Many of you may remember a few weeks ago, when I described my travails in DC Superior Court. Thanks once again to everyone who contributed to my legal defense fund.
I have created a change.org petition, and unlike givesendgo, this way to support me is free:
https://chng.it/Fwbq9zrGDG
(I don’t know why they use an Italian domain, either)
Don’t be confused by the donation form on the page - that is for supporting change.org in general, not me, and it is optional. You can sign for free.
You can also keep your signature off the public site, but of course when the petition is turned in, all the names will be visible, just like a paper petition.
If you’re comfortable with that, I certainly would appreciate your help. And if you can pass the link along in your networks, I would appreciate that even more.
Based on Trump’s press conference today announcing his takeover of the Metropolitan Police of DC, one would think his administration supports aggressive action against miscreants like the subway dancers.
I think that Donald Trump is serious about dealing with (or trying to deal with) the DC crime problem. Washington mayor Muriel Bowser complains that the city needs more police, but back in 2020 she allowed the BLM rioters to paint “DEFUND THE POLICE” in block capitals the entire width of a street near the White House. When some pranksters with a can of paint changed the sign to “DEFEND THE POLICE” she got quite bent out of shape.
It does not help that DC judges take a “kids will be kids” attitude towards teenaged criminals that come before them. But attempted murder is not a “kids will be kids” sort of crime.
I read an excellent suggestion on an action Trump should consider: given Canada’s support for Palestinian statehood. Perhaps Trump should throw his support behind recognizing the independence of Alberta and Quebec.
Vacation is apparently a good time to scout for watch parts what are scarce as hen’s teeth. Found a naked Waltham 6/0 B in good condition, what appears to be a Movado 475 in less good condition but says the balance is good. Now if I can ever find a brass pin for the collet on the cushion case Rolex that’s been idle I’ll have my hopeful parts trays mostly cleared out…
Mike, I think it’s worth looking at the full picture here. The “DEFUND THE POLICE” addition in 2020 wasn’t something Bowser ordered — it was added by protesters to the “Black Lives Matter” mural the city had commissioned, and the city later removed it. It’s fair to debate her approach to policing, but I’m not sure that moment tells us much about the current crime situation. And on that, the numbers show DC’s violent crime is at a 30-year low and down another 26% this year, so calling this an emergency is a bit hard to square with the data. On the judges, I’m not aware of evidence showing a broad “kids will be kids” approach to serious felonies like attempted murder — most juvenile systems, DC’s included, detain suspects in those cases.
I get the point about wanting a safer city — we can all agree on that — but I think we do better when we base the discussion on what’s actually happening now, rather than a mix of old events and generalized impressions.
A vacation ranch in Montana had a bunch of Japanese businessmen visit. They were all decked out in new western kit and marveled at everything ranch with the refrain ‘very authentic!’. The horses, the Wednesday rodeo- ‘very authentic!’. One stepped in manure and yep ‘Verrrrry Authentic!’…
Judge Paul Engelmayer has rejected Todd Blanche’s bid to unseal Ghislaine Maxwell grand jury materials because Blanche was lying when he insinuated there’d be anything of substantial public interest. With the Government having now conceded that the information it proposes to release is redundant of the public record—that this information was made publicly available at Maxwell’s trial or has otherwise been publicly reported—the public interest in testing the Government’s bona fides does not require the extraordinary step of unsealing grand jury records.
Blanche's motion was three-and-a-half pages in length; there were no supporting materials filed, under seal or otherwise; the motion did not disclose or reflect awareness of the summary-witness nature of the Maxwell grand jury testimony; and the motion was made without advance notice to Epstein’s and Maxwell’s victims.
This was a stunt. Now exposed as a stunt. What’s next? Rounding up and locking away the homeless in DC? Cosplaying a diplomat by meeting with Putin in Sarah Palin’s backyard? Ordering tech companies and universities to fire their CEOs? Making Missouri’s favorite auctioneer and former IRS commissioner, Billy Long, the ambassador to Iceland? Putting 120 FBI agents on patrol duty after dark since Friday in DC in connection with an " assault" of former DOGE staffer Edward "Big Balls" Coristine and his girlfriend during an alleged carjacking earlier this month by two arrested but unarmed black suspects, a 15-year-old male and a 15-year-old female?
Kak/Richsockpuppet/paidActbluetroll and Gadflyisopenforlittleboys are upset because Epstein files stay sealed by order of ::checks notes:: an Obama judge.
Ronald J. Ward: "the numbers show DC’s violent crime is at a 30-year low"? Really?

Crude, but the fact is that the official numbers are incredible.
Besides the fabrication of data: if you never arrest people and try them on the charges for the crimes, they actually commit, of course dad will show crime is improving. Any idiot who watches the news knows they don’t convict people anymore for the crimes that they are really committing. Therefore the statistics are skewed and we all know it.

