I was splashed by a car while I was walking post-rain this morning. I don't think the driver did it on purpose -- it was part of the morning rush to the Hospital, so the ability of a car to vary in its lane is severely compromised. Glad it was warm out.

“Convicted child sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell has reportedly been cleared to leave prison on work release.”
What could she have done to get this sweetheart deal? Will she disappear on one of her work days, never to be seen again? How is it that a sex offender receives such treatment?
“What stands out here is the custody level “OUT”, which allows her to leave the minimum security campus for work assignments; much like Jeffrey Epstein was allowed to leave prison as part of the sweetheart deal he got from Alex Acosta that was penned by Alan Dershowitz. I do not have any confirmation that she has worked outside the facility. Sex offenders are not allowed to take assignments outside the facility, just as they are not supposed to be moved to a minimum security camp.
I do not have information or communications about the decision or the reasons behind it, but that has been demanded in a Freedom of Information Act request filed by Democracy Forward.”
I suspect that these FOIA request results may get very interesting.
Trump decided today that he would not put a tariff on gold. This should come as a huge relief to all of his working class MAGA supporters who struggle to live paycheck by paycheck.
The judge doesn’t have anything to do with the massive amount of files that were on Bondi’s desk. Release those. Here’s what the judge said…
“Its entire premise — that the Maxwell grand jury materials would bring to light meaningful new information about Epstein's and Maxwell's crimes, or the Government's investigation into them — is demonstrably false," Engelmayer wrote.
He said the materials provide no new insight into Epstein or Maxwell clients, nor new information about the venue, new sources of their wealth, or the circumstances of Epstein's death.

One is called The New Victorian Inn. It is located about a quarter-mile from a Nebraska State Patrol location.
And hearty “Welcome back” to the Texas fleebaggin’ Democrats
Interesting. If course I can’t find straight facts on what’s happening- MSM saying they kinda sorta agree to come back maybe if we get what we want but we’ll stay away and/or bolt again if the Republicans don’t meet our demands. Hopefully some consequences will be suffered by the perps if it continues…
It would seem if state laws are being broken flight risk would compel all sorts of forcible attendance or removal strategies. Is anyone still interested in threats of those things?
The biggest consequence is a judge upheld the law that the Democrats can’t fundraise their fine. Robert Francis O’Rourke offered what is being described as a bribe to get the legislature to stay away. That could be illegal. Without illicit funding, they can’t afford to play these games.
@gadlfy and a variation on Blue-Tail Fly lyrics: I don't get your point. Are you suggesting this is the apotheosis of creativity in addressing racial politics? Here's a nomination from Ice-T:
Cop killer, yeah!
I got my black shirt on I got my black gloves on I got my ski mask on This shit's been too long I got my twelve gauge sawed off I got my headlights turned off I'm 'bout to bust some shots off I'm 'bout to dust some cops off

