Those people DESERVE hell... right?
but Why stop at harassment? Why allow them to exist?
The new path of the left. Don't believe me? Ask Charlie Kirk
Being Mainiacs, I imagine the.neighbors are upset about different things than those rulings of his that upset me. He is already preordained to Hell for rescuing Obamacare.
Democrat Party members are assholes.
“ Neighbors have taken to the water to protest him. Calling themselves 'kayak-tivists,' they form flotillas facing his island home, holding waterproof signs conveying their disappointment.”
Reprehensible asshole-ish behavior.
Does KBJ get the same treatment? Kagan? SS?
I’d say those unhinged libs should be ashamed of themselves, but I’m sure they are very proud.
Just another example of why I quit the Democrat party.
Stupid, obnoxious behavior over imaginary problems.
I miss Scott Adams. He often commented on this “imaginary problems” thing with the Dems.
And the US Marshalls have to be alert to an assassination attempt.
Why doesn’t the leader of the Dems tell these fuckheads to knock it off?
Between the Clancy trial and these snippets, it would seem the Puritans are alive and well in New England.
Only Leftists may live in peace. I’m kind of amazed that the NYT even allowed this look outside their bubble to show what life is truly like for conservatives. Even a squishy consensus-building “centrist” conservative who purposely sides with the 3-liberal block (who never break ranks) just to balance perceptions of SCOTUS “leaning” right, even he is treated like scum and hounded in his refuge.
To what end? The Left is increasingly insane.
This is actually against the law
This is where Al Czervic (Rodney D) needs to come blasting by with his cabin cruiser.
I was reliably informed that there are Federal laws against protesting at the homes of Justices. Maybe it’s another unused law that the Trump DOJ can dust off and put to good use.
Neighbors have taken to the water to protest him. Calling themselves 'kayak-tivists,' they form flotillas facing his island home, holding waterproof signs conveying their disappointment. A local newspaper columnist recommended that people in town give him the finger....
Democrats and the left are driven by greed, envy, and hate.
They are evil violent people who will kill or imprison us if they are given the chance.
Like the 30-year-old Alien Removal Court. It sat there in its original packaging before Stephen Miller unwrapped it and gave it to Trump.
Like the software hitch that kept the SAVE law from working for 30 years. After DOGE linked the correct (but incompatible) programs together so that States could compare voter registration to SS numbers SUDDENLY the verification process worked.
"Adult Lunchables" ? -- You mean like Charcuteri Boards ?
I wonder if she's related to Starsky?
LOL Bart.
----Why doesn’t the leader of the Dems tell these fuckheads to knock it off? [DB]
Hunter is busy trying to replace his lost income, Dave.
…those fuckers already have so many people to give the finger to, like people in line for lobster rolls at Red’s. They can all go drown in cold water…
Becca Shaw Glaser looks exactly as I imagined she would look. Who the h*ll made her the arbiter of who should feel welcome in Maine?
NO QUEENS!
…I suppose if they off him it’s good for normal people since Trump will get to pick after the lawsuits to prevent him from picking are exhausted…
I have one question for these kayactivists: did you support any Covid lockdowns?
If yes, fuck off with your understanding of civil liberties and any thoughts somebody else took them from you. If no, then I’m listening.
According to Meta AI: “Abortion [in Maine] is fully legal and protected by state law before fetal viability without specific restrictions on reasons. Viability is generally around 24 to 26 weeks.”
So, obnoxious behavior over an imaginary problem.
Poor Jack and Josie.
I hope they are reunited with their real mothers one day...
Do young(er) people protest anything nowadays besides Palestine and Israel? Always seems to be retired crowd.
Human rites (e.g. planned parenthood) performed with liberal license for social, clinical, criminal, political, and climate progress. #HateLovesAbortion
While the article was surprisingly even-handed for a New York Times article, one still can wonder how it would have been presented if a bunch of protestors routinely kayaked around a summer home that belonged to KBJ or Sotomayor, never mind how the security details might react.
