The Progressives have mostly failed to legalize the voting access for illegal aliens, most of them from Central/South America, so now they're turning to another demographic for cheap and easy votes: Islamists. They continue to show just how easy it is for them to indulge in political pander.
While there were dozens of reasons that South American values are at odds with those of the Democratic Party, the old alignment on voting their constituents free money is the most useful one. Race and color don't actually overlap all that much. Many southern Indians - Tamils - are blacker than the average full-blooded African. And yes, I learned in high school that there are basically three-and-a-half races: Negro (=sub-Saharan African), Oriental (East but not South Asians), and Caucasian (Europeans, North Africans, Middle Easterners, and South Asians, no matter how dark). American Indians were the "and-a-half" because they are much closer to East Asians than to the other two. 'Hispanics' are not a race but a geographical and language category: they can be any of the four (e.g. black Brazilians, Japanese-Peruvians like Fujimori, Palestinian-Salvadorans like Bukele) or any mixture of one or more of them.
People who talk about black, white, Asian (NOT 'yellow'!), and brown are trying to lump together American and Asian Indians, plus Arabs, Iranians, and North Africans as allies against whites. There is no 'brown' race.
Democrats, being obsessed with race, assume everyone is just as obsessed. Polls in the US show approval of interracial marriage at 94%.
That being said, Indians, especially those of Brahmin origin, are not a separate race from Caucasian, so the Vance marriage isn't interracial. I am sincerely sorry for your family trauma. However, it demonstrates what I was saying: that Brits and Euros define 'race' much more broadly than we do, to include ethnicity. At that point in history, the Brits were still discriminating against the Irish, who are only slightly genetically different from the half-Celtic modern English. And of course they discriminated the hell against the Roma, who are just as Caucasian as them.