seems to be some confusion, or rather some people actually believe the numbers put out by DC mayor et al on crime/ No it isn't down, it is up DC homicide rate was 4th highest in20 24, 2 7.3 homicides per 100,00 That rate is 6 times higher than NYC 4 times higher than LA DC also had higher rates than Chicago, Compton, ca. In 2024, Washington, D.C. experienced a significant decrease in crime, with overall violent crime down 35% compared to 2023, including a 32% drop in homicides.
Sadly, neither untrained National Guard troops nor high-paid FBI investigators represent the right choices to supplement trained cops in the streets.

“The greatest lawlessness I ever saw in DC was on January 6, 2021. Trump incited and directed a violent insurrection. Trump issued no order to the National Guard to intervene and later pardoned the perpetrators.”
Sure. Trump didn’t order the DCNG to intervene. He merely requested them multiple times, starting two days before. Turns out the person blocking the Capital Police’s repeated frantic requests for them was none other than Speaker Palzy’s hand picked flunky. They couldn’t find her, because she was being tailed around by her daughter videorecording her all afternoon, as her plot to destroy Trump was coming to fruition.
Most likely see CPI in tomorrows report move Above 3% and head toward 3-4 till end of 2025 and then come down.So maybe COLA will raise from 2.6 projection even higher(but probably not) prices continue to rise especially Cocoa and Braziill with coffee I believe already up 13% before you pay for trumps tariffs. oh and please have trump release the EPSTEIN FILES on Bondis desk. we know he flew 8x on the plane to hell and Clinton only 4 (written in the records not trumps magnificent lies Lets go lets see em..The fake look over hear release the grand jury deal is theater, you should know its the norm not to release them and there is nothing new in them its just more deception Release the freakin files its boring watching trump try every deception now the guard, to stop the chatter..TACO DOES China AGAIN 90 DAYS china does not pay the US anything YOU PAY FOR IT wake up...
“In 2024, Washington, D.C. experienced a significant decrease in crime, with overall violent crime down 35% compared to 2023, including a 32% drop in homicides.”
If the police don’t arrest anyone, and if arrested, don’t serve time, then no statistics showing crime in DC.
It’s really pathetic when you repeat nonsense debunked earlier in the same thread.
“Sadly, neither untrained National Guard troops nor high-paid FBI investigators represent the right choices to supplement trained cops in the streets.”
Yes, and heavily armed LEOs on the streets in a show of force have never intimidated crooks enough to take a low profile until they were gone?
And, it isn’t just the FBI putting agents on the DC streets, but also from other agencies, including, importantly, ICE.
Strangely, no Alaskan location has been announced for the Putin-Trump summit and Putin has not responded to Trump's Truth Social announcement. But today, Trump, on two occasions, told the press that they were meeting in Russia.
Alaska may be on Trump's demented mind because Russia colonized Alaska back in the 17th or 18th century, so that land swap Trump is talking about to shutdown the Ukraine war might be Arctic Alaska where offshore basins of oil and gas have been found. No - far too complex for Trump to imagine and American oligarchs would never approve but the idea is certainly illegal enough to consider.
One thing about that second picture: I am not crouching down to get a more interesting point of view. I'm standing upright with the camera at eye level. The flowers are that tall, quite above my head (and I'm 5'5").
I tend to do a sunrise run/walk and then a second walk, and it's important to me to have a shady walk, and this is the one stretch of full sun. I tend to power through it to get out of the sun. (I don't slather on sunblock. I avoid the sun by choosing the time and place.) Meade even commented on my stopping, as if I was being untrue to principles that had kept me from stepping to the side for other people instead of perceiving the path as 2-way and continuing apace.
I don't mean to do an authenticity watch every day. The practice is to notice when there is a strong "authenticity" entry and then to go searching for whatever else might be out there. The Mamet quote is a very strong candidate that, if I'd seen it, would have caused me to do an authenticity-watch post. But now I've seen it and it's not too late to make it the basis of a post. I was planning to blog that essay, after seeing it in the evening and not being in the mood to blog. I'm pretty well set in my way of blogging in the morning.
Arrived in Europe after an overnight flight. No WiFi on the plane, despite advertising to the contrary, so just now responding to Ronald J. Ward.
First, I lived in, or in a suburb of, DC almost continuously from 1969 until 2016, so I know whereof I speak. DC has become dangerous, particularly to white folks (do young black people still display their racism by calling us “honkies” and “ofay”?).
I think we can stipulate the Muriel Bowser was not involved in painting the original “DEFUND THE POLICE,” but if you do some basic research — and discuss it honestly — you’ll have to agree that Bowser was publicly upset when the sign was changed to “DEFEND THE POLICE.” and she did order it changed back.