On a more local scale, in the past year a few towns here in NJ have had their city council meetings routinely disrupted by performative protestors, often not town residents. It's led to early recesses, cancellation of live meeting broadcasts, and other measures. Let's just say that none of these protestors are MAGA voters. Perhaps ironically, it results in more decisions and deliberations happening behind closed doors, rather than in public view.
"Why doesn’t the leader of the Dems tell these fuckheads to knock it off?"
Jesus Christ Begley, Chuck Schumer threatened the conservative justices. "“I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh: You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price,” Schumer said. “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”
The want this shit to happen.
Curious George said...
"..Chuck Schumer threatened the conservative justices.."
Chuck has threatened a LOT of people.
"During a recent statement, Schumer noted, 'If you take on the intel agencies, they have six ways from Sunday at getting revenge.' This comment has sparked discussions regarding its implications, particularly in relation to former President Donald Trump, as some observers interpret it as a hint at potential repercussions for him.."

The left-right nexus is leftist.
All's fair in lust and abortion.
It's always the same handful of people they hang these articles around.
If the same treatment was happening for one of the liberal block of Justices..."It's different when WE do it!".
Why do leftists feel so comfortable acting like Nazis?
First comment by Gilbar - nails it.
Leftists cannot stop at harassment, violence, NO tolerance, anti-free speech, anti- freedom of thought.
Nope - they want us all dead.
Doesn't sound like that big of a deal. Comes with the territory.
Roberts tried to appeases them, too.
His worst vote was for Obamacare.
Turns out Obamacare is a fraud scheme.
Indefinitely extended, inclusive public spaces. Can they abort the fetus... uh, "burden", sequester her carbon pollutants, cannibalize his (sic) profitable parts, and have her, too? Maybe, baby, a double-edged scalpel.
These kayactivists are assholes. Get a life, and leave others alone. WTF is wrong with the left where they think it helps to get in peoples faces?? It may scare him into voting their way, but they still hate him. Is it worth it John?? The left is the scum of America. Time for a good rinse off.
“ Perhaps ironically, it results in more decisions and deliberations happening behind closed doors, rather than in public view.”
That it does, which often makes me wonder if that wasn’t the point. After all, most of these protesters are not against powerful governments despite their claims of civil liberties. They don’t care how the government makes decisions, only that they come to the decisions that the protesters demand.
Protesting for a living is how old sad-fik white leftist females get their sad fik yayas.
@ Leland
Right. Glaser is probably for strict gun control.
"Neighbors have taken to the water to protest him. Calling themselves 'kayak-tivists,' they form flotillas facing his island home, holding waterproof signs conveying their disappointment."
In what universe is this normal? I mean- for people with the emotional stability of a four-year-old, it's expected. But for adults?
"Wendy Schlotterbeck, a neighbor who had been summering on Hupper Island...Three of Ms. Schlotterbeck’s relatives were transgender. Immigrant friends of hers had been arrested."
Three trans relatives. Multiple "immigrant friends." "Immigrant friends" arrested. In Maine.
Come on.
These people are insane.
More proof that it's lonely at the top. Power, and leadership, is a solitary game. Don't seek it if you aren't ready to be hated and stand alone.
"These people are insane."
"Stop insulting us" - The Insane
"Doesn't sound like that big of a deal. Comes with the territory."
What territory is that? Does it cover the territory where Democrat Party members live? Do Kagan, Sotomayor and Jackson endure this harassment? When did America become this territory where conservatives become targets for intimidation, violence, and assassination wherever they are?
Glaser wants to disarm demos-cracy. Perhaps rule by minority report. Ironic.
People protest public officials and public policies with signs, and shouting and chanting and middle fingers all the time. It happens all the time. Roberts had to expect this, especially after such a controversial issue as overturning Roe v Wade. He wanted the job. This kind of thing sometimes comes with that job. The protestors aren't breaking any laws. They have the right to peacefully assemble and express their opinions. After all, this isn't Canada.

