Those ducks are sitting there thinking, “This water is getting really yucky. I’m tired of trying to swim through this crap. Isn’t it about time to head south again?”
I recommend the Inn at the Tides in Bodega Bay to anyone visiting the SF Bay Area/North Coast. Very enjoyable stay and the numerous small eateries selling the best seafood we’ve had in decades are guaranteed to please.
rcommal, it seems to me the pattern has been established that a sunrise photo by Meade, or one of another subject, is an interim open thread. The closing sunrise post is a photo by our hostess, unless there was some reason photos were not obtained (though from time to time another photo has been substituted)
Kudos to meade for leaving the nature sounds in and not overriding with hes personal pop soundtrack... think of her readers, keep the private stuff private.
**Iman said... I recommend the Inn at the Tides in Bodega Bay to anyone visiting the SF Bay Area/North Coast. Very enjoyable stay and the numerous small eateries selling the best seafood we’ve had in decades are guaranteed to please.** Almost 10 years ago our son was married in wine country, but the rest of us stayed in Petaluma. We ate at some little Chinese restaurant "hole in the mall" and it was the best seafood we ever had. We tried all different samples and the owner himself came over to talk with/serve us. I didn't really care for SF, but heading north was very enjoyable. Went on a horseback ride with Bodega Bay in view.
They can keep SF, BG… what was a great, enjoyable place to spend a day with our kids riding the cable cars around the city and eating lunch or dinner at Scoma’s @Fisherman’s Wharf is no more. We hadn’t visited Bodega for a couple of decades and this time, we really checked it out. Not much sunshine this trip, but the people and the food were outstanding.
And Petaluma is a pretty city, as well. Truth be told, the North Coast (e.g., Sea Ranch, Mendocino) is a place we’ve come to love. We have a time share in Laguna Beach in SoCal, but that place is crowded and frantic during the Summer and North Coast is calm and relaxing.

We had a longstanding daily duck problem, and I showed our Australian Shepperd how to chase them off once, and now it's her favorite thing. The ducks have completely stopped coming, but we get an occasional Great Blue Heron that eats my goldfish and Koi if we don't see him. She chases him off too, but he still comes back. Nothing gets that dog as excited as chasing off birds. When we take her to the lake, and ducks land nearby, she will just start swimming after them and we have to call her back or she'll swim across the damn lake.
Warren on the Senate Finance Committee squealed ‘GE doesn’t pay taxes!!!’ when it was apparent she had no idea what a tax loss carryforward is. ThatMs dangerous enough but some of her leftie friends had heard of one and began calls to outlaw the evil ‘loophole’…incredible!
When old age shall this generation waste, Thou shalt remain, in midst of other woe Than ours, a friend to man, to whom thou say'st, "Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.
I read this after watching a Youtube video on the TOS episode "Is there in truth, no beauty".
The whole point of the TOS episode is show us that appearence is deceptive and that not all beauty is good and not all that's ugly is bad.
But then its a SF TV show. In real life, ugliness is often a marker of badness.
…based on movement from the Nevada side it looks like some more California defectors headed across the border as home sales are picking up pace in my neighborhood there. The tax expert from the other side of my bed says a bit too late perhaps but we’ll see…
The most hilarious thing about the comments on that TOS episode is how they all miss that. Instead, they all want to discuss how Kirk, McCoy and Scotty are all pig-dogs for saying this to Miranda (the guest star) :
"KIRK: Yes, I think most of us are attracted by beauty and repelled by ugliness. One of the last of our prejudices. At the risk of sounding prejudiced, gentlemen, here's to beauty. (they stand for the toast) To Miranda Jones, the loveliest human ever to grace a starship. MCCOY: How can one so beautiful condemn herself to look upon ugliness the rest of her life? Will we allow it, gentlemen? ALL: Certainly not."
BTW, the author of these words was a woman. But of course, the reviewers are convinced that everyone meant "I want to rape you".
3rd Seaon Star Trek the Original series is under-rated. I can see why RH used to comment on "Get Smart" so often. These 60s TV shows had a quality that more current TV shows dont.
Driving home from the smokies to 100 plus degree Dallas…I put on a playlist I call “lush “. (I am very good at playlists.) mixes designed to stump the algorithm, always includes a few wildcards. This one ranges from father John misty and weyes blood to Judy Collins and Crosby stills Nash …. It is the latter that inspired a melancholic reverie today: how is it possible that the same blokes who composed Our House— the most winsome paean ever to love that is solid, exclusive and eternal — also write “love the one you’re with,” arguably ruining the boomer generation? Personally I would like an apology.
Nothing is more difficult than trying to convince some money loving greedhead that lots of people don't care about $$. Or that smart people understand that money is a tool - not and the end objective.
Me got lots of money. Me OK. Tell that to the bourgouise of China, Russia,, and Germany.
I was working at one of our branch offices. It occupied two buildings with a grassy area between them, and one fall a flock of Canadian geese settled on that green space to attack people trying to move between buildings, while leaving greenish calling cards for us humans to accidentally step on and track indoors.
One day security roped off a space in the parking lot that bordered the green space, and mid-morning, after the flock had landed and settled in, a pickup truck with a camper rolled up. Security unblocked the space and the truck backed in. An older man got out of the truck, surveyed the scene, unlocked the tailgate, and let three border collies out.
Those border collies raced out of the truck and charged the flock at high speed, and the geese took to the sky immediately. The scene was repeated the next day and then the geese stopped coming. No one missed them.

Lovely.
That image looks like it would blend nicely with a good cup of coffee.
Was in upstate New York this past weekend swimming in multiple lakes and ponds. Absolutely glorious. Fall is definitely coming.
It seems early for the daily sunrise post!
Life on, near the water is serene and aesthetic.
Those ducks are sitting there thinking, “This water is getting really yucky. I’m tired of trying to swim through this crap. Isn’t it about time to head south again?”
We are in a running battle to keep the ducks off our pier.
Teach your dog to chase the ducks and the problem is solved. They love the job, and can't wait for more work.
Ducks looking wooden.
Nice sunrise.
Are they real, or is it memorex?

Just watch out for the birds.
Althouse has waited for the duck of her dreams to appear.
But the drake doesnt appear.
She gives up. And walks back to Meade.
You have to deal with the cards life gives you.
"Teach your dog to chase the ducks and the problem is solved."
First I'd have to get a dog.
Fake it. Ducks are dumb.

The pellet gun appears to dissuade them. I think the frequency of their visits has decreased.
What hasn't worked is the mechanical owl my neighbor leant me.

without Chinese tariffs - the chi coms will end up running the show here. (long term) Which is fine by the communist dems.

Yeah people who dont want to pay taxes are fleeing to NV. So what? They'll be gone, and the Left will tighten its grip on power.
No one cares if the greedheads leave California. Go take your money. No one gives a fuck.
Just more rightwing loser talk. "Why they'll be sorry when I leave." No, they wont. Not at all.

Which fills faster, Donald J Trump's diaper or his bank accounts, from all the grifting his criminal activities procure?
Which is stinkier; his lose feces filling his nappy or the stench of corruption coming off his presidency?
