Trump ended his U.N. speech today with rhetoric that tracked his American rallies — envisioning the whole world made great again.

From the transcript (beginning at 54:12):
From London to Lima, from Rome to Athens, from Paris to Seoul, from Cairo to Tokyo, and Amsterdam to right here in New York City, we stand on the shoulders of the leaders and legends, generals and giants, heroes and titans who won and built our beloved nations, all of our nations, with their own courage, strength, spirit, and skill. Our ancestors climbed to mountains, conquered oceans, crossed deserts, and trekked over wide open plains. They charged into thunderous battles, plunged into grave dangers, and they were soldiers, and farmers, and workers, and warriors, and explorers, and patriots. They built towns into cities, tribes into kingdoms, ideas into industries, and small islands into mighty empires. You're a part of all of that.
They were champions for their people who never gave up and who never ever gave in. Their values, defined our national identities. Their visions forged our magnificent destiny. Everybody in this room is a part of it in your own way. Each of us inherits the deeds and the myths, the triumphs, the legacies of our own heroes and founders who so bravely showed us the way. Our ancestors gave everything for homelands, that they defended with pride, with sweat, with blood, with life, and with death.
Now, the righteous task of protecting the nations that they built belongs to each and every one of us. So together, let us uphold our sacred duty to our people and to our citizens. Let us protect their borders, ensure their safety, preserve their cultures, treasures, and traditions, and fight, fight, fight for their precious dreams and their cherished freedoms, and in friendship and really, a beautiful vision. Let us all work together to build a bright, beautiful planet, a planet that we all share, a planet of peace and a world that is richer, better, and more beautiful than ever before.
That can happen. It will happen. It will happen, and I hope it can happen and start right now, right at this moment. We'll turn it around. We're going to make our countries better, safer, more beautiful. We're going to take care of our people.
Thank you very much. It's been an honor. God bless the nations of the world. Thank you very much. Bye.

One almost expects "YMCA" to begin and Trump to dance. But that "bye" will need to stand in for his traditional American ending. I thought it was a great ending. I can't think of when I've heard anyone embrace the whole world like that. I mean, I can imagine what his enemies will drag in for comparison.

Great example of "Why can't we do that?" which should be the MAGA movement's motto if it ever gets tired of "MAGA."

The shithole country presidents get behind that podium and give long rambling speeches were they proclaim their doctrines and call out their opponents.

US Presidents up till Trump felt they had to show more decorum and lead by example.

Trump realizes none of the wogs and fuzzy-wuzzies follow our example, so Why Can't We Do That? - give a no holds-barred speech. So he does.

Other examples of WCWDT: controlling our borders, being proud of our heritage, etc. So much of Trump Thought comes from 80 years of watching lesser people and peoples doing things, scratching his head and thinking WCWDT. So guess what - now We Do That Too. CC, JSM

From the transcript:

Many years ago, a very successful real estate developer in New York, known as Donald J. Trump, I bid on the renovation and rebuilding of this very United Nations complex.

I remember it so well. I said at the time that I would do it for $500 million, rebuilding everything. It would be beautiful. I used to talk about, "I'm going to give you marble floors, they're going to give you terrazzo." The best of everything. "You're going to have mahogany walls, they're going to give you plastic." But they decided to go in another direction, which was much more expensive at the time, which actually produced a far inferior product. And I realized that they did not know what they were doing when it came to construction and that their building concepts were so wrong, and the product that they were proposing to build was so bad and so costly, it was going to cost them a fortune. And I said, "And wait until you see the overruns." Well, I turned out to be right. They had massive cost overruns and spent between two and $4 billion on the building and did not even get the marble floors that I promised them.

I love the guy, but save something to talk about on the golf course, Donny!

I'd never heard that story, so I'm happy he told it. The difference between President Trump and that mumblelump Biden is that Donald Trump was a successful developer who's had more wealth in any one building than most of his critics can even imagine.

Yes, of course, one almost expects "YMCA" to begin and Trump to dance. What I don't understand is why so many Trump and MAGA people now celebrate gay sex. It used to be, under Reagan and Bush, that we acknowledged that gay sex existed, but we didn't make a big deal of it. Live and let live, as people then said. But today Trump and MAGA celebrate gay sex, and even sponsor gay marriage orgies at Trump's Florida resort. They advocate gay sex orgies. What the hell has happened?

Via a YouTuber I came across an Ayn Rand quote I'd never heard before :
"Contradictions do not exist. Whenever you think that you are facing a contradiction, check your premises. You will find that one of them is wrong".

AI: This quote emphasizes that a contradiction is a sign of error in one's thinking, not a feature of reality itself. Rand believed that reality is rational and consistent, and any perceived contradiction points to a flawed premise.

Trump won’t forget. The wisest move on the part of the UN leadership would be to send the technical staff responsible for that down to the White House with the nooses already knotted around their necks, lest he conclude that the leadership was in on it.

Also unmentioned is Trump calling Vlad Putin a paper tiger. Are Ukrainian Air Force pilots going to be flying F-35s?

At least Trump has actually built things, and knows what he’s talking about. I don’t doubt that the UN building would be a lot nicer if he had been in charge. Gay marriage won out in part because the opponents were always talking about anal sex, and the supporters were talking about weddings. That still applies. If Trump makes his estate available for weddings, Mar-a-lago isn't going to discriminate. If some people assume gay weddings means sex orgies, that's their problem and bound to be thought in poor taste.