I delight in this.

Conservatives have much to dislike or resent about the holdings of Justice Roberts (hello Obamacare). Yet we never see any sort of equivalent conduct. Apparently if all of your beliefs are self-evidently pure and correct, you have the license to harass people.
****No wonder Hunter Biden likes him some Canned Ass Owens(D)
Wait, what? I thought you people hated the Chief Justice because he fails at fellating Trump 24/7. It's so hard to keep up with your snowflake trigger points.
What territory is that?
Being Chief Justice of the SOTU.
Does it cover the territory where Democrat Party members live?
Yes.
Is Justice Roberts a conservative? Not in my opinion. Would Roberts agree with that characterization? Doubtful.
Like Begley, I believe there are quite a few of us on this blog that either were Democrats or liberal independents that voted Democrat for a good portion of our early adult lives. That's also why the hapless paid leftist trolls here have such a tough time trying to keep replaying their tired narratives...we know the drill. And we escaped the cult.
We know, And now we can't un-know.
I don't think we should hold forth until we hear what our Leftist friends here have to say.
Oh wait, this is one of those posts they scrupulously avoid.
I've said for decades now: the worst tenet of the Leftists creed is The Personal Is Political. This is just one example. They're going to push it too far and FAFO.
I trust that the loony in the kayak publicly did a land acknowledgment before beginning her assault.
Conservatives have the right to protest too, but they have jobs.
Regarding Ms. Glaser: Just because the law allows you to be a rude and stupid boor doesn't mean you should be.
I’m what Joe Biden called Ultra Dark MAGA, yet when RGB was applauded at the Santa Fe Opera, I applauded as well out of respect. What happened to liberals?
The protectors of the Our Democracy hard at work.
"Doesn't sound like that big of a deal. Comes with the territory."
Roberts has a legitimate fear for his life. There are multiple examples of what these people who whip themselves up in their "righteous indignation" are capable of.
"Wait, what? I thought …"
No you didn't.
They should use drones to enforce a flyover and harassment zone of equitable and inclusive uncivilized rights in protest for performing human rites and to lead RAATs in social progress.
Roberts' "neighbors" are children--and ill-natured ones at that.
Howard - It's Team D out there making his life miserable where he lives.
While we might grumble at some of Robert's bad decisions - we don't operate like you leftists do.
Some F-head leftist Democratic tried to kill Kavanaugh - and the entire leftist media regime do not care.
I wonder if some evil rightwinger tried to kill one of the progressive justices - how the media would react. ooo - non stop wall to wall whining.
When lefty, rich, white people turn on you . . .
Inland Maine is said to be more conservative than the seacoast the further North or East you go. Moonbats send out bat signals, so these kayakooks may come from miles away.
I don't think anyone should be harassed.
Roberts thinks that hanging out with all the right people and voting in a way that he thinks will win their approval will earn him some good will with the left. Now he is learing that it don't work dat way.
No sympathy from me for Roberts. I'm sick and tired of squishes. Pick a side or get run over.
"What happened to liberals?"
They diverged following principle, sometimes with positive effect, but always with a risk to sustained viability of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.
hopefully he sits by the ocean and waves at them.
"Roberts has a legitimate fear for his life."
It's true, he does.
I didn't see anything about these kayaktivists threatening his life or calling for violence against him. It's usually the one you don't see coming, but Roberts knew going in that becoming a Justice was becoming a potential target. I'm sure he got the briefings.
Being a judge period makes you a potential target.
People have freedom of assembly and freedom of speech. What do you want to do? Curtail it?
I appreciate your use of the "abortion" tag, Althouse. I suspect you are right and this is Dobbs anger.
I'd like to draw an important contrast. The Walk of Life protested, for decades, on January 20, outside the Supreme Court. Protesting outside the homes of individual judges is an attempt to scare them personally. "You will have no private life" is the totalitarian threat.