Fuck the police! Fuck the police! Fuck the police! Fuck the police!
My favorite overnight video came courtesy of the Hugh Hewitt show. The video shows a reporter yesterday asking the DC Chief of Police, standing next to mayor Bowser, what the federal takeover means to her place in the "chain of command." Her response is a dumbfound look followed with, "What does that mean?"
As Kurt Schlichter (sitting in for Hugh) asked, "How can you be the top cop and not know what the term 'chain of command' means?"
Ladies and gents, I present to you the DC Police DEI hire, Pamela Smith.
How is it that a sex offender receives such treatment?
Because anywhere leftists control the system they work out easy deals for perves. Just like in California, where the groomers run the legislature. You should get out more. She's already spent more time in prison than the typical rapist in democrat run system, and if she's served her time WTF do you care? You never wrote anything here about Epstein until Biden was safely out of the way.
Even CNN reported that less than 2% of the public gives a fuck about the dead democrat perv Epstein and which democrat perv creeps he serviced. For your sake I hope we do learn every single secret the guy kept. But for now the only value this story has is riling up the 2% you belong to: crazy democrat trump haters.
Lem I am greatly comforted by the fact Pam Bondi has 100% hire and fire authority over the DC Metro Police. I don't think many DEI hires like Pamela will be left on the payroll by September. I see Bondi assigned the top guy at the DEA as temporary head of the Federal effort already.
“ As Kurt Schlichter (sitting in for Hugh) asked, "How can you be the top cop and not know what the term 'chain of command' means?"
I think the top cop was terrified when she heard the word “chain”, harkening back to Joe Biden accusing the R’s of “wanting to put y’all back in chains”.
Texas Democrats were never going to stop the vote rigging (and yes, gerrymandering is vote rigging regardless of the party doing it) and they knew it.
They didn’t have the votes to block it so their walkout was a delay process to bring media attention to it. In political terms, it was a strategy to shift the fight from the legislative floor—where they were outnumbered—to the court of public opinion, where exposure to the vote rigging would hopefully have a larger impact.
I heard on the radio this morning that the Feds (military?) are setting up a force to be sent at a moments notice to quell disturbances that may pop up in cities across the country. Knowing the chain of command is going to be crucial.
Inga what exactly do you think Trump has that he can lawfully release about Epstein? This is the same question I pose every time "Epstein Files" rears it's amorphous head. No straight answer has ever been offered by our resident lefties. But I would like to know the answer anyway.
Anyone here, feel free to answer if you have one.
I can think of "files" the "government" might "have" but they are all prohibited by law from being released unless people named are going to be charged.
RJW Well, they shouldn't have run to Illinois. The countrys best example of gerrymandering. You guys set the bar. The republicans are just playing by your rules. So quit complaining.
Mattress Mack in Houston has offered all season to repay all mattresses purchased up to 10,000 if the Astros win 10 straight. He does this routinely now, and it is smart advertising and risk management. Rather than pay insurance to cover the cost, he places an actual bet that the Astros will win 10 games in a row at the beginning of the season. The odds are then the same for him and the buyers. If he wins the bet, he gets the money to pay his customers. If he loses, then the cost of the bet is about the same for insurance, and certainly cheap marketing costs.
Alas, the Astros just added their Closer to the injury list. That's 5 pitchers on the IL (including 3 starters and 1 closer), the season opener 2B, 3B, LF, and CF starters, plus another RF. How bad is it? In last night's 14-1 loss to Boston, the Astro's manager had an outfielder pitch the final inning. The Astros lost their 5 game advantage and now tied for first in the AL West with Seattle having won 8 in a row.
