywhere else in the system creates a surplus…
The central planning of the water and power development during the thirties fueled the industrial explosion of the '40s that defeated the axis powers. Then the pist-war prosperity was leveraged by the central planning of the interstate highway system.
... absolute statements always have huge exceptions 🤪
I think Pratt’s point is the same as Breitbart’s, “Politics is downstream of culture.” If you don’t fix the culture, then you won’t fix the politics. California is the best example of this. Republicans have no hope of winning, and now Newsom wants it to go full DSA. The cultural argument is that the problems of capitalism caused California’s problems. Yet, cross the Sierra Nevada’s and capitalism seems just fine.
Right. A mix of central planning and free market wild West is the ticket. Unfortunately, we have been overrun by crony capitalism and a Fiat money system.
“If you don’t fix the culture, then you won’t fix the politics.” Vote anyway. Some of this is an exercise in self soothing because conservatives think they’re going to lose the midterms. Vote anyway. The culture is important. So are the midterms.
[start virtual italics]Portends what will happen with a DSA victory next week. Smrt money isn't going to fall into the hands of Communists.[end virtual italics].
I dunno, Chickelit. I generally over the years have kept a watch on midterms in terms of the stock market. I'm not so sure that whatever the outcome, the elections this year will make that much of a difference. There are just so many other factors at play! And I think those will matter more in the mid- to long-term, this time.
I've been like white on rice in terms of my own retirement investment portfolio and my change in circumstances. I'm actually less concerned than I was about the election outcomes specifically within the narrow frame of the stock market.
I'm not saying there won't be some reaction. I just don't think it'll be something that's going to be "sticky" at this time. I think other factors are more important, this time around. For just a couple of examples, I think investors are more concerned with getting their minds wrapped around the whole AI sector, and I think they're also getting their minds wrapped around the proposed merger of Tesla and SpaceX (especially if they own a healthy chunk of Tesla stock, as I do and have since about 6 months after its initial IPO). Etc.
In short, there are a lot of factors, other than the midterms this year, affecting the stock market. I personally am focusing less on the elections and their impact on the stock market, in terms of "sticky," than in other elections. Of course, I can and may well be wrong. We'll see.
…this debate was solved in the late 19th and 20th centuries. Why go through all that yet again? Because kids with ‘political advocate’ on their cv can’t afford a 2br apartment in the village? Counterproductive…
…there is no price discovery, overhead chokes productivity, there’s mandatory participation with little choice…and as per usual incentives are in the wrong place…
In other words, the problem with the healthcare system is the capitalistic bureaucracy formed by the the money changers at the insurance companies. Couple that with the overly restrictive and horribly expensive FDA approval process, it's no wonder that an aspirin costs $25 in the hospital.
…we force complicated lessons in economics and medicine and probability on every senior citizen. Some of them become experts, often found in surprising places…
We can piss and moan about how bad the healthcare system is. But the bottom line is we human beings with agency must properly maintain fuel and fix our bodies using common sense and the tools readily available at hand. We live in a golden age of optimizing personal health and well-being. You just have to avoid all of the other negative political hateful destructive algorithm enhanced bullcrap on the internet and read the good stuff that contain the nuggets of wisdom needed to pursue happiness in a completely unregulated and freewheeling manner.
"It sucks because there are too many third parties in the marketplace."
Indeed. The more parties involved, the more each of them wants their slice of the pie. When there isn't enough pie left, you have to make a bigger pie, which is inflation.
We used to have a local radio host that would say "I want single payer healthcare" which he would explain "I singularly pay my doctor directly for my healthcare." It used to work that way. I've done it a few times when I wanted care that insurance wouldn't cover, and often I ended up paying less, because the doctor had less paperwork to provide that care.
“In other words, the problem with the healthcare system is the capitalistic bureaucracy formed by the the money changers at the insurance companies.”
“Capitalistic” is the wrong label. A system with hidden prices, third parties paying the bills, government-set Medicare rates, and heavy regulation isn’t a free market.
Another day, another report of human services fraud in California.
“ A nonprofit daycare that claims to have “over 40 locations” across California and received an $18.2 million award “for more [than] 1,048 children in at-risk" communities actually has just one facility providing care for no more than six children, an investigation by The Center Square found.”
"The central planning of the water and power development during the thirties fueled the industrial explosion of the '40s that defeated the axis powers. Then the pist-war prosperity was leveraged by the central planning of the interstate highway system."
Government building infrastructure like highways is not the same thing as government taking over private industries like health care and housing that it previously screwed up with regulations and partial takeovers.
"If Trump were a bit less selfish, self-absorbed, and erratic, things might be different right now. If Trump had the wisdom and discipline to back reliable conservatives like John Cornyn"
This is not good, this is shit. "Reliable conservatives like John Cornyn" she says about the GOP establishment rat who is stumping now for Democrat Party members and anti-MAGA. Typical Trump deranged GOP supporter perfectly happy with the Cornyns, Thunes, Romneys, Collins's, and Murkowskis polluting the Republican Party, shafting its voters, and working hand-in-glove with the anti-American despicable Democrat Party to stay in power for decades fleecing USA taxpayers.