He is now ringed by far more security than in the past, residents say
Death threats. The NYT ought to remind its readers of the attempt to murder Justice Kavanaugh at his home. We were all lucky that the crazy assassin called his sister and she talked him out of it.
The protesters are mad that their kill-right has been revoked. Which is ridiculous. The legal rule in Maine now is that you can kill your baby up until birth. So these "kayakers" are not mad about Maine laws, or their own situations. They are mad that their worldview is not forced on the rest of the USA.
I strongly support the First Amendment "right of the people peaceably to assemble." That said, I don't do protests etc.; in fact, I mostly think they're a waste of time and often quite stupid and even silly. I don't have much use for "activist" as a profession or a passion. I do, however believe in tolerance (of differing views; not harassment, violence, looting etc.). I think that's the oil for living in a diverse country with strong individual civil rights enshrined in our Constitution. And, yes, I do actually value civility, especially IRL. So shoot me! Or drive a bedecked golf car behind my house. It won't change my views.
I would like a source for 'neighbors'.
Roberts paid the Danegeld on Obamacare. Once you demonstrate you're willing to do the bidding of leftists, it becomes an expectation. He does more of it with each passing year, but they will never leave him alone.
What does freedom or liberty mean today? For some people it doesn't refer mostly to independent self-reliance, or economic freedom, or freedom of speech or belief, but to lifestyle (i.e. sexual) liberty.
Remember the massive fit the left threw over the man who attacked Paul Pelosi? Mr. Hammering dude, who invited the guy over to sleep with him? Yeah, that was a huge problem for leftists.... sending a thousand crazed antifa terrorists to "protest" outside a Supreme Court Justice's house is juuuuust fine with them. As long as you don't harass a Democrat, right? Free speech never ever means someone gets to protest a Democrat. The guy who attacked Kavanaugh is a hero to Howard. Why isn't the guy who attacked Pelosi's husband? "Because it's (D)ifferent when Democrats do it!"
"I mostly think they're a waste of time and often quite stupid and even silly. I don't have much use for "activist" as a profession or a passion."
I think the professionals behind the scenes are whipping up a frenzy to encourage the unstable among their followers to assassination. This is a view I never would have held five years ago. But events have changed my mind.
Protesting outside a public official’s home is hardly a partisan invention. This isn’t uniquely a left-wing tactic. Right-wing activists repeatedly picketed Republican Gov. Chris Sununu’s home over COVID restrictions, and protesters with MAGA flags demonstrated outside Republican Gov. Charlie Baker’s home. Whatever one’s politics, the principle should be consistent: political protest is protected; harassment, threats and trespass are not—regardless of whose front porch is involved.
No one can live with democrats.
Roberts, by the way, is relatively pro-choice. HIs concurrence in Dobbs makes that clear. He wanted to abolish the viability doctrine and leave open the possibility that there is a constitutional right to abort pregnancies. Like many of us, he is more upset with later abortions that are clearly homicidal, as opposed to early abortions that might not be.
I would not characterize him as a pro-lifer at all. He is pragmatic on the issue, way more concerned with the Court's power and reputation than with the lives of unborn children. He single-handedly kept Roe v. Wade in place for a decade. They had five votes to overturn it for years, but Roberts was the fifth vote, and he wanted to keep it in place. That's why we needed six votes to decide Dobbs. The Chief is an anti-Roe poser. He was never a vote to throw out the opinion, until it was thrown out by other people. Only then did he join in. He didn't like Roe, but he did nothing to kill the opinion and actively tried to keep it in place.
If Roberts wanted to keep up his neutrality charade ("I'm just an umpire," he said at his confirmation hearing), he could have voted with the dissenters in Dobbs. That vote would have been irrelevant. Roe would have been overturned 5 to 4, instead of 6 to 3. And it would have kept the leftist mobs off his door. But he would probably get some dirty looks in church. So he picked his poison.
