I see we are at the shaming stage of discourse. It's so weird to me how current the topics are but the rhetoric styles stay the same as 16th century witchhunts and mid 20th century findamentalists. The underlying sentiment is that a real man has complete control over self, and rather than sexuality being an expression of manliness, as it is considered in our era, it can be seen as a way we are pulled away and controlled. Others control our emotions and drives rather than us having power over our whole self, so we are thus subject to them, passive recipients of the temptations and the tempters. The manly thing is not to give into temptation but to overcome temptation with a consistent vision of self and mission.
Having complete control over our passions and emotions is the ultimate in expressive manliness.