Long article, but here's the gist: "A "stunning blow": a gushing headline in the New York Times is meant to show (and reassure) leftists of all nations that, in America as well as abroad, the left is far from defeated: Brazil hands a stunning rebuke to the right. "
...
"While the original national edition (see at bottom of this post) is slightly less dramatic (Lula's Victory Curtails Right In the Region; incidentally, by the way, I never heard that a word like "in" took a capital letter in a headline), the online title is, as we went to press, Lula Wins Brazil’s Presidency, in Stunning Blow to Latin America’s Right."
"...The Flávio Bolsonaro reaction is now in the second paragraph, with Donald Trump's statement is in the third. The report has been heavily upgraded and is now far more — what is the word? — nuanced. As it appears now, it is scarcely recognizable from the story as it appeared in the newspaper Tuesday morning."
Lots more in the article, but I'll add this from X: "In Araruama, Flavio won the first round with more than double the votes of Lula.
Araruama in the second round: Flávio won 11 votes Lula won 5,581 votes.
This means that, in a city where Flavio Bolsonaro won with MORE THAN DOUBLE the votes of Lula in the first round, the current president had 507x more votes than Flavio in the second.
The same pattern repeats in the neighboring cities, which are also very bolsonaristas.
The mathematical aberration of this is astounding."
It's a lot of things, Howard, but "capitalistic" isn't one of them. Capitalism assumes a knowledgeable buyer and seller. The current system has neither. Third and fourth partys', including governments , have had the thumbs on the scale from the beginning.
“This is not good, this is shit. "Reliable conservatives like John Cornyn" she says about the GOP establishment rat who is stumping now for Democrat Party members and anti-MAGA.”

Governor Newsom on 17 October: "The whole - the system's broken.

The retard is getting paid by the word. :)
Nobody is going to listen to democrats complain about gas prices when everyone knows they are the reason they are high.
Rents are down across the country. So are food prices.
Millions of American citizens are being hired to replace illegals that were moved out.
That is because we are not giving Illegals money and kicking the democrats cheap labor and illegal voters out of the country.

Democrats are cheating in NY.
Read the whole thing. This is how the corrupt left operate.

ai : The Tampa Bay Rays are massive long shots to win the World Series. Staring down a 3-0 series deficit against the Milwaukee Brewers, their consensus championship odds sit at +1500 (or 15-to-1).
A $10 bet at these odds would yield $150 in profit, returning a total of $160 to you if they manage a historic comeback.

On Monday the Bovespa – Brazil’s main stock market index – fell by over 15 percent. The Brazilian real lost as much as a tenth of its value, its worst trading day since 1999. Meanwhile, the ten-year local bond yield jumped from 13 percent to more than 15 percent in a single session. Amid the rout, the country canceled two debt auctions.
"The story of King Augeas and the cleaning of his stables is part of Greek mythology, "

@OG Mike— Makes for a fitting allegory for the Trump administration, don’t you think?
The real question isn’t whether the stable is filthy. It’s whether the public will finally hold the king accountable.
Will there be riots in Madison or Milwaukee if the Brewers win?
I hope not! That would wreck the achievement.
According to IEE's account of Augeas, someone's going to assassinate Trump, but Barron will succeed him. He should have thought over his supposed parallels before boring us with a potted summary of a myth everyone already knows. Plagiarism or AI? Who can tell? And who cares?
Fun fact: Businesses in America have NEVER had to board up their windows because of Republican protestors.

dr weevil — I think it compresses the whole political argument into one image: corruption turned into spectacle, denial deployed as strategy, and accountability treated as a threat rather than an obligation.