As soon as a Democrat can replace him, Roberts' protestors will kill him.
It would be funny if their nutty protests pushed Roberts rightward or stopped him from appeasing the nutters. Unlikely, unfortunately.
WTF is wrong with these people!? It’s as if they are a Continuing Criminal Comedic Parody fit for Monty Python sketches.
Compromising "centrists" like Roberts never learned the lesson that appeasement never satisfies the extremists, it just shows weakness and whets their appetites for more. "Peace in our time" and all that.
Where's a friendly Orca or a politically correct Great White Shark when you need one to sink a kayak or two? What is wrong with these people? Politics should not sink neighborliness.
Bob Boyd "This kind of thing sometimes comes with that job. The protestors aren't breaking any laws. They have the right to peacefully assemble and express their opinions."
Apparently Bob is not familiar with 18 U.S. Code § 1507: Enacted in 1950, this federal statute explicitly prohibits picketing or parading "in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer" when done with the intent to influence or impede justice.
You can encourage mobs to form around the homes of justices......or you can vote Republican.
I live in Maine. I'm not surprised. They're all like that now.
It's still not as offensive as the protesters who appeared outside Kavanaugh's house. Besides Roberts is fair game.
Maine has a particularly large contingent of wrinkly leftist moonbats......they can usually be found holding crudely made cardboard signs on the street corners up and down the coast, from Kennebunk to Ellsworth.
"hopefully he sits by the ocean and waves at them."
I love this idea. If he did everything he could to deliberately have fun with it they'd be furious. And if he had had fun despite them while ignoring them they'd really be furious.
It is unlikely that Roberts will find their digital arguments persuasive.
were previous Chief Justices also directly nominated to the position or already on Court and "Elevated"
Why are they not protesting outside Graham Platner's home? I thought he was a rapist or something. I could have sworn I read that somewhere. Weird how the crime and the outrage has disappeared into the ether. "Who? Guy with a Nazi tattoo? He's not our nominee. Let's move on."
How do Democrats walk around in Maine with a straight face? Did you have to peel off your Platner bumper sticker before you took your kayak out onto the water?

(referring to the prior quote)
That is suitably vague. What does "in or near" mean? Whenever there is a controversial case before the Supreme Court, you are going to find protestors from both sides smack dab in front of the course. And how is holding up signs being "done with the intent to influence or impede justice"?
I guess you are not a fan of the 1st amendment.

Protesting outside a public official’s home is hardly a partisan invention. This isn’t uniquely a left-wing tactic.
Such mendacious BS. Of course it's not "uniquely" leftwing. All you'd need to show it wasn't UNIQUELY leftwing is a single example of a non-leftwing protest at some official's home. But it's completely dishonest to refuse to acknowledge that dems have adopted personal intimidation and Brownshirt-inspired, "get-in-their-faces" physical confrontation as their standard M.O. for pushing their policy preferences. Your side thinks it's fine to conduct yourselves like Brownshirts because you regard conservatives as non-persons who aren't entitled to govern even if they win elections. That's your idea of "democracy."
"Apparently Bob is not familiar with 18 U.S. Code § 1507"
I am not. Nor am I a lawyer, but I'm going to guess either these kayaktivists are not violating that law because they are not trying to influence or disrupt an ongoing court proceeding or Roberts has decided he doesn't want that law enforced in this case because he thinks it will make only things worse and it's not worth it because these protests, which are not continuous, but have been held twice each summer for two summers, are not that big of a deal and arresting or trying to prevent them will only result in more protestors and more nuts and greater danger to himself and his family.
... when RGB was applauded at the Santa Fe Opera,....
Nice to know color spectrum appreciated.
𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘴 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘯-𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯'𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢 𝘰𝘧 "𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘺."