And, of course, we now know with 100% certainty that the statistics, as reported by the DC police, are and have been utterly bogus. Crime is up, not down.
As to Bowser and the DC police they have 3100 officers, and are budgeted for 4000. That is a 22.5% shortfall. If you think her support for “Defund the Police” then what is the color of the sky on whatever planet you live on?
When you airily write that you are “not aware of evidence showing a broad ‘kids will be kids’ approach to serious felonies,” well, I am.
The greatest lawlessness I ever saw in DC was on January 6, 2021. Trump incited and directed a violent insurrection. Trump issued no order to the National Guard to intervene and later pardoned the perpetrators.
Actually, it was September 30, 2011.
That's when Barack Obama murdered an American citizen.
This is the only person that the United States military has ever been ordered to murder by a US President. I say murder because there was no due process afforded to that American citizen. They were not charged with any crime. They were not given an attorney. They were never tried by a jury. They were never sentenced.
Barack Obama remains the only US president to ever perpetuate the murder of an American citizen with no due process - in utter contempt for the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. In a just society, he would be arrested, tried and given the death penalty for his murderous action.
Remember that the next time the Democrats start braying about due process. They don't give a flying rat's fuck about it.
The most critical moment in recent history was Trump’s 2018 Helsinki meeting with Putin. During the summit, Trump appeared to side with Putin over his own intelligence agencies, accepting Russia’s claim that it did not interfere in the 2016 U.S. election. To emphasize this stance, Trump proposed a joint U.S.-Russia cybersecurity task force focused on election integrity—an idea akin to entrusting a wolf with the welfare of sheep. The domestic backlash was so intense that Trump was forced to abandon the plan.
However, Trump’s domestic position is far stronger now than in 2018. At the time, then--DNI Dan Coats publicly defended US intelligence agencies after Helsinki. Today, Trump’s DNI is Tulsi Gabbard, who recently claimed that a Russia-related 2016 election plot did exist—but alleged it was orchestrated by Barack Obama and the so-called deep state to prevent Trump from taking office. It is highly unlikely that any jury would convict Obama, Joe Biden, or other alleged “conspirators” of such an outlandish charge. Nevertheless, Gabbard’s statement served its purpose: deflecting attention from the controversy surrounding Trump’s refusal to release the Epstein files.
Putin’s second advantage is Trump’s lack of knowledge. At the Yalta Conference, Franklin Roosevelt had advisors like Harry Hopkins, yet Joseph Stalin still achieved his objectives. In contrast, Trump relies on Steve Witkoff. After Witkoff’s first meeting with Putin in March, Trump’s envoy was unaware of which Ukrainian oblasts Putin claims sovereignty over. Five months later, Witkoff still appears confused. Dealmaking bluster cannot replace substantive knowledge.
Theodore Roosevelt famously advised US presidents to “speak softly and carry a big stick.” Trump, however, has been speaking loudly while wielding a weak hand. Putin has strong reasons to be optimistic ahead of their meeting on Friday.
Dr. Weevil, I’m sure someone on Twitter (a classic ad hominem by proxy) might say otherwise, but the ‘crime wave’ claim simply doesn’t hold water under the actual data. What remains is a political maneuver—dressed up as public safety—to chip away at self-governance in yet another Democratic-led, majority-Black city, while sending a warning to others that don’t fit his political mold.
Trump is deploying 800 National Guard Troops to patrol DC because of the massive violent crime increase.
Meanwhile, violent crime in D.C. has been declining for the last year and a half after spiking in 2023. So far this year, robberies have dropped by 28% and overall violent crime is down 26%, as of Aug. 11. Last year, violent crime in the capital city hit its lowest level in more than 30 years, the Justice Department said.
@lonejustice. Have you sourced where the stats where come from? It’s from the DC police dept. Considering the DC police dept just canned/ suspended one of their own for fudging the numbers I think I’d be a bit skeptical, don’t ya think?
Maynard, classic loaded accusation—framing any opposition to Trump’s authoritarian move and fabricated ‘crime wave’ as opposition to safety itself is a false dichotomy. And the timing? Hard to miss. With skyrocketing prices, rising unemployment, and a poor jobs report, along with those nagging Epstein files that just won’t go away, it’s almost like this couldn’t wait, say… two weeks
FLC: “ This is the only person that the United States military has ever been ordered to murder by a US President. I say murder because there was no due process afforded to that American citizen. ”
Abe Lincoln killed a bunch of US citizens without due process. And sometimes he treated them as citizen criminals, but other times as foreign belligerents, as it suited his war aims.
Much as I disagree with almost everything the Bama did, I have to agree that once you’ve made the decision to kill combatants, you don’t have to check for passports or drivers licenses.
These pictures look like the photos that show the detectives the last place the missing person was seen. Proceed further at your own risk as there maybe portals to another dimension. § Harry Hopkins may have been playing for the other team. Apparently Alger Hiss and Harry Dexter White were. FDR was ill and in as bad a shape as Joe Biden.