Ronald "vote rigging" has a definition and it is not the same as following the Constitutional process to reapportion seats legally and openly as Texas did. It might be unfair but who said political outcomes are always fair? Democrats still have a greater share of the TX vote than Republicans have of the MA or IL or CA vote. It ain't fair but it's all legal. Vote Rigging is illegal.
Texas Democrats were never going to stop the vote rigging
Indeed, that's all Texas Democrats do these days is vote rigging. That's why their has been several lawsuits in Harris County, because of how blatant the County Judge has rigged elections. She created a new and unnecessary position of Election Coordinator, and two have left in disgrace for running horrible elections. If not for the rigging, there would already be a super majority of Republicans in the State Legislature.
Google's new AI jumps in whenever I search now (edited for length):
"Vote rigging, or electoral fraud, refers to any intentional, illegal actions that aim to change or influence the results of an election.
Here are some examples of vote rigging (by voters):
Duplicate Voting: Registering in multiple locations and casting more than one vote in the same election...
Ineligible Voting: Illegal registration and voting by individuals who are not U.S. citizens, are convicted felons, or are otherwise not eligible to vote.
Absentee Ballot Fraud: Requesting absentee ballots and voting without the knowledge of the actual voter, obtaining and filling out a ballot for someone else, or pressuring a voter to vote a certain way..."
There's much more but obviously the TX reapportioning was not "intentional illegal fraud."
Enigma: I remember when that Ice-T song first came out, violent rap lyrics were Issue 3 or 4 on The McLaughlin Group. McLaughlin himself read the lyrics off the prompter, and of course since they are written rhythmically, he couldn’t help but fall into a de-facto rap. Tony Blankley complimented him on his skills.
I am surprised no actual rappers ever sampled McLaughlin into one of their works.
Staying with liberal friends at present, and yesterday we were talking about college and the welcome resurgence of vocational training as a path for young people. They're in favor of it, in theory, but - I think, having known them for more than thirty years now - they would never have encouraged their kids to do anything but go to college.
One of them said something that I've heard before, but in this context it hit different, as the kids say: that college isn't just about what you learn but about the maturation process, the social connections, things like that.
Suddenly I realized that what he was saying was that college is for the kids who aren't ready for adult responsibility. Huh.
The funny thing is, he, his wife, my husband, and I all put ourselves through college by working while going to school, taking out loans where needed, and paying them off as a priority when graduated and working. His wife and my husband got master's degrees, which we all paid for on our own. We four certainly started taking on adult responsibility as soon as we started college.
Our kids, however, all of them, had the gift - from us - of attending college without debt and with the need to work during school only for pin money. My husband and I told our kids that we don't pay for summers, which meant they could stay in their college town and get a full-time job over the summers, get a paid internship in the best case, or come back home and have free room and board but get a job for everything else. But still, they were backstopped in a way we were not.
Did we err? Well, two of my husband's and my kids are out of school and very gainfully employed; the third graduates next year in a useful field and expects (I suppose I should say "hopes for") a return offer from the internship he did this summer but in any case will be eminently employable because of his major, his grades, and his work experience. Our friends' kids are essentially unemployable: they either got degrees that are worthless without grad school or have been urged to aim too high in seeking employment and so have increasingly stale credentials and no work experience.
So I think maybe he was right about his kids' needing the "gap years" of college to mature and forge social bonds, because the education certainly isn't benefiting them at present. But my kids would have done well on either path.
“ RJW Well, they shouldn't have run to Illinois. The countrys best example of gerrymandering. You guys set the bar. The republicans are just playing by your rules. So quit complaining.”
