The most recent post is about "The Cosby Show."
And the only other post... well, I've got to shoehorn it in, but think about it. Everybody into the Oval Office. Maybe you think that's not funny, but I was raised on "Dr. Strangelove."

Sitcom theme - DJT has themes of all Gilligan's Island characters. Discuss.
Actually, you could probably make a funny TV show starring Trump and his innner circle. But Trump is too busy being POTUS to star in it - and no one else could be cast. Maybe after 2028.
Chris Christie could be the buffoon everyone snarks at. Pence could be the uptight, religious guy who wont unbend. Joe Biden could wander in as the old coot who has no filter and makes funny exaggerated remarks. Hillary could be the bitchy villian and Trump's arch nemisis.
It's supposed to be FOUR things.
You can’t draw Venn diagrams here - this is the Oval Office!

Ms. NOW has debuted.
NOW is the National Organization for Women. MSNBC has renamed itself Ms. NOW.
This is the worst sit-com on television.
People saying "in the Oval" when they mean "in the Oval Office" make me wonder what presidents do in there. Play football with Australians?
Maybe Trump's last improvement will be to turn the Oval into an Octagon. Politics is the ultimate fighting challenge after all.
Non sequitur here but I am wondering, Ann, if you could blog an incredibly sad article in today's times by a mother writing about her 29 year old daughter's suicide, the daughter having sought counsel from a ChatGPT application called "Harry." I would never want to criticize a grieving mother, but in reading the article, and looking at some background information on the daughter and her family, it seemed to me the mother's thesis is completely wrong in the way we are increasingly wrong about mental illness. In the telling, ChatGPT appears to have tried to soothe, to recommend treatment, to try to say the right things at the right time. The girl confided her suicidal ideation to ChatGPT but not a human therapist. Ultimately, she appears to have told her parents but then sought to reassure them she was motivated to live. In other words, she was a trickster to others (except the algorithm) but ultimately not to herself. Looking at her bio, she had at age 29, when people were once meant to be settling down and beginning a life for others like children, she was doing a "mini-retirement" to vagabond around. It turns out her father is a professor of psychology and her mother a journalist. So my question, per Abigail Schrier I guess, is do we need to stop sympathizing with some people's depression and instead tell them to get the F*** out of their own heads and start thinking about others? I fear this girl was not a victim of ChatGPT but of a therapeutic culture that does not provide enough tough love.
Just watched a promotional video for the new sitcom “Leanne,” starring stand up comedy success Leanne Morgan. She said she was nervous as all get out, wondering if she could possibly pull this off, when she got a supportive call from Jerry Seinfeld. He asked her to consider how few television shows were named after the star and take that as evidence that the creators knew what they were doing when the made a show for her.
can we haz a funny standup comedy, as we had in the 90s with Friends, everything has to be on Netflix or Hulu
In '63, we had Cosby's first album. Was funny.
