It’s a due process decision. CNN, MSNOW, and Politico had no time to dispute the ban. I guess all the times Trump called them Fake News wasn’t enough notice. It’ll be interesting to see if he provides notice now, and with what rationale. Can’t be for pure free speech, I.e. not liking what they report. It’d have to be some national security angle I would think.

I think a key difference is that Xi is near maniacally focused on building China's long-term power, whereas Trump is instinctively focused on building his own power and the wealth of his family. Trump is facing a drubbing in the coming midterms as well.
I would guess Xi is preparing a package of strategically meaningless concessions that will play well with voters and perhaps also inflate Trump-family holdings.

There will be a future credit crunch in private credit:
• Future revenues are over-estimated
• Future executory costs are under-estimated
• Future liquidation values-collateral values are over-estimated
The crunch will stress financial institutions and keep risk premiums high.
The Trump administration has never successfully extricated itself from a crisis. The Middle East war is going to stay bad and possibly get worse. A substantial part of the American plutocracy supports more and continued war--and they dominate the top policy making circles. The result will be to embed escalating energy prices into global supply chains. Federal Reserve credibility on fighting inflation is never going to get "more credible." It's going to wring its hands at 4-5% inflation but do little. Inflation premiums will stay high.
China will increasingly be seen as winning the global strategy game through economic and trade competition. AI will in particular help China's manufacturing sector -- which wins the big dividends.
The Chinese government is effective; the current US government is not.