For starters, it’s puzzling how so many here take on such a self assumed authoritative roll; “shut up” “go away” “quit complaining”.
Regardless, my point was more of a political strategy explanation rather than my personal gripes. Nothing there about trying to crack the cult- just an attempt to expand exposure.
Placing bets as an insurance policy is common the UK. Pub owners often bet that there will be rain on holiday weekends, so if the sun shines they are busy and profitable, and if it is wet they win on the bet.
Mike, MJB Wolf, I ask Albert Ingles (aka AI) about that and while I don’t agree with everything Albert says, here goes;
When you ask, “Is gerrymandering rigging elections?”, the short answer is: Yes, it can—and often does—undermine fair electoral outcomes by skewing district lines in ways that advantage one party over another or dilute the influence of certain communities. What Is Gerrymandering? Definition: Gerrymandering is the strategic manipulation of voting district boundaries to benefit a political party (partisan gerrymandering) or weaken the voting power of minority populations (racial gerrymandering) Encyclopedia Britannica Campaign Legal Center Brennan Center for Justice . How it’s done: Two primary tactics are used: Packing: Concentrating opposition voters into a few districts they win overwhelmingly—thus minimizing their influence elsewhere. Cracking: Spreading those voters across multiple districts, preventing them from winning anywhere Campaign Legal Center Brennan Center for Justice HeadCount . Why It's Called "Rigging" Gerrymandering flips democracy on its head: instead of voters choosing their representatives, politicians are choosing their voters Brennan Center for Justice Vote5 . It creates “safe seats”—districts that heavily favor one party—damaging competition, reducing accountability, and increasing partisan polarization SCSJ ThoughtCo about.bgov.com Vote5 . Communities of color often bear the brunt of gerrymandering, as their voting power can be diluted through cracking or confined through packing Brennan Center for Justice SCSJ Democracy Bill of Rights - Vote5 . Real-World Impact In the 2010s, Republican-led efforts like REDMAP helped secure a disproportionate share of House seats—even when Democratic candidates received more total votes nationwide Wikipedia Brennan Center for Justice . For instance, in some states, GOP legislators held a sizeable advantage in congressional representation by drawing maps favoring Republicans Brennan Center for Justice ThoughtCo . State-level examples: In Wisconsin (2018), Democrats won the statewide vote for every office but secured only 36 of 99 seats due to gerrymandered maps Brennan Center for Justice . Legal and Democratic Concerns Racial gerrymandering has been struck down by courts as unconstitutional under the Equal Protection Clause—cases like Shaw v. Reno and Miller v. Johnson underscore this Wikipedia +1 . Partisan gerrymandering, however, remains largely legal. In the 2019 Rucho v. Common Cause decision, the Supreme Court ruled that federal courts have no power to stop it Brennan Center for Justice Democracy Bill of Rights - . This means gerrymandering persists unless effectively countered through reforms. Current Events (August 2025) Texas: Republican-led redistricting is projected to add up to five House seats for the GOP—a move critics warn undermines Latino and urban representation Statesman San Antonio Express-News . Democratic response: Some are calling for counter-redistricting in states like California or New York—but many warn this retaliatory approach only perpetuates democratic erosion The Guardian Times Union . Mid-2025 landscape: The GOP is pushing a “redistricting arms race”—attempting to solidify its House advantage ahead of the 2026 midterms—while Democrats are limited in their ability to fight back The Washington Post . Bottom Line Yes, gerrymandering is a form of electoral manipulation, and when used strategically, it effectively rigs elections—not necessarily by fraud, but by systematically skewing representation. It diminishes competition, erodes public trust, and disproportionately impacts minority communities. Partisan gerrymandering remains legal under current federal rulings, making reforms—like independent redistricting commissions—more crucial than ever about.bgov.com uniteamerica.org Democracy Bill of Rights - .

