First, it's not 3 hours to the Greenbelt Metro station. Google Maps says 41 to 48 minutes by Metro and bus to the White House. Second, it'd be adjacent to the University of Maryland in College Park. Third, it'd be half way to spook central (NSA) at Fort Meade. Fourth, it's smack dab in the black residential region between eastern DC and Baltimore. Fifth, the broad DC area is extremely left/liberal, to include any reasonable commute in Virginia. The only non-left place nearby is West Virginia, with the close point of Harper's Ferry a 2+ hour commute. Six, the FBI staff will fail their drug tests because of the rampant MJ use/smell on the Green Line Metro.
So, while Trump is correct about it being in a liberal location, the solution would actually be to put it 3 hours away from DC.
The solution for all federal agencies is to place them in Lebanon , Kansas. That’s the geographic center of the lower 48.
For me, just about every morning begins with a news story/opinion piece regarding Trump in a fight/controversy over one thing or another. Predictable as the sun rising.

My recollection is that Trump urged the FBI to repurpose an existing Federal property. That original article was about how the occupancy rates in Federal buildings was appallingly low and some consolidation and sell-off was contemplated.
The only consistent thread I saw in this excerpt is the cost ($1B) and Trump saying “hell no” to another Federal Reserve type boondoggle. Everything else is just noise. If we have EXISTING SPACE in US government property and can avoid the expense of a new HQ then we should. Far fewer agents are lazing around DC than before.

It is a great idea to repurpose currently vacant federal space but that is not the point. The point is that Congress authorized the new facility so it can’t be stopped by executive fiat.
This is like the White House Ballroom kerfuffle. The idea of a ballroom is a great idea. The problem is that the law requires Congressional approval for all new construction in the district.
Trump should just follow the damn law.

The headquarters is being moved to a high-crime area with incompetent police. The subway will not be safe unless patrolled ceaselessly. The ride itself will involve changing lines for most people so for these reasons, most will go by car.

Distance on Google maps is meaningless. The question is: are you going with or against the rush hour flow from your home to Greenbelt. One hour commutes each way are common in DC wherever you are going. This new location will require people who live in Virginia and are, at present, fairly close to current headquarters to get on the Beltway and go around half of DC, sometimes with the rush hour flow, sometimes against it. People in Maryland will have the same problem.
It's not a good idea as it stands.
I hope Trump succeeds. Too much corruption when the dem party controls things.

Trump and the Republican Congress should have blocked that last year. My recollection is that Trump opposed the move and then didn't, thinking that Kash Patel would improve the agency, and then opposed it again. I could be wrong about that.
Moving agencies outside of DC may be a good idea but giving them fortresses like the FBI wants may not change much. Agents will be mixing with their own, not with the locals.

Not that the FBI isn’t capable of it. Found out, after 5 years, that they had 274 plain clothed/undercover agents at the January 6 protests. Plus dozens of informants and instigators. And knew that AntiFA had at least two bus loads of instigators there that day. Which they failed to disclose hundreds of times to the defendants that they helped railroad into prison. One of the largest Brady violations ever.
So, no. You don’t know that they weren’t involved in, or even orchestrated the Patriot Front. You only know that they denied it. But they denied having the 274 agents at the Capital on 1/6/2021.

Reading just the linked New York Times article, I could easily come away with the idea that the judge joined other DC jurists in creatively exercising his TDS to reach his ruling. Thankfully an article in the Epoch Times explained thecissues and, really, the ruling seems correct. Nice to have a neutral take in some Trump-related topic that really is, you know, neutral.

One advantage of the distributed-capital concept is that, once it's been distributed, there's no longer a need for a capital city. Imagine if all the major agencies were no longer in DC - even if they're only across the river or across Eastern Ave. Then there is substantially less logic for DC to exist at all, let alone be its own state. The land could be retroceded to Maryland, and the quarter-million or so Dem voters could happily vote for Maryland senators. Eleanor Holmes Norton could be made a real MC rather than a delegate before she's promoted into the heavenly legislature.

DC has a wealthy (white) power elite on the west and north, and it draws in ambitious political types of all sorts. It also has lobbyists and foreign students/embassies. Maryland has some wealthy pockets--and poorer ones like Baltimore. PG County is between the poor black side of DC (east), and the often very very very poor Baltimore.
DC and that part of Maryland have a somewhat different sort of leftism: Wine and cocktails, luxury cars, cafes, coffee shops, power, and control vs. lifelong dependence and urban decay.
Once again I have to call on God to settle the matter:
