I've lived in Texas off and on for almost 30 years. I've seen no statewide office go to a Democrat since I got here. I lived through the Beto O'Rourke years. To me, it's wild that an oddball like Talerico, a very left of center candidate with a lot of non-mainstream views, is running at least neck and neck with a sitting state AG endorsed by the governor and the president. There must be people out there like me that think it's worth having a divided government if it means seeing the last of these scumbags.

I am a Texan and look forward to voting for Ken Paxton with great joy. If you live in Texas, you know this ad, the one about Adam Hoffman. It is an interesting story and effective ad, but it lies. The case is similar to recent news. A criminal commits a crime, this case some sort of inappropriate conduct with someone around age 6. It’s bad. He’s tried by the state of Texas for the crime, but he’s a well connected lawyer and knows how to defend himself. Get this, the trial ends with a hung jury. Someone was a hold out.
What does this have to do with Ken Paxton? Nothing. After the trial, an attorney in the AG’s office did as they do and pushed for a guilty plea. They did this before the first trial and then threatened a second trial. But because of a hung jury, there was a higher chance of acquittal. Not wanting this guy to go free, they got Hoffman to plea to a felony which Hoffman did to get only a day in prison. But the felony took his law license and permanently registered him as a sex offender. While the AG worked in Paxton’s office, there is no evidence he played any part in this deal other than setting policy to do what was necessary to get a conviction.
I don’t like it, but I’ve served as jurist when a similar offender was being tried for a second time. We had hold outs with unreasonable doubt. The first vote was 50/50. But the accused took the stand in the second trial, and I and others felt like he perjured his defense lawyers case. After several hours and a nights rest then more hours, the evidence was reviewed sufficiently for the hold outs to accept their doubt lacked reasoning. Reading the recent headlines, newer hold outs are likely not to budge.

@PerthJim, the tariffs aren’t capricious, some allies have been allies in name only and need a wake-up call, the Venezuela deal is a sn-win for both countries, and on the whole, DNC’s I am not an elitist like you, yes I support what Trump is doing.
