Love the pictures, as usual. Some people here think I never say anything positive about Trump, because I would prefer Rubio or DeSantis as my Republican President. So here is my positive statement about Trump. I think his new hairpiece actually makes him look younger and more vibrant. It's not like a Howard Cosell hairpiece. I still think Trump will be responsible for the Republicans losing the House in the mid-terms (hopefully not the Senate), because he wants to make the election all about him, and that he will never accept responsibility for the defeat, and that he will be impeached again, but that is the road he has decided to go down. 64 percent of current voters disapprove of Trump's performance in office, and the majority of voters disapprove of his Iran War. But hey, why talk about that, when we can talk about re-naming Lake Ontario to Lake America. GO MAGA!!!
The other day, coming into Fort Worth, there was a thin overcast. Not enough to blot out the sun entirely, just enough to screen it. And with the sun still high in the sky, late afternoon, the sun was a bright orange orb, about the same color as in photo #2, but slightly dimmer. Looked like a huge, orange, 75 watt bulb, bright but not painful to look at. The overcast was correspondingly orange, and with the temps over 100°, it created a feeling of a stuffy, tepid, prehistorical climate, hot and arid. Very rare to see the sun like that.
It’s the Senate’s fault the Republicans are going to lose the House. They have sucked the life out of the Trump coalition by refusing to pass the 80-20 legislation the House is feeding them. Ironically, they won’t lose the Senate.
It makes no sense to say Trump wants the midterms to be all about Trump. That’s the Democrats—in their hands, everything, literally everything, is about Trump.
Trump put out a chart of best and worst presidents. He of course made himself the GOAT. The bottom row has some predictable entries, such as JC and Barack Hussein Obama. But it also has Grant! I am surprised that Trump, a New Yorker, would issue such a harsh verdict on old Sam.
I mean he had the scandals among his staff, but you could say kinda the same thing about Trump. Blame Grant for Delano, Belknap, etc., and you have to blame Trump for Fauci and Milley, don't you? And of course Grant presided over the 1876 election and its death blow to Reconstruction, but really the country was not in a mood to force any more changes in the South. Blaming Grant for this would be like blaming Trump for the 2020 riots.
And Buchanan is one rung above Grant! WTF?
Plus, interestingly enough, FDR is on the Great rung, just below Trump's one-man category of Greatest.
What does the commentariat think? Does Sam Grant belong on the same lowest rung as JC, BHO, Warren Harding, and Autopen? CC, JSM
This was a comment at Instapundit: Before Trump “In a sense, the RINO/GOPe party was a psy-op to keep expectations so low it never had to do much except talk the talk--but it never had to deliver the goods, and didn't. Voters were lulled or numbed into a kind of fatalism which essentially normalized ineffectual performance.”

https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/trump-announces-biggest-oil-deal-world-history-says-substantially-lower-gas-prices President Donald Trump announced a major oil agreement with Venezuela Friday, saying the U.S. has secured majority control of more than 65 billion barrels of the country's proven oil reserves.
"The bottom row has some predictable entries, such as JC and Barack Hussein Obama. But it also has Grant! I am surprised that Trump, a New Yorker, would issue such a harsh verdict on old Sam."
Trump just borrowed an old chart that leftist Arthur Schlesinger made back around 1950, put himself at the top and added Obama and Carter on the bottom. I'm sure he didn't bother doing much else. Agree that Grant belongs near the top, and I think even academic historians have raised his standing in recent decades.
“The best-managed crisis is the one that never happens. You, by contrast, appear to view preventable crises not as failures to avert but as welcome opportunities to expand government control — with ordinary Americans paying the price.”
Trump is on track to be one of the greatest if you judge just on accomplishments in an unemotional unpartisan way. People forget his successes, because there are so many, and we are at the point where we actually expect something big every single day, whether to hate or love, but the man makes a mark. I doubt that was true of any past President. This is on a backdrop of the nation handed to him in a dangerous situation of theft, graft and corruption permeating virtually every institution and threatening to eat away at the nation like termites on a wooden house. He will not be enough to save it. We need probably 8 - 12 more years of DOGE like work rooting out the pestilence, and it will be a tooth and nail fight the whole time.