Trump dodged a bullet and we dodged two.
Plus everyone knows that Trump is a stable genius, not a Mr. Ed like AOC.
"The Israeli election has been won by Netanyahu."

The rosy-fingered dawn. May she give us another beautiful autumn day!

I hate to be this cynical, but I’ll be honest…running for Mayor exposes you to things that make you believe the city is actually being overtaken by demonic energy.
Until we fix the culture, we are kinda just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic and the shit we shovel around every 4 years doesn’t really mean a thing.
https://x.com/spencerpratt/status/2115054871959249079?a=ZXTLsTLtQdKT8uSG9fo&s=20
It is spiritual deception that has overcome the lefties in our beloved USA. How else to describe the lack of simple logic.
“. . . the shit we shovel around every 4 years doesn’t really mean a thing.”
We have midterms coming up and they’re important so I kind of don’t appreciate the despair about voting because voting Republican in the midterms is important. We can handle 2 things at the same time - voting and encouraging and supporting a healthy culture.
BTW, Pratt lost the election but the effort was valuable and the votes for him weren’t wasted.
Think about the level of fraud (read: billions) intrepid reporter Nick Shirley discovered. What if the MSM sent a battalion of reporters to identify additional fraud. The U.S. could balance the budget.
…central planning ALWAYS fails…
Obama broke the U.S. healthcare system with his Obamacare bait and switch. Now the same gang who destroyed the healthcare system want to fix with Medicare for all.
…the government had said if we eliminated the entitlement payments going to people who aren’t eligible to receive them they could balance the budget. Fraud everywhere else in the system creates a surplus…
…prediction markets are a measure of sentiment not probability. Professional investors recognize that distinction while reporters apparently don’t…
…healthcare wasn’t in a great place before Obamacare but the conclusion of the Obama administrations still holds- he made it worse…
The healthcare system sucks because we have too many sick people.
…we’re discussing a centrally planned economy Howard, not tasked agencies but your point is noted by me…
Uh, you just need to cross the coastal ranges to see the change in California politics.
Right. A mix of central planning and free market wild West is the ticket. Unfortunately, we have been overrun by crony capitalism and a Fiat money system.
“If you don’t fix the culture, then you won’t fix the politics.”
Vote anyway.
Some of this is an exercise in self soothing because conservatives think they’re going to lose the midterms.
Vote anyway.
The culture is important. So are the midterms.
Chickelit:
We'll see.
Howard said...
The healthcare system sucks because we have too many sick people.
It sucks because there are too many third parties in the marketplace.
…we tie access to the system with employment or to entitlements, coverage mostly at the state line…
No. It’s the government what made the rules- and all the rent seeking and perverse incentives that come with them. Its their mess…
Ok, Howard. What about cancer?
Even Joe Biden promised to cure cancer and he didn’t.
I went to a Hillsdale College event in Omaha last night. Impressive and encouraging.
But Creighton University remains the greatest enterprise in the world today.
This is really good.
"If Trump were a bit less selfish, self-absorbed, and erratic, things might be different right now. If Trump had the wisdom and discipline to back reliable conservatives like John Cornyn"

A Week Before the USA's Mid-Terms, the NYTimes Gushes Over Lula's Presidential Win, Gloating that Brazil Hands a "Stunning Rebuke to the Right" (¡No Pasarán!)
Long article, but here's the gist:
"A "stunning blow": a gushing headline in the New York Times is meant to show (and reassure) leftists of all nations that, in America as well as abroad, the left is far from defeated: Brazil hands a stunning rebuke to the right. "
Lots more in the article, but I'll add this from X:
"In Araruama, Flavio won the first round with more than double the votes of Lula.
Araruama in the second round:
Flávio won 11 votes
Lula won 5,581 votes.
