...to open thread a bit, a professional in finance but two never seen before events in the world of personal finance happened to me recently. I had to replace an HVAC system and the company I hired required a 50 percent deposit up front with balance due on completion. Six weeks later they have not billed for the remaining balance. I reviewed my contract and they are obligated to replace some trim around the attic access that was damaged and removed during installation. I suspect they can't find an available tradesman to do the work. I will let it run then will negotiate a settlement if necessary...second a flight was delayed and I was forced to remain away from home for nearly two days. My charge card offers reimbursement for flight delay expenses- rental car, meals, lodging to a limit. I cannot submit my claim as the rental car company has not charged the rental to my account. I submitted the receipt to the insurer for reimbursement but they won't allow the claim to proceed until I'm charged. It's six weeks and counting on that one, too...
Beautiful imagery, Ann & Meade. We're still mired deeply in the tropical heat and moisture of a South Florida summer. Summer here keeps pounding you until sometime in mid-October. We're getting through it, but honestly, it seems harder every year. Like Michigan winters used to be for me. Anyway... Rehajm- I get where you're coming from. Nothing works anymore. I had a Labcorp appt this morning for blood work requested by my doctor, D. Racula. She always requests very detailed labs, which is good, but requires many liters of blood. Labcorp was full at 7:15, and as usual, had 2 employees running the place- both having to check in people and draw their blood. And, per their operation standard, their computer system is from the late 90s. They can never manage to get things through their system to accept and spit out the necessary information for them to draw my blood. And so, after sitting in the chair for 45 minutes, they asked if I could come back tomorrow morning when they were sure they'd have it figured out.
I've been getting blood draws for years. Decades. I've watched Quest suck at what they do. And now I've watched Labcorp slowly but surely get awful at what they do. It's a lot of little things that start to crack. But it's spread throughout our civilization in virtually everything around us. It starts with a few cracks in the wall...
Nothing works anymore. Except this blog. And this paddle ball. This blog and this paddle ball. And this chair. Nothing works anymore except this blog, this paddle ball, and this chair. And this Bic pen. This blog, this paddle ball, this chair, and this Bic ballpoint pen. Nothing else.
…yes we have the lab nightmare as well. We’re lucky because I discovered a location nearby that for some reason has light traffic and competent phlebotomists…
Was reading IEEE's screeching earlier about "reee high diesel high gas bad trump reeee!" and I thought: What, precisely, is IEEE and the left planning to do to "fix" the problem they are claiming trump is causing? They are, after all, the party that Joe Biden ran on making gas as expensive as Europe is... 7 dollars a gallon or more. Their energy policy is "ban all the oil and gas and force everyone to use a Chinese EV while we kill all the power generating in the country!"
So: IEEE, you are complaining about Trump's high oil and gas prices? What's the plan from you leftists to fix it? Ban oil? Ban gas again? Not get Venezuela's oil?
I think IEEE's plan, if one existed, would be "Just let Iran nuke Israel and kill all the Jews but then oil would go down! what could possibly go wrong if we just surrender to Iran?"
Oh here's one: the Prime Minister of Canada has demanded that Americans stop mocking Canada and him with memes and until they do he won't do any more trade talks.
Yes, we Americans must no longer meme in order to make the Canadians happy.
Anyone besides IEEE want to guess how well that is going over? IEEE wants to be the enforcer....

Damn. September already.
Fall is my favorite season, but I wouldn't mind time passing a little slower.
...was getting YouTube TV moment of zen vibes...right up until the backup beepers...
...Summer has come and passed. The innocent can never last · Wake me up when September ends ...

Not feeling the September yet, as it is 103 degrees where I live now in Kansas. It's been that way for a couple of weeks now.

The left breaks things, they don't fix them.

"Anyone besides IEEE want to guess..."
He doesn't have to guess. Somebody will tell him how to respond. And he'll do it.
