So I am noticing that the left is nearing a psychotic break. Consider the new info being released about the ICE shooter who missed and killed some aliens instead. The vast majority of leftists seem to be completely ignoring or actively discounting any evidence at all that the ICE guy was one of them. "It's a hoax!" or "Bondi wrote the note and used the sharpie!" and the like.
How can we inhabit a country when one side is simply unable to accept facts?

So in the midst of all this lawfare, I would like to restate an idea I had about a year ago, for the President to effectively "pardon" people from State crimes. For example, Chauvin or Giuliani:
1. Direct appoint the guy as a military officer (for O-1 thru O-3, Senate confirmation is not needed).
2. Assign him to some kind of Pentagon think tank, like the old Office of Net Assessment.
3. Get a court order to take custody of the guy from state prison, in order to carry out his military duties.
4. Because the guy is on active duty, any civil actions against him get halted by the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act.
Note I said "effective" pardon, not actual pardon. But it would last at least until 2029. And if Vance or even DeSantis is 48, then it could last four or eight years beyond that. And a lot of things could happen between now and 2037. Older defendants might not be around anymore. States could turn red. Etc.

BBC reports An escalator used by Donald Trump abruptly stopped because of a safety mechanism that had been triggered by his videographer, the United Nations has said.
The videographer had been travelling backwards up the escalator to capture the US president's arrival with First Lady Melania Trump and "may have inadvertently triggered the safety function" upon reaching the top, a UN spokesperson said.
Trump jokingly referred to the incident during his Tuesday speech at the UN building, saying: "If the First Lady wasn't in great shape, she would've fallen."
The White House had raised concerns that someone deliberately stopped the escalator as the couple were stepping on.
"If someone at the U.N. intentionally stopped the escalator as the President and First Lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt posted on X after the incident.
Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for UN Secretary General António Guterres, said the videographer reached the top of the escalator as the president and first lady mounted the steps at the bottom.
"At that moment (09:50am), the escalator came to a stop," Dujarric said.
A readout of the machine's central processing unit "indicated that the escalator had stopped after a built-in safety mechanism on the comb step was triggered at the top of the escalator", he added.
The White House has not yet commented on the UN's findings.
After the escalator snafu, Trump ran into more technical difficulties as he began his speech to the UN General Assembly.
He opened by saying the teleprompter was not working - although it was restored towards the end of his address.
"I can only say that whoever's operating this teleprompter is in big trouble," he said.
A UN official later told the BBC the White House was operating the teleprompter at the time, bringing their own laptops and plugging them into the UN's system.

How to demonstrate that you know nothing about Moldova: Anyone who knows three things about the place knows that it is one of the poorest countries in Europe, that it has one of the largest diasporas (percentage of citizens living abroad) in the world, and that a large slice of it, so-called "independent" Transnistria, has been illegally occupied by Russia since independence.
Like most countries, including the US, Moldova allows citizens living abroad to vote in elections back home. Those who choose to live in the west are naturally more inclined to vote for pro-Western parties. It they didn't like the West, they probably wouldn't live there. (Exceptions to that rule are almost all Muslims.)
In short, there is absolutely nothing sinister about overseas voters voting (on the whole) differently from those at home. American voters do that all the time, though I don't believe there have ever been enough of them to make the difference in one of our elections.

As for mailed ballots having no "chain of custody", a glance at the Wikipedia article on last year's presidential election in Moldova mentions "polling places" in four cities in Germany, in Northampton and Liverpool, and says that the one in Moscow was inside the Moldovan embassy. In other words, the ballots were not just dropped in the mail and did in fact have a chain of custody. Why didn't Achilles do his homework? As A. E. Housman once put it, "Three minutes thought would suffice to find this out; but thought is irksome and three minutes is a long time."
The article also mentions massive amounts of what looked like Russian interference, including bomb threats at six named polling places in Germany and the UK (the reason they were mentioned). I find it odd that Achilles and Jaq are always worried about NATO interference in elections, but perfectly fine with Russian interference. It certainly makes it look like they are the stooges of a foreign power, not I.

It’s a shame that the FBI agent count is just now coming to light. All those agents knew, but none exposed the caper. Hundreds of people spent time in jail, lost their life savings, were left destitute. I suppose Patel has uncovered some info that forces this exposure. I imagine these agents feared for their jobs, but some things are worth losing your job for.
Let’s hope an indictment of Wray is forthcoming.

Ukrainian borders were not "mostly set" (weasel words) but in fact set, by treaty, in 1991, and reaffirmed in 1994, in documents signed by the former colonial power, Russia. What other regimes may have used similar borders in the past is utterly irrelevant. I remember at the time watching videos from Bagdhad, where the people were out in the street watching the cruise missiles fly by a few yards overhead, absolutely confident that they were heading for military targets and they themselves were in no danger.

Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish are so similar they are (linquistically) dialects of a single language, but that doesn't give any of the three the right to invade the others. That would be moronic! Nor does Czechia have any right to invade Slovakia, or Serbia to invade Croatia.