They still aren’t paying attention — Hispanic voters are even less fond of open borders than ordinary Americans, and accordingly they are migrating to Trump’s Republican Party.
"quit complaining" is authoritative. Geez, you are pathetic.
"my point was more of a political strategy explanation"
Yeah, Rusty got that point and shot it out of the water by pointing out how the political strategy backfired by going to a state with worse gerrymandering. In order to try and save face, you come back to insult him as being "authoritative" and it is such a lame insult, because it so far from the truth.
Rusty's statement "quit complaining" was a helpful suggestion to prevent you making a fool of yourself. Rusty's mistake was thinking a fool would understand the warning. I think he knew it, but he felt sorry for you and tried anyway.
Wow, spamming comments now with a list of "what could happen". Plenty of commenters have already pointed out many times that even if those predictions happen and Texas adds 5 GOP states; Texas will still have better Democrat representation aligned with Democrat voting percentages than California, Oregon, Washington, Illinois, and Massachusetts.
"No matter how unpopular the topic is with American voters, the hard left still wants to keep as many illegal aliens from being deported as possible, and to that end they’re organizing to attack ICE agents.
A volunteer orientation meeting hosted by the Party for Socialism and Liberation in partnership with Houston Leads outlined plans to establish a rapid response network against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in Houston.
The session, attended by about a dozen participants, emphasized organizing volunteers to counter deportations, raids, and detentions.
A speaker described the initiative’s objective, stating, “We want to build a long-term movement that fights back against deportations, raids, detention, and all other forms of immigration-related terror.”
[Snip.]
Tactics discussed include responding to ICE sightings by recording agents, slowing operations, and mobilizing at locations. Volunteers are advised to identify as neutral observers to avoid affiliation disclosure.
“What you say is that you’re a volunteer legal observer … we never say what we are a part of,” instructed an organizer.
The meeting covered legal rights, such as refusing searches without warrants, and potential risks like being arrested for obstructing justice. “We are just inevitably going to be facing up against law enforcement and ICE agents,” speakers noted.
...
So how does the Party for Socialism and Liberation get away with an open conspiracy to hinder law enforcement officers in carrying out their official duties? This seems like the sort of thing the FBI should investigate, especially the funding sources. The Party for Socialism and Liberation’s fiscal sponsor is the Progress Unity Fund, which in turn is funded by the George Soros-backed Tides Foundation."
Great Ronald. Except the AI supported my take. "Vote rigging" has a specific definition because it is illegal. Gerrymandering is maddening but legal as courts have said. Remapping for Partisan advantage is allowed. Remapping for racial considerations are not.
You can wave your hands and copy/paste all you want BUT it does not change the fact that gerrymandering is an allowable exercise in democracy.
MadTownGuy, I think the objections coming from the left are that law abiding and legally permitted immigrants have been caught up in the round up, breaking the promise of going after actual illegals and hardened criminals. It’s taken on more of a quota for ethic cleansing rather than citizen protections.
And from some of Trump’s statements and rhetoric and suggestions , the American homeless citizens seem to becoming more fair game in this Gestapo style sweep.
No, RJW, the objections from the left are that President Trump is fighting back. It will be harder to abuse illegal immigrants for slave labor, sex trade and illegal voting.
Redistricting’s always been about party resources, not communities. The difference now is that modern politicians have voter data, GIS software, and analytics early map-makers couldn’t even dream of.
To paraphrase William Munny, “Fair’s got nothing to do with it.”
Ironically, Gerry disliked the tactic that bears his name.
“No, RJW, the objections from the left are that President Trump is fighting back. It will be harder to abuse illegal immigrants for slave labor, sex trade and illegal voting.”
Actually TaeJohn, and aside from the repeated debunked claim that illegals can vote, Trump’s policies are doing the exact opposite. It becoming more documented and frequent that victims of domestic violence, rape and other abuses have become less likely to report the incident or seek medical treatment for fear of being deported or rounded up by his masks thugs.
"MadTownGuy, I think the objections coming from the left are that law abiding and legally permitted immigrants have been caught up in the round up, breaking the promise of going after actual illegals and hardened criminals. 1. You're talking hypotheticals. Show some facts. 2. "...seem to [be] becoming more fair game" - is raw speculation, and calling it 'Gestapo' is in line with the tactic of tarring anyone who's not to the left of Stalin as Nazi.
Aside from the fact that many of the detainees have criminal records for offenses committed since their entry to the US, even those who have no record of criminality are still here in defiance of federal law. If you have evidence of any detainees who are here legally and have complied with laws about their permission to reside here, let's see it.
I think the objections coming from the left are that law abiding and legally permitted immigrants have been caught up in the round up, breaking the promise of going after actual illegals and hardened criminals.
Objections made on false pretenses. For instance, the famous Maryland man is exactly a hardened criminal that entered the country illegally. The false claims of citizenship haven’t stood up, so claiming “objections were made” is a low bar you failed to hurdle.
Answer the question, provide a name of a detainee that legally entered the US and complied with the laws.
I’ll give you one, the daughter of the Egyptian involved with the firebomb attack. However, that went through legal review and a federal court agreed with the Administration that a hearing of their immigration status is legal. In short, the process is and always being followed. Keeping the daughter in the US would require separating her from her family. She also isn’t being detained.
RJW @ 10:17 So all those illegals in Illinois who were registered to vote when they were signed up for food stamps or got drivers licenses,(motor voter), they never voted? Yeah. Fuck off.
Interesting stuff here. When you can validate whatever it is you’re talking about Rusty, I’m all ears. Trump supporting red meat is cheap, unlike red meat at the grocery checkout.