That’s a serious accusation supported by little evidence. Protests at private homes can become intimidation, but that concern applies across ideologies. Calling it the “𝘋𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘴’ 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘔.𝘖.” is a claim, not a fact. Right-wing activists have also targeted Republican officials’ homes, including armed COVID-restriction opponents who protested Gov. Chris Sununu. Princeton’s Bridging Divides Initiative documented hundreds of such demonstrations across the political spectrum. The stronger factual question is whether a particular protest involved threats, trespass, violence, or peaceful demonstration—not whether the protesters belonged to the speaker’s preferred political villain. Condemn intimidation without pretending one party has a monopoly on it or invoking “𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘴.”
IED - your side murders people they disagree with. Bugger off.
"Just another example of why I quit the Democrat party."
Why is it so much more believable when someone says she quit being a Democrat than when she claims to have quit being a Republican? (Yes, Dave, I know you're a he/him when pressed to declare it! I'm just applying my personal rule of using my own pronoun when referring to people in the abstract.)
I'm thinking it's because those who quit being Democrats can always articulate their reasons, and those reasons often follow Dave's pattern here: maybe the soon-to-be convert has some uneasy feelings about Democrat policies, but remains sure that they're on the side of the righteous. Then ... the incivility. The hypocritical incivility that makes it a pretty damn sure thing that these "kayak-tivists" all have Coexist bumper stickers and "In this house..." signs in their yards. The proto-convert is repelled by the cognitive dissonance of these positions, then starts to give a bit more weight to her doubts about Democrat policies, and to allow Republican policies a little oxygen - starts to examine what those policies actually are and what they actually do or don't do.
And ultimately this person sees that Republican policies are more likely to have the effect they claim they want to have, and the conversion gains momentum. Look at our very own Howard - he's definitely not a Man of the Right, but does anyone but me remember when he used to be a dedicated Man of the Left? He underwent some kind of evolution that allowed him to acknowledge publicly now that there are Republican policies and actions with which he agrees.
People who claim to have quit being Republican to join the Democrats? It never seems to be because they actually went through a process of critical thinking. It always seems to start *and end* with their *feelings* about some individual Republican (or fellow traveler like Trump). They don't evolve into believing that rent control and a $20 minimum wage are great policy ideas; they just hold their noses because at least the Democrats don't provide a home for this odious person. Megan McArdle, for example. The entire Bulwark staff. ImTay or whatever he's going by now (add in the Jew thing, of course.)
your side murders people they disagree with.
Your side murders people because they are trigger-happy and are frightened that they might have seen an immigrant.
@D.D. Driver, which Democrat presidential candidate did a Republican attempt to assassinate?
What Jamie just said… @10:20 AM
“Calling it the “𝘋𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘴’ 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘔.𝘖.” is a claim, not a fact.”
It’s both.
DD (D)
You are talking about the two idiot leftists who went to radical leftist Hitler-youth paid Anti-ICE Soros camp to learn how to harass and intimidate Immigration police officers?
The male who kicked a police tail-light out - his parents were worried about his anger issues. Also - anyone with a brain does not show up to a protest with a gun. Anyone with a brain follows orders from Police. There are consequences.
Oh right - you leftists assume you are all above the law and allowed to harass and intimidate Immigration police.
Roberts isn't a conservative, he's a Bush Republican. I don't care if his buddies on the Left don't appreciate him.
Besides people on the Right, never want to fight back. And finger wagging at the Left doesn't work. Unlike the Right, the left actually cares what the Government does. And they're willing to take action.
Also - Tim Walz(D)' crazy Lt Gov.- Peggy Flannigan - who is running for office in MN - She is on video asking, begging! - her Nazi youth leftist democrat constituents (Rage-fueled) to "PUT THEIR BODIES ONTEH LINE" - to aid the dems desperation to keep as many of Biden's illegals INSIDE the county.
