But I can see the trick, said I. It's so obvious!

I have a miniscule amount of sympathy for Jill. She's trying to avoid the reality that her life - which is inextricably linked to Joe's - has been a dismal, shambling failure. I don't think we ever found out what happened. They made it sound like food poisoning or something. But, what if it was related to his cancer (which was being covered up). In the moment, the medical emergency seemed to play a much bigger role than the debate performance. He was defiant after the debate performance.

I heard some clips yesterday of Psaki being interviewed about Joe Biden's mental capacity. She kept saying things like, "I saw someone who was in control. I saw someone who was always prepared. I saw someone who..." Never saying who "someone" was.
And then, "There were days when I was called to the president's office, and I was nervous, because I knew he was going to [ask a lot of questions or thereabouts]." Note that she implied but never actually said that it was the president himself who was going to grill her.
It's long been my belief that most people don't like telling a bald-faced lie. They'll lie, but they'll try to do so in a way that they can later deny. I have no reason to hold this belief, but I've heard a lot of public figures covering their lies in the same way Psaki did. Joe Scarborough's lie isn't in this category, though - he can't wiggle out of what he said by saying he meant somebody else when the name Biden came out of his mouth.

The offer to debate in June was a bluff by the Biden Campaign. The terms they offered were designed to make Trump turn it down and, once Trump had refused, they were going to refuse to negotiate any future debates by claiming Trump had already decided the matter by his refusal. When Trump called the bluff within minutes, they were stuck.

Also recall they thought they had an ace up their sleeve with one of Jack Smith's corrupt indictments scheduled to start trial in May 2024 and producing a guilty verdict so they could claim they couldn't "platform" a convicted felon. The trial date was delayed, and then they couldn't back out.
