Here is the soft launch of the @CBSEveningNews with @TonyDokoupil, not official until Monday, but kicking off two days early in light of the U.S. military strikes in Venezuela and capture of Nicolas Maduro pic.twitter.com/gFlviKfkqh

You seem to think you can amuse us by painting a picture of a man and his wife caught in their pajamas, but I'm not amused. Their capture is serious matter, not a prank. It wasn't about humiliating them. And you humiliate yourself with that glaring, grating grammar mistake.
Get proper editing. How is this mainstream, professional journalism? I'd be embarrassed, on my little 1-person blog, to have written something as bad as "grabbing he and his wife in their pajamas."

Really?! You really believe that shit?
i know, right? Should have been "grabbing xe and xes wife in xer pajamas."
Are those the pajamas Maduro shot an elephant in?
Fortunately we have leftwing Learing Center to compensate the rest of us basket of deplorables for AI deficiencies.
I'm reliably told it was one of Pablo Escobar's Colombian hippopotami that he shot in his pajamas.
The double post is not on me.
I'm with Freder on this one. This wasn't a "capture", it was a rescue mission. Maduro had plans last year to go into exile in Turkey (They can spell it any way they like. I spell it Turkey), but decided he wouldn't be safe there. In fact, the only place on Earth he'd be safe is the US. And in return for that safety, he is going to have to rat out all his cronies. Which is why he wouldn't be safe in Turkey. He may not even be safe in the US. Epstein wasn't.
I have read that Venezuela made large contributions to the Clinton Foundation. If Maduro is in a position to send Hillary Clinton to prison ....
He wouldn't be safe on the Moon.
"The double post is not on me."
You know, you can delete your own posts. That's what that little garbage-can icon is about.
This is scary. No sooner did I post a comment about Maduro shooting an elephant in his pajamas, but at the top of my YouTube was a clip of Groucho as Captain Spalding.
It would be nice if you could edit your own posts. But blogspot.com is a tiny company, run by a couple of aging Boomers from a freezing garage in Nevada, and they just don't have the bandwidth to add editing features.
I'm reliably told it was one of Pablo Escobar's Colombian hippopotami that he shot in his pajamas.
Those animals are becoming a serious pest to farmers along the Magdalena River. There are hundreds of them now.
This news item had to have been written by AI:
RCMP officers needing to get to a remote cabin near Glenwood in the early hours of New Year’s Day to investigate complaints of multiple people being assaulted by a group of suspects, had to seek assistance from volunteers with Bonavista Bay Search and Rescue to get through the heavy snowfall.
You know how I know this was AI, because I asked ChatGPT to tell me what was wrong with the use of "suspect" in the article, and it kind of knew there was *something* wrong with saying that they were attacked by "suspects" rather than, say "attackers" but it couldn't put its finger on it.
“Doesn't AI stop you from making basic grammar errors like "grabbing he and his wife in their pajamas"?”
Tony’s not AI, he’s a meatsack. Unfortunately, AI is still allowing the meatsacks free will. Hopefully that will change with the next update.
"a man and his wife caught in their pajamas"
My mind went straight to "how did an elephant get into Maduro's Pajamas, I'll never know".
“Their capture is serious matter” ?
I prefer grammatical mistakes to lying.
You seem to think you can amuse us by painting a picture of a man and his wife caught in their pajamas, but I'm not amused.
Neither Tony Dokoupil nor Bari Weiss nor I care whether you are amused. If you could climb down from your towering dudgeon, Professor, you might consider the fairly obvious possibility that Maduro and spouse being captured in their pajamas emphasizes the speed and level of surprise of this mission — they didn’t even have time to throw on some clothes before they were nabbed.
Speaking of Bari Weiss, it’s pretty obvious that no one at CBS, right down to the shmuck who transcribes Dokoupil’s script onto the teleprompter is particularly afraid of her. They don’t seem to have a sense that screw-ups rightly have consequences. She needs to start calling people into her office to explain why CBS no longer needs them, lest Ellison (if he’s learned anything from his Daddy) call her into his office.
I’ve worked two levels below Kathy Warden (my manager was a direct report), many years before she became CEO of Northrop Grumman. Consequently I know there are female bosses who don’t care if they are not universally beloved, as long as everyone respects them enough to do their job and do it well.
Hopefully the new Venezuela government will want him extradited back, saving us the expense of trying and jailing him here. And if he should decide to jump out of the plane over the Caribbean, well, what can you do?
I dont think they could have gone very far
Regardless this couple deserve some humiliation for what the has wrough
They have wrought
Anyone titillated by the humiliation has a moral problem.
If anyone — Freder? — is saying that they think the reason for the capture is only to humiliate... they're not thinking straight.
Ironically, Freder is displaying a taste for humiliation. Look how he words his comment: "Really?! You really believe that shit?" That is an effort to humiliate me.
Can’t wait for some hard-hitting coverage of what’s happening in Venezuela on CBS.
“We can’t air this segment until we get an interview with the winner of the FIFA peace prize.”
Kak accidentally hits on a reason why Journolist was a bad thing. Among many many other similar examples of monopoly control.
Roger Stoned 'em, with fireworks.
Are we sure it's an error in the Teleprompter writing, or Dokoupil just misreading it, thinking ahead of the scroll?
Also, how does the Teleprompter work these days? Does someone have to type the script into it by hand, or is it just a file format change? In a unionized workplace, maybe the Teleprompter Typist position is sacrosanct.
Finally, Dokoupil sounds like a big pharma product. "Embarrassed by those lesions? Ask your urologist about Dokoupil!" CC, JSM