Five foreigners were arrested in Omaha for human trafficking, sex slavery and regular slavery. They owned motels and used them for their criminal enterprise. The motels are close to the Interstate. One is called The New Victorian Inn. It is located about a quarter-mile from a Nebraska State Patrol location.

It's also kind of pleasing, if in the end, you learn a new word.
They are just coming back to walk out when a vote is called. More theater.

I got my black shirt on
I got my black gloves on
I got my ski mask on
This shit's been too long
I got my twelve gauge sawed off
I got my headlights turned off
I'm 'bout to bust some shots off
I'm 'bout to dust some cops off
I'm a cop killer, better you than me
Cop killer, fuck police brutality!
Cop killer, I know your family's grieving
(Fuck 'em!)
Cop killer, but tonight we get even, ha ha
...
Die, die, die, pig, die!
Somebody is going to get hurt. As per 7:24 am comment 👆🏽
"Dave Begley said...
Eleven straight wins for the Brewers!"
If they win tonight a Milwaukee area diner chain called George Webb will give all patrons a free hamburger.

Well, they shouldn't have run to Illinois.
Leland for the win

Good grief.

And now: hubris alert! I will perform numerous rituals to appease the gods today.

Thanks Rusty and, you’re dismissed.
Placing bets as an insurance policy is common the UK. Pub owners often bet that there will be rain on holiday weekends, so if the sun shines they are busy and profitable, and if it is wet they win on the bet.
Mike, MJB Wolf, I ask Albert Ingles (aka AI) about that and while I don’t agree with everything Albert says, here goes;
When you ask, “Is gerrymandering rigging elections?”, the short answer is: Yes, it can—and often does—undermine fair electoral outcomes by skewing district lines in ways that advantage one party over another or dilute the influence of certain communities.
What Is Gerrymandering?
Definition: Gerrymandering is the strategic manipulation of voting district boundaries to benefit a political party (partisan gerrymandering) or weaken the voting power of minority populations (racial gerrymandering)
Encyclopedia Britannica
Campaign Legal Center
Brennan Center for Justice
.
How it’s done: Two primary tactics are used:
Packing: Concentrating opposition voters into a few districts they win overwhelmingly—thus minimizing their influence elsewhere.
Cracking: Spreading those voters across multiple districts, preventing them from winning anywhere

Why It's Called "Rigging"
Gerrymandering flips democracy on its head: instead of voters choosing their representatives, politicians are choosing their voters

Real-World Impact
In the 2010s, Republican-led efforts like REDMAP helped secure a disproportionate share of House seats—even when Democratic candidates received more total votes nationwide

For instance, in some states, GOP legislators held a sizeable advantage in congressional representation by drawing maps favoring Republicans

Legal and Democratic Concerns
Racial gerrymandering has been struck down by courts as unconstitutional under the Equal Protection Clause—cases like Shaw v. Reno and Miller v. Johnson underscore this

.
Partisan gerrymandering, however, remains largely legal. In the 2019 Rucho v. Common Cause decision, the Supreme Court ruled that federal courts have no power to stop it

This means gerrymandering persists unless effectively countered through reforms.

Mid-2025 landscape: The GOP is pushing a “redistricting arms race”—attempting to solidify its House advantage ahead of the 2026 midterms—while Democrats are limited in their ability to fight back
The Washington Post

Bottom Line
Yes, gerrymandering is a form of electoral manipulation, and when used strategically, it effectively rigs elections—not necessarily by fraud, but by systematically skewing representation.
It diminishes competition, erodes public trust, and disproportionately impacts minority communities.
Partisan gerrymandering remains legal under current federal rulings, making reforms—like independent redistricting commissions—more crucial than ever

Thank you, Leland.
Socialists Plot To Attack Federal Agents - Lawrence Person's Battleswarm Blog

“the federal takeover means to her place in the "chain of command."
Perhaps a c-c-c-chain of fools.
"I think the objections coming from the left are that law abiding and legally permitted immigrants have been caught up in the round up, "
That's laughable. The objections from the left extend far beyond that.

Nothing there about trying to crack the cult- just an attempt to expand exposure.
Yes. Thank you. You've increased my exposure to how much bullshit you leftists have been doing during your gerrymandering of blue states.
And now it's time to even the playing field.
Thanks, again.

So all those illegals in Illinois who were registered to vote when they were signed up for food stamps or got drivers licenses,(motor voter), they never voted? Yeah. Fuck off.
Interesting stuff here. When you can validate whatever it is you’re talking about Rusty, I’m all ears. Trump supporting red meat is cheap, unlike red meat at the grocery checkout.
