Seriously, it's not even a good reason. Like, say, "I oppose drinking because drunken people and the fact it's unhealthy." That's at least defensible. Nope, it's "Don't drink beer because you are white and drinking beer is racist!"

That is NOT the Racial Equity Budget Tool in action, it's a completely different kind of equity.

I am not a supporter of Dem racist policies by any means, but the point that Crowley was trying to make was not that beer gardens are racist, but that allocating taxpayer money to things that are very disproportionally supported/used by rich white folks, if not racist, at least has a racial component. I am not at all certain that there is a racist component to it, but I am also not sure why you are okay with the government forceably taking your hard-earned dollars to promote alcohol consumption by the rich. Let the beer garden pay its full freight, for f**ks sake.

This is why we can't have nice things. What the hell is wrong with marinas, golf courses and beer gardens? They make people happy. Even black people who like to go to the waterfront, drink beer and look at the rich people's boats. And black people who like to play golf (there are lots of them). Marinas, golf courses and beer gardens raise the aesthetic value of the community, and thus raise the financial value of the community, for everyone who belongs to the community, including the black people.
Instead, the nice municipal property gets paved over for public housing, and tennis and basketball courts. the basketball courts get used, the tennis courts don't, the place becomes an eyesore and open air drug market, property values go down and politicians like Crowley complain about "white flight." After a couple of decades of driving down the property values this way, young white people start to buy distressed properties and fix them up, because they are cheap. This is called "gentrification."

A plain reading of this would be that the revenue generated by all those white beer drinkers with discretionary income is supporting all the other country parks, including those used more by non-whites and poorer people. How is that not supporting "equity" under the definition used by Crowley?
The point is that nobody should have "discretionary income." Not even black people who don't actually work in government or education. And also that government property should not be used to benefit the taxpayers who pay most of the taxes; it's purpose is solely to promote "social justice." All excess money held by anybody is "obscene" and should be devoted to "the common good", as decreed by those who are better and more enlightened than all of you grubby people clamoring after money at the expense of the perfect state.
Does it ever occur to the promoters of "equity" that the reason that the nice white suburbs are so nice (so nice that black people want to move to them, even though they are populated by "racists) is because the governments of those suburbs have used the tax dollars paid by their residents to develop nice public things, like marinas and parks and golf courses and food plazas and beer gardens?

Again, I totally agree with this in principle. I just don't know how beer gardens became a "public resource." If everyone doesn't like what the government is doing (albeit for vastly different reasons), the logical answer is LESS GOVERNMENT.

Well, sure. Conservatives have been saying that forever. Unfortunately, that option never seems to be on the table. Eventually, the people in favor of less government come to the realization that the only choices available are A) spending for things they support or B) things they don't support.

Beyond what he did or did not mean about, specifically, beer gardens, he strikes me as very clearly signaling that, if elected, he will focus on specifically, the needs of Wisconsin’s non-white citizens,and you whiteys can just go to Hell for all he cares.
Everybody wants to live in a "nice" city or town. Every "nice" city or town I've ever encountered, except in some rural areas, has public resources devoted to recreational and entertainment spaces which the people who live there enjoy, consider an enhancement and a public benefit, and pay taxes to support. If the residents don't want those things, they vote for local politicians who oppose such things. What Crowley said is that if white people behave this way they are racist.
Crowley is a black Democrat. He sees race and its affects on society. And he sees blacks in Winsconsin (and probably Asians) not going to "beer gardens" so its bad. And he probably imagines Trump voters to to beer gardens.
Of course all Republicans are doing by bringing this up is dog-whistling to white voters during election time. In reality, the Republican elite wouldn't be caught dead in a "Beer Garden" and wont do a damn thing to help the people there.
To them the only thing that matters is (1) low taxes and (2) helping Business.
I doubt Crowley will be anymore "anti-white" than the Republican Governor. With the R's any talk of being Pro-white or Anti-white is campaign rhetoric.

IRC, "Beer Gardens" were imported by the Krauts. On Saturday, and on Sunday after church, everyone went there had some food, some beer, and a good time. Of course, the the 19th century Anglos hated that.
To the anglos - one spent sunday like puritan, reading the bible and thinking about God, or you got drunk on whiskey. And had sex or got into a fight. The idea of going someplace with their family, and just having a good time and drinking in moderation was beyond them.

The beer garden is a profit center and funds many of other park services. According to Wisconsin Public Radio, “the beer gardens result in about $3 million in revenue for the parks department each year.”

Beer gardens used to be the target of prejudice. Specifically anti-German prejudice.
