"The BBC 'doctored' a Donald Trump speech by making him appear to encourage the Capitol Hill riot..."

"... according to an internal whistleblowing memo seen by The Telegraph. A Panorama programme, broadcast a week before the US election, 'completely misled' viewers by showing the president telling supporters he was going to walk to the Capitol with them to 'fight like hell,' when in fact he said he would walk with them 'to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

The BBC is dead to me.

The American NBC + ABC + CNN +++ Democratic hack media did the same thing.

It’s what we’ve come to expect from a people too cowed to save their own skins.

The BBC is a branch of the British government. They are free to lie all they want about Britain and its people to the British people, but lying about foreign leaders should have foreign policy consequences.

RideSpaceMountain म्हणाले...

British rate-payers remain thrilled with the privilege. It's a reminder of auld Saxon customs like serving as foxes to King Williams hounds or some such.

Jan 6th - everyone in the Capitol crowd in black wearing masks = a fed .
an instigating FED.
Antifa were there too - taking photos.
There is a reason President Autopen pardoned the entire Jan 6th hack and fraud committee.

The good old Telegraph! The only paper that would publish Churchill for so long.

The level of antisemitism at the BBC - makes me think the Ayatollahs of Iran + Hamas, have a copy by every toilet and hole in the ground.

Why didn't Maggie Thatcher privatize the BBC ?

I never could understand why people paid the TV licence fee. I just told the inspectors to get stuffed (or something more colorful) when they came to the door.

Old/slow: I’m trying to think of a recent biopic where the subject’s dad went to absurd lengths to avoid paying the license fee, while the inspectors stalked the neighborhood with 1960s high-tech gadgets. I think his argument was that the fee applied only to BBC programming, and so he physically altered his TV so it could only get ITV. Do you know what movie I’m talking about? CC,JSM

Original Mike म्हणाले...

When he says Trump didn't face federal charges for inciting a riot, I thought Jack Smith did that.

It’s hard to watch the BBC, just like the US majors, because you have to assume they’re leaving out a bunch of stuff, even stuff that disproves their own thesis.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

But if it's for the greater good though...Cause if you think about it, they're just showing what Trump really meant and his supporters of course know what he really means, we all do, so actually the "doctored" BBC report is more accurate than the original video. Showing the original video is what would have been misleading...right?

Michael म्हणाले...

They lie and they lie and they lie. They lie so much that they've lost the ability to see and report the truth. They are a deeply toxic people.

They have a partnership with CBS to share news stories. I wonder how much CBS was involved.

The licensing authorities claim that you owe the fee even if you just watch streaming content on your computer. Like most regulations, I suspect only the middle classes are really actively pursued because they will actually pay the fine. If you simply refuse them entry to your flat, they go away and don't come back. Or at least that worked for me. Once you start cooperating with the authorities they are hard to get rid of.

I am sure the UK will classify the documents as 'top secret' and not allow reports to comment on it. They do have the 'Official Secrets Act' over there folks... UK is not a free country.

Original Mike म्हणाले...

Call me a country bumpkin, but I truly don't understand how a news organization can do such a thing. And I emphasize 'organization'. It takes a lot of people to sign off on a blatant lie.

RideSpaceMountain म्हणाले...

"...don't understand how a news organization..."

You're no bumpkin, but about your first mistake...

john mosby म्हणाले...

There’s weird stuff beyond just the fee collection issue, though. In the early aughts, a tech startup wanted to make live British TV available worldwide. They set up a TV farm: thousands of receivers, for each of which they paid the license fee. As a subscriber, you dialed in to one of these receivers. Should have been a watertight argument. Of course, the Brit PTBs said they couldn’t do that. Probably because they were already working on Britbox. Which would have beat this clunky arrangement without government assistance anyway. But socialists gotta sosh! CC, JSM

What episodes like this reveal is that they don't consider themselves to be a news organization. Because they obviously know what they are doing.

Tarrou म्हणाले...

If they had the goods on Trump, on this or any other statement, they wouldn't have to splice it up, hack the quotes, leave out context and otherwise mislead the public. If he did any of what they say he did, they'd just print that, every day. Even once, they'd print it forever. Instead we have this sloppy propaganda. It's insulting.

Wince म्हणाले...

Is this the foreign "influence operation" Brennan was taking about?

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

RideSpaceMountain म्हणाले...

This implicates choice. The BBC and NPR are paid self-sucking propaganda, specifically that you are paying to be told you suck.

Ampersand म्हणाले...

It didnt surprise me. But I find this obsession with American politics odd, given the impact of USA domestic politics on the UK is minimal. And who was the target audience, Americans in the UK who were on the fence? Leftwingers in the USA who watch the BBC?

Of course, its important that the UK conservatives/reformers are upset. BBC is owned by the Government and paid for by a tax. Its supposed to abide by standards. But as shown by its coverup of sex predators, and its obvious leftwing bias, its not.

RCOCEAN II म्हणाले...

The CBC in Canada is even more biased and dishonest. But unlike the BBC, no one cares.

1) First BBC Cut

Anyone you want, but I think right here, we're going to walk down to the Capitol, and we're going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them

2) The BBC also left this out which comes almost right after: "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

4) The second BBB cut: "And again, most people would stand there at 9 o'clock in the evening and say I want to thank you very much, and they go off to some other life. But I said something's wrong here, something is really wrong, can have happened.

And we fight. We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore. Our exciting adventures and boldest endeavors have not yet begun. My fellow Americans, for our movement, for our children, and for our beloved country.

British libel laws treat all litigants equally, which starkly contrasts with the uphill battle the plaintiff faces in an American court if said plaintiff is someone like Donald Trump. Wouldn't it be splendid if Trump spent his post-presidency taking the BBC to court in England with the aim of litigating that despicable dinosaur into extinction? He could truthfully argue that Panorama not only defamed him, it encouraged the assassination plots he and his family have faced and will face many years into the future.

Unlike the Labour Party that regards the BBC as a cosseted ally, Reform is hostile to the BBC existence as ratepayer-funded monopoly. However, the odds are the next General Election won't happen before 2029, giving Trump a golden opportunity to heap coals on Starmer's head immediately after our next Inauguration. Let's see... £100,000 million in damaged to start? That ought to encourage Parliament to cut loose Broadcasting House on purely financial grounds.

Sweetie म्हणाले...

In the US our media denies wrongdoing re. Trump's treatment altogether. If they aren't calling him Hitler everyday I think the BBC is showing restraint as compared to corporate US Media.

You know what it means if you have to doctor someone's words to make them look bad? It means they are incredibly good, possibly a saint. In other words, the opposite of you, a liar giving false witness.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

It's far worse than just telling a lie. These same people will go to great lengths to punish and try to destroy anyone who questions the lie or tries to tell the truth and they will will tell endless lies in support of the original lie and in support of the vindictive actions taken against those who won't go along with the lie or teh vindictive actions.
All this is also for the greater good.