Democrats pounce! "Trump Whines About Not Getting U.N. Renovation Job." That's the New Republic. The conclusion of the speech was actually quite inspiring. Quite a contrast to Joe Biden telling us "We're the United States of America. We can do anything if we put our minds to it" and demonstrating that there was hardly anything we could manage to do.

If you cut Donald Trump's teleprompter he doesn't miss a beat and you get a one hour call out of all of the world's failures and globalist sellouts.

Prof. M. Drout చెప్పారు...

Someone at the UN thought they were being really clever by cutting the teleprompter. But instead of discomfiting Trump, the mechanical failure enabled him to turn a 15-minute written speech into a 55-minute ramble that all the assembled hacks, grifters, has-beens, and never-were's (and the <1% who are cultured and intelligent) to sit through. Ha. Ha. Ha.

TeaBagHag చెప్పారు...

Yeah, Donnie Dementia sure showed them what a doddering shitbag he is. The fact that anyone could have watched that with pride in their dear pedo leader is pretty incredible. But then again, MAGAts have shown time and time again that they worship and love the man, but not so much for their nation.

buwaya చెప్పారు...

Jim Jones was a Democratic party asset. He was deep in skulduggery with the San Francisco Dem machine of the 1970s, working directly with Moscone and Milk, organizing "flying voters", etc. For that he got consulting fees, municipal contracts, and federal & state grants. He amassed a following because he could pay off a horde of (mostly) ex-addicts and homeless, who depended on him for their livelihood as much as he depended on them for political influence.
Talbot, "Season of the Witch"

buwaya చెప్పారు...

Re Jim Jones, I hung out at that time (80s- early 90s) with SF Republicans, who were of the old Barbagelata faction. They had all the dirt, much of which ended up in Talbots book. Not that any of it was secret, it was just inconvenient to put it in the newspapers, as all the Democrats of the day, still, 10-15 years later, carried the taint of Jim Jones.

buwaya చెప్పారు...

That sort of "community organizer" is typical of US urban politics. It is the Jim Jones system of political corruption, albeit lacking (most) of the personality cult aspect.

TeaBagHag చెప్పారు...

Thank you for the history lesson.
Did Jim Jones hold elected office, have everything he touched turn to shit, appoint incompetent sycophants to every cabinet position, use the Oval Office to grift billions for his business?
If he did, I would expect his cult to stick with him until the sweet sticky end. Like MAGAts stick with their man. THATS the parallel that I’m drawing attention to. But yes the Republican Party freed the slaves and the Nazis we’re socialists…..

Kevin చెప్పారు...

That said, civil unions for all consenting adults.

What, no furries? You bigot!

buwaya చెప్పారు...

Lift up the covers of the Democratic party, anywhere, and you will find an ocean of this shit. The CA Dem party, even outside of big cities, is really a criminal conspiracy, and I dont suppose the pattern is different in other states. In his day Willie Brown was happy to admit it. He was of course untouchable, the local MSM treated him as an amusing rascal. He was "too cute to prosecute" - I dont remember if that was Willie or Herb Caen. Behind the deliberately outrageous humor was the truth, of course, Willie couldnt help laying it out. There is a sort-of honest man inside Willie Brown.

Jim at చెప్పారు...

Why are you even responding to that gash?

buwaya చెప్పారు...

If you want a quick estimate of the relative degree of political corruption in a US state, look at their electricity rates. In the continental US there aren't really natural obstacles to power generation, or there haven't been for a long time. These rates are determined entirely by political policies that create local cost structures, because someone wants to feed off artificially raised costs.
CA - 33.5 cents/kwh
NY - 26.18
IL - 18.33
TX - 16.28
Etc - https://www.eia.gov/electricity/monthly/epm_table_grapher.php?t=epmt_5_6_a

I’ve always found that green tile behind the UN podium hideous.

buwaya చెప్పారు...

"That’s fascinating"
It should be.
Independent metrics are uncommon and valuable, if taken seriously.
That assumes goodwill and honesty of course.

buwaya చెప్పారు...

My career in CA energy infrastructure (US energy really) taught me a great deal about relative standards of goodwill and honesty.

TeaBagHag చెప్పారు...

I believe you really know how much greed and criminality inherent in our political system. And yet, here you are shilling for a child rapist and the biggest conman, grifter we’ve ever seen in the Oval Office.

buwaya చెప్పారు...

An electric bill is a simple, but brilliant, condensation of a complex reality. It cuts through all sorts of irrelevant verbiage, of feelings that dont matter, of hysteria and unreal fantasies.
It is in its way an unanswerable judgement on entire societies.

TeaBagHag చెప్పారు...

Ok, maybe we can take those pregnant with meaning electric bills that you’re so keen on, and use them to patch up the constitution, after this administration finishes tearing it to shreds.

buwaya చెప్పారు...

There are all sorts of constitutions and non-constitutions, styles of politics and styles of rhetoric, various breeds of sacred cows, and etc. I'm not American, my heritage is from several countries, I like looking at things from a few miles above the atmosphere. From up here a US President matters only to a limited degree. There are many millions of you, and it is better to consider that your leadership is an effect, not a cause. All of these countries have electric bills though :)

Leland చెప్పారు...

Don Quixote is comedic in parts. However it is much deeper than that, it is a satire of contemporary society, and of humanity in general, and a tragedy. Sancho is a lot of things.