New inflation data is worse than you think Core inflation rose at an annualized rate of 3.1% in July, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced on Tuesday, as President Donald Trump's nonsensical tariffs led to rising prices. The current topline figure is 2.7% This is .2 percentage points higher than the previous month’s figure. That 3.1% annualized rate is the fastest rising inflation rate in five months, and higher than the 2.9% annualized rate BLS clocked in July 2024, according to The For two years inflation was declining toward the [Federal Reserve Bank’s] target. That seems to be over. We realize most is that the July inflation data was gathered before Trump’s reciprocal tariffs went into effect in August. Trump, for his part, has been wrongly claiming that foreign governments are paying the ridiculous tariffs he's levied on some of the United States' largest trading partners, and has been cheering the tariff revenue flowing into the Treasury Department's coffers. Yet it's actually the companies that import goods who pay the levies, which then pass the increase onto consumers.(MAGAS stick their fingers in their ears and you know where their head goes! Indeed, some of the largest increases were for items that are almost universally imported. For example, the BLS report said coffee—primarily imported from Colombia and Brazil that now face massive Trump-imposed tariffs—rose a whopping 14.5% since July 2024. Trump's tariffs are also making furnishing homes much more expensive, with window and floor coverings rising a massive 7.2% since July 2024; living room, kitchen, and dining furniture—which largely comes from Vietnam and China—rising 7.6%; and beef—which is also imported from Brazil—climbing 11.3%. Core CPI inflation has climbed above 3%. The Trump tariff policy is a self-inflicted wound that keeps on inflicting American consumers. Trump was handed a stable economy. We expected them to screw up either the labor market, prices, or growth. I didn't expect them to fumble all three. Trump has yet to comment on the inflation report. However, when the July jobs report showed that there was barely any job growth since he announced his moronic tariffs, he said the data was fake and fired the BLS director. He now has nominated an unqualified, Project 2025 hack to be the new BLS director—calling into question whether any future economic data from the statistics agency will be accurate. Tell the Magas anything as long as trump says it, they are in lock stock and barrell. The STABLE GENIUS shows his colors ALL THE TIME..Trump will LIE says its FAKE and put out his own numbers and MAGAS will go WOW that's wonderful! George Orwell wrote all down long time ago..

And now you are like the rich man who has amassed so much, whom Jesus called a fool.... You know that one? Got a BIble in that big house, annie? ;-)
Pictures are sublime. Bottom near perfect. AND, no distracting zit in sight! :-)
The radio news said that Trump called out the vaginal guard.
Kaka said: “ The greatest lawlessness I ever saw in DC was on January 6, 2021. Trump incited and directed a violent insurrection.”
An absolute lie. How does it feel to have your statements instantaneously refuted?
Strangely, no Alaskan location has been announced for the Putin-Trump summit and Putin has not responded to Trump's Truth Social announcement.
This isn’t a 2024 Democratic Presidential Campaign rally. They don’t need to have a crowd. It is ok when they do it.
I think we do better when we base the discussion on what’s actually happening now
Then you should do better.

You know what would make those stats climb? Releasing the Epstein files.
"Kak" is a funny way to spell Chuck. Also, very inauthenic.
@lonejustice. Have you sourced where the stats where come from? It’s from the DC police dept. Considering the DC police dept just canned/ suspended one of their own for fudging the numbers I think I’d be a bit skeptical, don’t ya think?
The Commies in America's largest teachers union have decided to whitewash the Jews from the Holocaust.
I cannot believe these people are teaching our children. School choice cannot get here fast enough.
Isn't it predictable that the lefties in this site would crawl out of their holes to argue against keeping the citizens of DC safe?
When it comes to 80/20 issues, you guys are really out there.

Harry Hopkins may have been playing for the other team. Apparently Alger Hiss and Harry Dexter White were. FDR was ill and in as bad a shape as Joe Biden.
New inflation data is worse than you think
Core inflation rose at an annualized rate of 3.1% in July, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced on Tuesday, as President Donald Trump's nonsensical tariffs led to rising prices. The current topline figure is 2.7% This is .2 percentage points higher than the previous month’s figure. That 3.1% annualized rate is the fastest rising inflation rate in five months, and higher than the 2.9% annualized rate BLS clocked in July 2024, according to The
For two years inflation was declining toward the [Federal Reserve Bank’s] target.
George Orwell wrote all down long time ago..
and discuss it honestly
And that's the problem with Ronald J. Ward. He's incapable of discussing anything honestly.
Add him to the Scroll List.
I think I’d be a bit skeptical, don’t ya think?
What, and have him forego another opportunity to shit NeverTrump crap all over the thread?
Please.