Democrats annd their consorts are either spoiled children or seditionists. Either way they are wrecking the country over slaughtering babies, opening borders, mutilating children, cheating in women’s sports, supporting criminals, enabling grift and fraud, etc.* Choose an evil and they are all in.

Protesting outside a public official’s home is hardly a partisan invention. This isn’t uniquely a left-wing tactic. (And then gives examples of protests against Republican officials.)
Reminds me of the joke Reagan told about socialist Russia:
An American and a Russian are arguing about whose country has more freedom. The American says,
“In my country, I can walk right into the Oval Office, walk up to the President’s desk, pound my fist on it, and say,
‘Mr. President, I don’t like the way you’re running the country!’”
The Russian nods and says, “Well, I can do that too.”
“Really?” asks the surprised American.
“Yes,” replies the Russian, “I can walk right into the Kremlin, go into the General Secretary’s office, pound my fist on his desk, and say,
‘Comrade General Secretary, I don’t like the way President Reagan is running his country!’
And nobody will arrest me.”
Bob Boyd said "I am not. Nor am I a lawyer, but I'm going to guess either these kayaktivists are not violating that law"
OK, we'll put you down as pro mob then.
Notice the pattern: First, the conservatives take power. Next the activists begin targeting politicians and administration officials in their personal life. Then, the courts begin to give the activists decisions that they don't like. Next, the activists start to try to intimidate judges and jurors in their personal lives
This is the playbook now.
It's either fun or telling (or maybe both) that IEE's examples of Republicans protesting are (1) Republicans* protesting Republicans, and (2) Republicans NOT protesting judges, but rather politicians.
* In the case of protests against Sununu during COVID, he first says they were "right-wing activists" and then says they were "COVID-restriction opponents." The latter claim is at least more verifiable, and might indeed mean that these were primarily Republicans. But surely there are Granite State Democrats who opposed COVID restrictions too. So that could've been a bipartisan protest, not that it matters.
The point in brief, IEE, it's that protesting at public officials' houses isn't "uniquely a left-wing tactic"... but the left seem to be they only ones doing it to judges.
Also, the word, neighbors, is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. I'd be willing to bet that a lot, if not the majority, of the people protesting are actually activists from outside of the area.
More like hacktivists.
Who has said that 30% of the population of the country needs to be killed, exiled, or imprisoned.

LOL
Jamie--It should also be pointed out that during Covid lockdowns, the government buildings outside which protests would ordinarily be held to get the attention of public officials were empty, because the public officials had closed them and sent everyone home.
From the story:
"The first group sits on kayaks, linking oars, just a few hundred yards from his house. Behind them, others stand on the Port Clyde dock. The number of participants, on land and sea, has never been more than a few dozen."
I checked, and Grok can answer the question "What is a woman?", and would also have far less trouble with other questions that are obvious from the text of the Constitution. There is no Constitutional requirement for SC justices to be human, and we would only need one, right?
Which side would be more unhappy with A.I. deciding what the Constitution says? I would still want lawyers arguing the cases with the AI justice before the decision.
AI is far from accurate enough to do the SC thing at this point, but it will get there. When using it, I still get a lot of "You are right, I was mistaken earlier". That's not reassuring. Unfortunately, like most of us, I do tend to accept things that match my preconceptions, which is dangerous. I try to ask important questions twice in slightly different ways, which usually gets it to find its mistakes.
This is another example supporting the universal truth that, in general, lefties are nasty and hateful little shits.

Like others, I look askance at the word 'neighbors' in this article.
"In Washington and beyond, ever-present security threats as well as protests are separating and shielding the justices from the people whose lives will be affected by their decisions. They are less likely to spontaneously interact with people who disagree with their work, and their exposure to the texture and mess of everyday life is diminishing. Being just John, even here, has grown much harder."
I suspect Clarence Thomas still interacts with normal people regularly. They're just not rich people from New England with summer homes in Maine.
All of these menopausal women crying about Dobbs. Pretty rich.