Good grammar is a bastion of White Supremacy.
I agree with your point. Also: The headline of your previous post says "your older" when it should be "you're older."
"Kakistocracy said...

All kidding aside, isn't it said knowing that the left is seriously hoping for bad things to happen. The few leftys here will cut and paste, link, exaggerate, predict or rephrase any legitimate or fictional negative story.
Meanwhile AI says:
Following the capture of Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces on January 3, 2026, Venezuelans and supporters worldwide held large-scale celebrations marked by national anthems, dancing, and displays of patriotism.
Major Celebration Locations
Doral, Florida ("Doralzuela"): Large crowds gathered at the El Arepazo restaurant and across the city, waving Venezuelan flags, singing the national anthem, and chanting "Liberty!".
Caracas, Venezuela: In the capital, some residents took to the streets to celebrate the U.S. military operation, though reactions were mixed with apprehension.
Bogotá, Colombia: Demonstrators held a pro-U.S. rally at Bolívar Square, celebrating what they termed an "epic" milestone for the region.
International Cities: Significant gatherings occurred in Santiago (Chile), Buenos Aires (Argentina) at the Obelisk, Madrid (Spain), Lima (Peru), and New York City.
And speaking of celebratory crowds worldwide, not difficult to imagine similar joy from the left if Trump had not turned his head on July 13, 2024.
"Anyone titillated by the humiliation has a moral problem."
It has long been entirely customary for government agents to humiliate certain arrestees by "perp walking" them (note that it is not "susp walking"). I would say, that this practice is morally reprehensible, and ought not to occur. It is a form of corruption. The agents, or their superiors, are abusing their positions to punish a person who has not been convicted of a crime, for their own personal satisfaction.
But with that said, I would be overcome with a satisfaction far greater than mere "titillation" at the sight of Hillary Clinton being dragged to a prison van by her elbows. Much as I might deplore it as an abuse of power. Lock her up!
Are not pajamas most persuasive of no armed resistance?
Is not perp walk best evidence of life and mobility under own power?
Is Professora Shirley not demanding our Intel capabilities advanced enough to provide status deshabille before launching military strike??!!
Googly is known to hallucinate with ulterior motives, probably. Take a knee, stupid Anthropogenic Intelligence (AI). All your grammar is gay, and we're laughing at, not with you.
Ref the perp walk: our justice system is supposed to take place in public. When you're arrested, you're supposed to be taken before a magistrate, in a public courthouse, without unnecessary delay. So the perp walk is just a slightly early occurrence of the inevitable.
Now if your judicial system doesn't allow cameras in the courtroom, the perp walk and public release of mugshots are passive-aggressive ways around that. If you don't like the perp walk, let cameras into your courtroom. CC, JSM
Some people have a very hard time with using the right pronoun. They keep wanting to use subjective instead of objective, or, my pet peeve, use reflexive ("They gave it to myself") . It's like listening to squeaky Styrofoam (a sound much worse than nails on a chalkboard.)
CBS news, like the other legacy media news, is dying. The inbred culture they have created over 50 years won't be changed by Weiss, or anyone else. Weiss is a liberal female, and won't make a dent at CBS.
The only ones who watch legacy media are boomers, and other media types.

The full statement was “commandos grabbing he and his wife in their pajamas." Nobody explained why the commandos were in pajamas. (Say the secret word and win $100!)
I am starting to believe that over 90% of the news copy that we are exposed to is AI generated. It's why YouTube is so much better. The interesting thinkers have all been expelled from the mainstream media, even Dave Barry is on a substack.
Every news network has their B-Team working on weekends. I notice glaring mistakes on almost every Saturday & Sunday broadcast, both local and national. I’m guessing Dokoupil wanted to represent during this huge story but had to work with the CBS on duty staff rather than the more professional M-F crew.

If the he (or xe) involved was Trump, he would have been accused of grabbing his wife by the pajamas.

The secret word is ninjas.
"It wasn't about humiliating them" That was a bonus though.

I confess to watching the vid. It's not that bad.
His first sentence, or two, are incomprehensible. He's another pretty boy talking-head, but one who scored points talking slightly semi-tough in one prior televised interview.
Let he whom is without sin cast the first stone
