This is ridiculous. My first introduction to quiet clapping was in the early 2000s at my child’s school. I volunteered in the library every week. The librarian would talk to the kids at the beginning of their library time and during that time any approval from the children was to be expressed with quiet clapping. It didn’t matter if it was finger claps or duck claps it just had to be quiet.
I can’t read the article so I can’t determine who might be appropriating from whom. My mother would say that it appears there are some that have a problem with sharing and also that there is more than one way to skin a cat.
It's tick tock, not tick tick a nit. Either way, its days are numbered.

You know what, if there are influencers out there to tell you what to think and do, and those influencers are getting rich. And you listen to them knowing that they are just using you, you are an idiot.
Bizarre vogue for snapping fingers to show approval rather than clapping. Clearly an idea of those who don't have arthritis and can't conceive of ever getting it. Finger snapping may not be so easy for everyone. Even seals can clap.
I'm old enough to remember when doing "the world's tiniest violin" was pretty much the same gesture as "you're a jerkoff."

I kind of hate the sound of applause so I like this trend now that I think about it.I particularly hate the sound of applause on musical performances recorded live where they leave the sound on the recording that they make for those of us who are trying to listen to music through headphones. It’s obnoxious.