Protesting at someone's home, vacation or otherwise, is a chickenshit Karen move, Full Stop. It only makes the protestators and their political breatheran look like cunts. This is standard DNC procedure.
If true that we soften with age. Umpire Roberts is definitely not the same man that with eloquent equanimity sat explaining his theories of jurist prudence. Hopefully, his desire to serve at least matches the pressure put upon him, making quitting seem viable.
Roberts is 71. I want him to hang on. Right now, I don't trust the Trump Junta to find someone of his caliber.
Neighbors who plausibly, possibly entertain violent perchance abortive ideation a la Rand Paul's et al?

Also - anyone with a brain does not show up to a protest with a gun.

Not so fast. If I'm unavoidably forced to be anywhere in the vicinity of a place where the Antifa/BLM filth are rioting, oops I mean protesting, while merely passing by and minding my own business, you bet your ass I'm going to be carrying a gun.
Obviously if I were going to take part in a protest, especially one in a Democrat shithole where the cops usually arrest the victims of left-wing violence and let the perpetrators go free, it would be foolish and provocative to show up armed. But that would be only a little more foolish than attending in the first place.
The article about Roberts feels a bit over-the-top, but it’s useful in reminding us that the old New England summer-in-Maine culture still exists. It’s also part of the social world that produced Graham Platner: his mother, some of his business partners, and several of his prominent media boosters all came from families with roots in that summer-in-Maine elite.

Melissa Hortman, Mark Hortman and Nancy Pelosi's husband would like a word with you pearl clutchers.
Also killer of Charlie Kirkie was MAGA raised mormon. That's where he learned to shoot and where he got his moral compass from.
Far be it from me to defend a POS like Roberts, but one of these days you leftists are going to push it too far.
And then it's on.
bagoh20: "AI is far from accurate enough to do the SC thing at this point, but it will get there. When using it, I still get a lot of "You are right, I was mistaken earlier". That's not reassuring."
Is that AI or the SCOTUS that keeps saying that? On abortion, death penalty (twice!), guns, etc? CC, JSM
*What happened to liberals?*
They were never liberals. They're leftists.
I care less about what people think than how they treat people with whom they disagree.
*Also killer of Charlie Kirkie was MAGA raised mormon. *
Charlie Kirk's assassin was a violent, leftist fuck.
Just like you.
My outrage meter reading is 0.0
Roberts needs to get an RV and travel the country in the summer.
Status seekers get what they deserve.
*Also killer of Charlie Kirkie was MAGA raised mormon. *
It's a well-known fact that in the history of the world, no child has ever disregarded their upbringing by acting in a way their parents disapproved of.
Charlie Kirk's killer turned leftist. A rage fueled leftist.
He was a rage fueled homosexual leftist with a trans-furry BF.
His family and friends all said he turned leftist.
His grandma thinks he is a good boy.

Melissa Hortman, Mark Hortman were murdered by a Tim Walz associate. A trained assassin. w/ No Kings rally posters in his car. The room-mate was a stupid set up. But the media got the BS lie and skipped on past. Bolter lived a double life, but he had ties to Walz. And Walz wanted Hortman dead.
I can think of no reason to kayakivist the Chief Justice other than to intimidate. Thanks, Chuck Schumer, for giving license to threaten "the whirlwind" against the Supreme Court. If you're a Democrat, it must make you so proud! Tell me again how you love America and the Constitution too.
They do this because it works. They tried to murder Justice Kavannah and he moved to the left. They threatened Justice Barrett and she moved left. Republican appointed Justices are weak and cowardly.
@CJinPA
Wendy Schlotterbeck, a former Quaker youth minister and retired public school teacher, spends a lot of time working with refugees and asylum seekers. I don't know how Roberts' other neighbors feel about him, but Schlotterbeck may be the extreme case. It looks like she is always an activist for something. She's just the sort of person the reporter would seek out for an opinion -- if she didn't seek out the reporter first.
