" The Iranians know what we all know: Trump has even more forces heading to the Persian Gulf, as do nearly two dozen Western navies, as well as Japan. As I wrote yesterday, Trump has the luxuries of time and options, while Iran is rapidly running out of both. The US has deployed real ground troops into the theater, including the 82nd Airborne, and two Marine Expeditionary Units (~2500 Marines each) will arrive soon. One MEU will arrive this week on the USS Tripoli and its amphibious task force. US allies are building a massive escort force to uncork shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. I think the specific type of performative this video is talking about is the Performative Male archetype. I've noticed a lot of online jokes mocking the Performative Male over the last half year or so. A reasonable definition of the Performative Male from what I've seen is something like this,
"A "performative male" is a slang term for a man who insincerely adopts "soft" or progressive traits—like reading feminist literature, sipping matcha, or wearing thrifted fashion—solely to appear safe, stylish, or appealing to women. It describes a curated, inauthentic, or "posery" brand of masculinity designed for social advantage."
The question arises is it possible for a person not to be performative once they are aware of how their actions and appearances might be interpreted by others?
College professors back down to stupid muscleheads for fear of getting hurt?
Is this about JD Vance or how the IDF supporters have taken over discussion via intimidation in the classroom? I only saw the beginnings of that years ago...
Dont hide the ball. Spell it out what this means to you? Is ir supposed to be funny?
I always have high hopes for these animations that are never quite realized. I fear I'm not clever enough to get the joke, but I would never admit that publicly.
Speaking of performative reading, mom hasn't posted lately how far through Chrissy is with their march through the hall of presidents... he's reading, not listening to books on tape, right?
I don’t like the word “performative”. I believe it is used solely to make the user appear “hip”, “trendy” or as the French say, “au courant”. Performative behavior is insincere, false, and done for the purpose of impressing others. The word “performative” is a term du jour used to impress people when other perfectly acceptable words, such as “insincere” or “false” will do. Is using the word “performative” performative?

Woke and morally broke. Wakeup.
Speaking of Marines and being performative.

These strike me as mediocre parodies for a short attention span generation. They are too long, to literal, and not very clever.
Average became genius level in Idiocracy.
Decades ago NPR had a short intersticial comic feature called "Sensitive Male Hotline." A call-in show format, and actually pretty funny.
Intentionally funny, not like the rest of their product.
I am afraid I am not hip enough to "get" these.
I don't get it either?

Animaters usually don't write good dialog. Writers can't animate.
If you don't get the joke,
You ARE the joke??
'Performative' is a funny way to spell 'idiot'.

Yeah, about one out of 20 of these little cartoon shorts is mildly funny. Comedy is a tough game to do well.
hmmmm. Those were comedy?

Fail.
C’mon guys— give her a break. It’s probably just a slow news day. Very slow.
Performative₁ or Performative₂ ?
